Pregnancy and Baby Advice Thread: From Conception to Birth, and Beyond!

I think they just say that because it's not been tested, it's not that anyone thinks it's really harmful or owt. That's the impression I got when I asked anyway, I was even told to avoid most cough sweets! Medicines are one of the hardest things to negotiate whilst pregnant I think cos nothing is tested and no one can tell you that anything is safe really. It's all such a minefield of worry x

They told me to stay away from the cough sweets but explained that they are high in sugar and means blood sugar levels have highs and lows...it made sense to me but I didn't see the difference then between those ad a packet if fruit pastels lol xx

I got told it was because some of them contain local anaesthetic! Wish pharmacists would make their minds up lol ;) xxx

Gona ring maternity ward n ask them.

Doc told me weeks ago not to use Vicks (I rang when j was sick as he came to bed one night smelling like he'd bathed in it n I freaked out as I'd been previously told eucalyptus was bad in preg) Doc said as its not technically a medicine he can't say as it's not been tested. So if in doubt stay away.

Is the saline thing the thing u wash up one side of yer nose n it comes out the other??? Like a wash??

The thing I've seen is a spray - you can get it in the kids medicine section in pharmacies. I've not tried it myself but it was mentioned to me when I was suffering with cold and from what the other ladies have said it might be worth a go :)

Hi ladies x

Just out of curiosity really, but does anyone still have "sick" days?

My 'morning' (yeah...right!) sickness started at 8 weeks and finished properly around 16 weeks pregnant. I've been sick probably twice since then, but nothing after 20 weeks.

The past few days I have been feeling sick again...but feels similar to the beginning...so smells are turning my stomach, and if I haven't eaten for a while I feel sick. I also felt sick the other night in bed and had no idea why because I ate pretty well that day - but my stomach still felt quite empty? I'm eating well too... Regular and not bad portions!

I've started to get a bit of dizziness the past couple of days, only little spots once or twice a day but noticeable enough when it does happen for me to go "woah!"

Does anyone else get this? And do you know why I'm/we're going through a "first trimester" phase?! It's just out of interest :) I'm not worried in the slightest xx

I still felt sick if I ate too little up pretty close to 20 weeks and I still get dizzy on occasions. I don't get it often now but if I get too hot or stand up too quick I do still get it.

I swear the whole feeling better after the first tri thing is a myth, someone I work with who is 18 weeks at the mo only started being sick at 13 weeks, it was horrible cos she thought she'd got away with it! And the tiredness never went for me either, even though people said it would at about 14 weeks lol ;)

I get quite tired come 9 r 10 o'clock but otherwise I'm grand tiredness wise

Yeah...the whole "sickness should ease at 12 weeks" is a load of bull-poo! lol

To be honest, it makes sense to still have sicky days throughout - our bodies are doing so much growing these little babies aren't they xx

We're dealing with a lot at the moment and our bodies have so much work to do! Growing babies is a serious business and it requires serious food I have found... ;)

I've been actually sick more times in my 2nd trimester than my first. First trimester was constant nausea and dry heaving lol. I've also got to eat as soon as I'm up and eat regularly or I'm sick or dry heaving then as well!

For everyone who is following SW, this new website might be useful! Not had time to read it yet but was linked to it on fb this morning, apparently it launched today :) xxx

Hi Girls, i have a question - is anyone struggling with car seat belts? I have read that the lap strap bit should go across your thighs but my car wont allow that position it just slides up to rest against my bump, and i am now struggling with the shoulder strap - instructions i've read online tell me it should sit between my boobs - but there is no space between my boobs (i for once have cleavage without fancy bras!) so the strap ends up sliding across my boobs and ends up cutting in to my neck and i feel i am constantly readjusting it. I am not so bothered about the strap across my chest, it's more that the lap strap always sits on my bump and what damage (if any?!) it could do if god forbid i had an accident! Has any one got any tips for how to convince the seat belt to co-operate? :D
