Well I've had a very eventful hospital appt and I feel all freaked out We have been to the consultant basically I have to start baby aspirin (apparently I should have been on it from 12 weeks! I have to have extra scans at 28 and 34 weeks because of high risks associate with ivf and babies not growing ( I was never told any of this) she has to write to the consultant resp team here regarding my pneumothorax and see if there is concern about a normal birth she started talking about a c section but she said I might be able to have a normal labour. Then she started on about pre eclampsia although bp Is currently fine. Glucose tolerance test at 28 weeks all in all an eventful appt ?x

That sounds eventful but it sounds like you have a sensible plan in place. Shame you weren't told before about the aspirin but at least you can get it sorted now. How many weeks are you now? X

I'm 22 +3 bp is fine urine was fine but because bmi above 30 apparently I should have been on it ?. I've had lung surgery nearly 2 years ago in June I didn't realise the potential need of a c sec because of history of pneumothoracies. But my lungs glued so it can't collapse well so I believe ? But I never realised the need for extra scans just because. It's an ivf baby. I felt pretty crap when I came out xx

Hmmmm, Bella is an IVF baby and we didn't have additional scans for that reason... My bmi was 28 when I became pregnant so hasn't heard of the need to take baby aspirin.. Maybe check with the clinic and see what their advice is? Hope your ok x

I think I've seen it in boots. The inhaler dummies are generally only from 3 months. At least the ones I've seen are. Calpol from 2 months, hope you're both better soon x

I've never seen the inhalers but the instructions on that says it can b used in one from birth?!

Am gona look into getting the inhaler soother thing tho. It'd b handy if she gets a cold n is bunged up. Hopefully wont need it tho ;)

Oh fair enough. The ones I've seen said 3 months plus. So glad Oliver not far from 3 months now. So much seems to be that magical age!

Nelly it's new criteria if you have potential risk factors there has been evidence to suggest that the use of small dose aspirin will reduce the chance of pre eclampsia and when bmi above 30 it's classed as a risk. I've done some googling and apparently it's common for some ivf babies to be small hence the need for extra scans not many NHS hospitals offer the extra scans and if I hadn't been to see the consultant I probably would have never of needed or known about it. Silver linings and all that I feel better today about it all I can do is keep eating well and doing my 30 mins of excersis daily what will be will be, it means I get two midwifes in the room with me and a dr on hand for just incase! X

Oh I know tell me about it!!!
They're such a delicate age :(

Hey ladies, just a question regarding nappies. What do u all use? I've heard good things about Aldi nappies? I have 9 wk's n 3 days left till due date so I while yet but I wanted to start stocking up xx

Right, I'm back to the weaning thing again. I get the 6 months thing and I want to wait as long as possible. But Cole is constantly staring at us when we eat and when I gave him a spoon he started putting it in his mouth. He hardly puts anything in his mouth other than his hands and his butterfly toy. So this morning I 'fed' him some milk from a weaning spoon and he was opening his mouth for it and trying to chew. I don't know what to do. They say to wait until they can hold their head and control it and he can. He's only 16 and half weeks and I don't want him to grow up too quick but I don't want to hold him back. My two best friends did it at 16 weeks and their lo's are fine but it sounds a bit early? It's really ragging my head now :(

I've brought a selection- Waitrose, Tesco and Pampers, one pack of each to start with.
I've heard Aldi's are fab but I never go there (I'm actually unsure if there's one near me??)
I've got 3 wks left so can't answer on what's best yet x

I've had Aldi and Pampers and I prefer Pampers. The Aldi ones are fine, and cheaper, but I found I was having to change Cole more often in the Aldi ones so would have had to buy them more often x

Thanks girls, think I will buy a variety n see which suits best then xx

I've do far tried pampers, boots, Lidl, aldi and tesco... IMO there's no difference in any of them except price!! The boots NB ones seemed a a little smaller than the others... Not huge difference n would have great when she was brand new. But in terms of keeping her dry, I've never had a leak from any of them. I change her quite often tho. At every feed n in between every feed. And if she needs it more then obviously I do it then too :)
I use Aldi ones as that's where I shop n they're doing their job with no probs so......

Sarah, as I said before I'd leave him until his bottles aren't enough. Putting the spoon in his mouth will b him copying you... Which is what they learn to do in the second leap...
Allot of package food in the supermarkets is marked from 4 months so I can't imagine it'd do him any harm if u really wanted to give him "food"
I'd just b afraid of over feeding... And his digestive system not being quite ready yet...

I heard lots of good things from the Aldi nappies, mums net have some good reviews on them. Can u buy a big box of them? I can only see the 24 pack online. 1.49 for 24, bargain lol xx

How many would y say u go through a wk? X

Boxes of 98 in aldi for £7.29 at the minute, I have used aldi, boots and pampers, boots seem small, but I've had no problems with either pampers or Aldis nappies no leaks etc, I like Frances change before every feed and then whenever she needs it, I use around 42 nappies a week

I personally wouldn't do it yet - they do say that ideally babies should be able to sit up too before weaning and their tummies really aren't ready at 4 months. Even with Seth's weight issues there's no way I'm weaning early unless a doctor tells me to. I get stared at all the time when I'm eating and he tried helping himself to my crisps the other day lol ;) I think at this age they watch you a lot more anyway, it's just how they develop and like Frances says it's also when they start copying.

I posted up the advice leaflet I was given the other day that has the latest info on weaning, it should be a page or so back? Might be helpful. A lot of my friends weaned their kids before 6 months too but advice has changed in the last few years as research changes. It's up to you at the end of the day, it's whatever is best for Cole is most important. I know I'll get stick for holding off weaning (MIL is asking me why we've not started yet already!) but I'm sticking to my guns as it's what I think is best for Seth. :)
