I've just always been very odd about food. When I was little in the school canteen we used to have mince and stew dishes, and mashed potato which I also can't eat (a texture thing) and I'd end up sitting at my table refusing to eat until the senior kids had been in for their lunch. Occasionally I'd shove down a couple of mouthfuls and run outside to be sick.
I am getting a bit better. I've picked a few bits of meat out of mum's stews once or twice, and I ate marks and spencer's children's bolognese for a little while when I was cutting calories as it's minced up so tiny - but then I got a bit of gristle and it put me off.
I like the taste of meat but really only when it's whole and unadulterated, like steak or chicken I've cooked myself etc.
Salami is the only processed meat I can do, Jim. I'm sure it's full of horrible things but it's not soggy and there's no lumps in it. I prefer my salami grilled though because sometimes it's a bit plasticy. I can do roast beef slices if they're cut from a roast, not processed or soggy, but I have to eat it the same day I get it.
To be honest it's part of why I put the weight on. It's just easier for me to live on safe, beige foods like pasta, bread and crisps. No nasty surprises but absolutely no nutritional value in most of it. I haven't eaten that way in a long time now, especially since I discovered quorn chicken pieces cooked in tomato sauce with cheese - yum. But I used to eat that happily 4 days a week. I'm not a big food adventurer.
