Sarah's Pregnancy and Baby Diary

Aren't people generous when it comes to baby clothes and things, I think its because they grow so quickly and may only get to wear something once or twice and it feels such a waste. I know in the past when i have given away baby stuff (believing I wouldn't need it anymore:rolleyes:), you feel sort of relieved and pleased that it wasn't a total waste of the lovely clothes;)
I am getting that dull ache in my hips at night too its a nuisance isn't it:mad:

Yeah definitely. These 2 bags are coming from someone I don't actually know, via a friend of mine! As you say, people hate waste, even more so when babies are involved I think because people know you just don't have much money anyway.

Just need a few nice days to get everything washed and then put away into the baby's drawers. At this rate I'll be packing even more of my stuff away to accommodate everything!

Yes the dull ache in the hips is a pain (literally!). Just annoying as you feel comfortable in every way except that, well I do. No where near like your SPD I would imagine, but my little aches and seizes are getting worse I fear. Today I feel drained like I walked miles over night. Just about to go grab an hour or two in bed to try and get a bit refreshed as I'm being very unproductive this morning!

What a long and tiring weekend, and I did barely anything! I'm having little bouts of feeling drained and wiped out. I'm definitely not overdoing it! I don't know if it's normal or not as I've still got a fair way to go. I spent part of the weekend not feeling too great. Minor little stomach aches. Nothing major, and I think it's more down to a growth spurt inside at the rest of my belly not catching up, so it feels like I've overeaten when I've not eaten much at all!

My friend did drop by last week with not 2 but 3 binbags full of clothes! This baby already has more clothes than we do! I sorted them all out into newborn, 0-3 months, 3-6 months and bigger. There's a few things still with the tags on, including a little fleecy hooded top which is perfect for the winter, plus a couple of fleecy romper suits and an outdoor winter suit. There was also a leather jacket for a 0-3 month old, eek! Still with the label on so probably someone bought it as a present thinking it was a good idea, but never got used! DH seems to think we'll use it but I've said no!

So I need to wait for a few sunny days to start washing stuff and can put it in the baby's drawers. Can finally get to use the baby and toddler setting on my washing machine!

We also got to grips with putting the car base and seat into the car on Saturday, just so that DH knew what he was doing in case suddenly I'm in hospital and he's left to get things sorted! It all fits perfectly now though and he knows what he's doing with it :)

One more thing ticked off the list!

Well, exactly 3 months to go today! It's 27 weeks and time is now beginning to move a lot quicker! I'm certainly starting to feel the side effects of pregnancy now. Currently with an aching back (my own fault, stood chatting for too long before sitting down!), and just little things like how it's getting harder to turn over at night in bed, how it's harder to bend over and pull my socks up (we're in sock weather now!), and how I'm getting tired by 9pm! (could be related to seeming to lose even more sleep at night).

I seem to have put on 7.5lbs now which I'm not overly happy about. My own fault with my diet and I really need to change it. Hoping to perhaps be able to lose a pound or two before I see the consultant on Tuesday else I'm sure I'll get moaned at, especially seeing as I cancelled my second dietician appointment because I saw no reason losing an afternoon of work to go there and not be given any really useful advice!

I've also got my GTT test on Tuesday morning and Anti-D injection (everything in one go!), so it'll be an interesting morning :)

What a day! My GTT test, a registrar appointment, anti-D injection and 28 week bloods taken. Thankfully my GTT results were all good although I now feel like a bit of a pin cushion with the amount of attempts to take blood plus the injection point (which hurt!).

The registrar appointment was again a bit of a waste of time. My BP was high at first, after a stressful morning of rushing around and getting sent to the wrong place it's no wonder. A short while later my BP was fine! She didn't do much else, looked at my notes and that was it.

Feel absolutely wiped out now though. A combination of a lack of sleep and rushing around all morning. I doubt going 15+ hours without food helped! Why is it, when you can't eat you really want to!

On the plus side today (yes there is one!), I've dropped back to +6lb. Probably because I've stayed off the desserts

Quiet evening methinks.

Just over 28 weeks now and counting :) Today is my last day in our office as this weekend we're moving DH into our little box room (that will eventually be the nursery), and moving the futon into here. The plan is we'll have the baby in with us as long as we can but if he disturbs DH too much over night then we'll move him into this room and I can sleep on the futon in here at least up to 6 months. Not ideal but it'll make feeding easier with me being by the baby. Plus it means we have a bigger spare room as my parents will be up for longer periods, so our tiny box room can fit the futon in and then virtually all the floor space has gone!

Yesterday I finally got over to Liverpool to go on a hunt for maternity trousers. We've got a few swish events coming up so I figured I couldn't get away with my jeans. Have to say, hunting for smart maternity trousers is even harder than normal ones! I finally managed to find the a pair from Mamas & Papas that fit me. Plus they have little elastic around the top that you can tighten which is handy as they were a little loose around my waist, but it means I've got room for expansion!

I've still not heard back about my HiP grant :( I'd hoped I'd have had it by now. It's been just over 2 weeks since I posted it off so I hope I hear soon. Got to wait 4 weeks before calling them.

Hi Sarah, have you checked your bank account, it may sound obvious but I had a letter confirming it would be paid in within the next 5 days AFTER it had gone into the bank, so if its going into an account you don't use everyday its worthwhile checking.

Hi Jo, yes I tend to check it often, as I also find that HMRC get payments made before they post their letters! Maybe I'm just in the popular range of christmas babies and they've got a backlog.

29 weeks and I seem to have gone back to below half a stone gain. Not complaining :) I'm sure it'll yo-yo between a small range anyway. If I can keep it at half a stone for as long as possible then hopefully my eventual gain won't be too much.

We're slowly getting things ready now in prep for the arrival. The office has been downsized to the diddy box room (which will eventually be the nursery), and the spare room / old office, now has a spare bed in it plus space for the crib if we find the baby keeps DH awake too much in our room. I'll just sleep on the spare bed to be with the baby at first. Plus it means there's more room for when people (aka my parents!) come to visit :)

We've been given yet more clothes from people, more wintery clothes this time and clothes for 6-12 months. It's amazing the generosity of people, people we don't even know! They just don't want to see the clothes go to waste. We've been given or lent loads of other things too, and we're running out of space. I'm actually having to say thanks but no to people!

Besides getting tired easily, major heartburn at times and sometimes finding an obstacle in my way for bending over, I'm feeling pretty fine. People keep saying 'enjoy your pregnancy', and whilst I love the little kicks from inside (the big ones make me jump sometimes!), I'm maybe either not far enough along or missing something that I should be enjoying. Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating anything here, I'm just getting impatient counting down the days to December! Excited to meet our little boy :D Perhaps it's just that I'm still stressing over work (desperately trying not to but some people don't make it easy for you) and I'm not getting to just sit and relax. However this weekend my parents are up so all I'll do is relax :)

Hi Sarah.

Ive just sat with a lovely cup of tea reading about your wonderful baby weeks.
You have done so well with keeping your weight down where I put on 1stone plus with my 2nd.

Looking forward to reading the next chapter

Take care

Woofy x

Thanks Woofy :) I'm hoping not to go over a stone but just need to see how much weight the baby now decides to put on between now and christmas!

I've now had an appointment letter through to see a consultant anaesthetist all because of statistics :( I've read a few horror stories elsewhere on people seeing the anaesthetist, just hope I don't get similar treatment.

Why have you got to see an anaethestist????

High risk. From what I've read on a plus size and pregnant forum, often because statistically if you're over weight you're more likely to need a c-section they'll do their best to talk you into having an epidural just in case you'll need one, or possibly just talk you into a c-section. Neither of which I want unless extremely necessary.

It says in the letter to 'discuss pain relief options', which is a bit generic because otherwise everyone would be discussing it with them. My Mum's going to chat to the obstetrician she works for and see what I should expect.

I think thats a bit OTT to be honest, the only extra test I have had because my starting BMI was over 31 is the GTT test, that came back normal so thats it back to low risk care.
If you have a very high BMI then I can understand some extra tests etc, but with your weight etc I think its not necessary and am quite positive they don't do anything like that in my area.
Oh well I suppose they are doing it for your and babys wellbeing

See here your start BMI has to be 35+ to be high risk, and I was actually told a GTT wouldn't be needed for me as I was under BMI 40+ (My BMI at booking it was 36). But they changed their minds on that.

At the start I thought, Ooo a bit of extra attention, always welcome. But now all of the registrar appointments have been a waste of a morning (nothing the midwife couldn't do or check eg. BP, weight, size of the baby) and whilst the GTT test is good to know anyway, this anaesthetist appt is just another waste of a morning (bearing in mind, if we don't work, we don't earn money) in my opinion.

Just trying to put it out my mind for the next couple of weeks and worry about it when I've got it on the 18th. I'll be seeing my MW on the 15th so will see if she knows what we can expect too.

Working mad hours, so tired, and so barely have much spare time this week. Phoned the HiP grant people yesterday as still nothing in the bank and I was told that my payment had been approved and should be in the bank by the end of the week. Should be good timing as the credit card'll be due next week!

30 weeks tomorrow, 3/4s of the way there! Antenatal classes start tomorrow night. 6 classes, 16 hours total. Should be interesting and good to meet a few local people in the same position as I am :)

Good news on your HIP Sarah, its strange how the time scale can vary so much, I had mine in my account within 8 days of posting  Good timing though with the CRedit card bill ;)
Hope you enjoy the classes and can you believe you are 30 weeks already

Thanks, yep 30 weeks today! I know, it's getting scarily close! :D

Weighed in this morning, still wavering on the 6.5lb gain mark. Am starting to behave and keep my intake of cakey things down which I'm hoping will offset the baby's weight gain. If I can stay at around 7lb gain it'll be great, but I'm assuming the baby has about 5lb to put on so even if I didn't manage it, 11.5lb gain would still be below my max wish of a stone so, just need to keep an eye on it!
