Pregnancy and Slimming World

I'd never heard that about the car seat either so thanks girls. Congrats on your scan Dougal. :) Has anyone else been suffering with a bad back? never suffered before pregnancy or up until a couple of weeks ago, now im just so uncomfortable unless im sitting on the sofa.. even laying on my side in bed is starting to hurt. So annoying! x

I feel your pain with that, my back has never been worse! Mine is related to my PGP plus an old injury but I think but it's common to get back pain when your pregnant anyway as your bump gets bigger. Lying on my side is pretty painful for me but the pain is more in my hips than my back. I used to get horrible back pain at work though from sitting at my desk!

Mention it your midwife if it gets any worse, they might be able to suggest something that might help xxx

THROWS her both hands up to back pain!!!
OMG.. As of Saturday I have been sufferent terrible with my back.. And if I sit for more than 10-15 mins, when I get up i'm so stiff i'm waddling for the first 20ish steps til it loosens again... Its so painful.. Am like a 90 year old if I bend down to pick anything up.. Attractive!!
And its not like I've a massive bump where I could put it down to extra strain on my back.. I know there is obviously some bump, but as i'm currently 2 stone lighter than my heaviest weight and never suffered it before.. Its not nice :(

I also get trapped nerve when I lay down sometimes in the left side of my lower back.. Which, if I move my leg at all, sends shooting pain both up my back and down through the cheek of my bum!!!
Meant to link to it earlier but this is what Which? have to say about buying second hand stuff (including car seats) - it's got some really good advice for checking over second hand pushchairs and monitors too. Was useful for me as we have inherited a stair gate and need to check it over! xxx

Safety issues - Where to buy baby equipment second hand - Nursery & feeding - Which? Baby & child
Thanks Missy :) xxx

I feel the same, been much heavier than this and never any probs with back.. I guess if its my only real pregnancy symptom ill have to take it on the chin. It's worse when sitting on my work chair, sitting for 9 hours is killing me!

I'm wondering if a hot water bottle would work a bit? A cushion relieves it for about 5 mins.

I've heard an exercise ball is the best option but would feel like such a wally sitting on one at work.

Oh that trapped nerve does sound painful :/

I keep hearing to bring in a cushion for my back but keep forgetting. I hit cater water bottle do the trick alright but check with yer mw r gp as sum ladies here hav said a hot water bottles isn't recommended during pregnancy. I'd hav thought on yer back is fine but just to b sure :)

Yea same as. If back ache is it ill take it quietly

The car seat we've been offered is an isofix as well, cost £200 brand new and she wants £40 for it! Its one of my close friends and I know it's not been in an accident, in fact it looks unused, it's that immuculate!

My cousin is also getting rid of baby stuff and she's promised us loads, good thing is she has expensive taste and goes for top quality plus she doesn't want any money for the stuff, she just wants rid so she can free up some space in her house!

I had a wheatbag at work which helped a bit. Exercise balls are great too, and good to start using early as apparently they can help get the baby into a good position for birth later on. Maybe just use it at home for chilling? My physio also says that you should stand up every 30 minutes when you're at work - I got told off for sitting for too long! Got told that even if you don't walk around you should at least stand and stretch or something. Its worth seeing if work will get you a new chair too, I ended up with a nicer one but it still hurt my back annoyingly. :( They have to make reasonable adjustments for you and a new chair is definitely reasonable.

Back pain is horrible, I feel for you guys. I have a bit in my back but it's my pelvis that kills me mostly. If you ever start getting pain in your pelvis though (either front, back or in your hips) let your midwife know, just in case it is the start of PGP. I had to wait ages for physio so wish I'd flagged it up earlier! xxx

I bet that's alright then if you know the history of it. Like I said, I think they mainly mean buying one off eBay where you've no idea if it's been dropped/damaged/been in an accident. We've had some lovely second hand stuff from friends - best part is that you're doing them a favour by taking it off their hands ;)

Yeh the text I got off my cousin was "I'm so glad I now have someone I can finally get rid of all this stuff to!"
And my friend as well is trying to make space for all the kids toys so she's desperate to get rid of her stuff too :)

I think I will get an exercise ball then, even if it doesnt help my back if its going to get her in the right position for labour and strengthen my core etc it will be worth it.

Im trying harder to have a healthier day today as the last few days have been poor. Have had a couple of biscuits but need to syn them and stop at the 2! going to go for a swim later and will aim to do 40 minutes so that should burn them off! :p

Hope everyones well today? x

Yea I find my ball great.. Really keep meaning to watch some pregnancy safe ball exercises to do while i'm on it.. Anything to help...
Have noticed this morning too my pelvis is quite stiff.. Wouldn't say painful (yet) but certainly stiff...

Swimming is meant to be great for getting baby into positiion.. and very relaxing for baby too.. Always a bonus.. Wish I could swim.. Definitely something at the top of my "thing to teach baby" list...

Just booked a half day for myself for tomoro :) Nothing planned for it but just to get out of here and off this chair...

Ive booked the day off tmrw, I figure that I can last today sitting in this damn chair as tmrw ill be on the sofa. Are you just working the morning?

Tomoro will just be til 12 o'clock yea.. :)
I keep saying I'm gona look into aqua natal classes... But coming out of a simming pool of an evening in this cold weather I can't imagine will be very inviting...

Ooh.. The day off sounds nice.. Would like that better but with OH getting up for work I'd be awake from early anyway so might as well wake up in here and make lunch plans maybe for tomoro with a friend :)

Evening all!

Hope you are all well - I am so glad tomorrow is my last day in work - what with not sleeping properly, feeling rather large and uncomfortable and a stressful job I need a break!

Mat leave is amazing, well done for making it this far with your bad hands too! Have a good last day tomorrow xxx

I've had a funny old day that I'll not go into here but I am really struggling at the moment with my pelvis and I'm only just managing to get about. Had a horrible trip to town on my crutches today that ended up with lots of pain and tears so tbh I think that's it for me and I'll not be leaving the house much until baby arrives now. It hurts too much and I'm fed up of people staring at me! Lots of chilled time in the house I think.

Hope you're all ok ladies xxx

I need to ask you all a question regarding fish!

Bascially I know we are meant to limit seafood in pregnancy but my problem is for the last week it's all I've fancied!
Been eating tuna mayo sandwiches most days, or prawn mayo, even had crabstick salad the other day and I've just destroyed some prawn toasts...

I basically want to know how much is too much?
And of all the things we are meant to avoid/limit, have any of you ignored that and eaten what you want?
My hubby's cousin's wife is due end of Nov and she said she has just used the "everything in moderation" rule whilst obviously avoiding alcohol.
Thoughts?

I think shell fish is avoid at all costs. Not sure about the rest. I've had tinned tuna about twice this whole time. I certainly wouldn't ignore any of the advice about avoiding it. Tho mayb I'm the wrong person to answer this as I'm 100% sticking to the rules.. So much so that I won't take paracetamol even tho it's approved to b fine n am not getting jabs.... So maybe ill keep schtum :)

Glad uv got an appetite tho n ms seems to hav cleared off :)
