sarah's simply filling food diary

Aww that's SO cute! That's my problem, I can't get a decent job as I can't leave Tilly home all day by herself I don't think it's fair!

But then my dog is SO loving! She's so worth it!

Still not helping Sarah!! ;)

I do REALLY miss having a dog but I also like the greater freedom we have now in that we can go out after work or can go out for the weekend. Couldn't have a puppy anyway as we both work, unless I can find one small enough to take to work with me... Our dog was a terrible handful at times (rescue dog who was very badly treated so a few issues) but so happy and friendly and trusting. And cute. I am just not sure if we are ready yet. I don't have any pictures of our dog on my computer (I can't seem to load the ones from facebook for some reason) but I will post a picture of the breed that looks pretty much identical to him.

Aww adorable! I'm in the same position at the moment would love a dog but live in a tiny flat at the moment. Looking hopeful though as hoping to get a mortgage this year plus my bf works for his dad and they take their dogs to the office so wouldn't need to leave it home alone during the day it could go to work and hang out with its doggy pals :-D x

Ur so lucky to have that option!

When we first got the dog although we both worked full time I only did two day shifts a week due to my huge 18 hour night shift once a week, and every other week at least one of the day shifts was likely to be at the weekend when OH was home so he wasn't left for long. When I changed jobs it was initially on a trial basis and although I hated the other job I would have swapped back if it hadn't worked for the dog but he was aboslutely fine. He got walked before we went out and again as soon as we got in and he was absolutely fine being left. He just slept and played with the cats. Not all dogs would necessarily cope so well, although I do believe that if a dog gets enough exercise, love and attention when you are home (and hasn't been used to you being home all the time) they can cope perfectly well in a household where people work.

We still have two cats and they are insane and incredibly friendly. Both of them will be curled up and asleep on you if you are stationary for more than 1/2 second at a time and our big male cat is happy to be picked up and cuddled for hours. I reckon if I didn't have such affectionate cats I would be pushing for a dog more than I am but they both kind of fill that affectionate and always around role that usually only dogs do.

My cat used to b like that until we got the dog and now shes either outside or up under the bed!

Our cats were only a few months old when we got the dog so i guess adapted a bit better. How long had you had your cat when you got the dog? They loved the dog and I think really miss him. They would all curl up together on the dog bed together in winter and my male cat and the dog used to lick each other ears inside out for ages at a time. My female cat has always been really people focussed and friendly but our male cat had a few years when he wouldn't come and sit on you but was still happy to be picked up and cuddled. Suddenly about 4 years ago he came and plonked himself on my lap again and now rarely leaves.

:) I think she was about 6 months when we got the dog. They do occasionally play with each other

That's good. I remember very fondly the first time we saw the cats chasing the dog round the garden. And he was a BIG dog, about the size of a German Shephard. Very funny to watch. He was totally owned by our cats though. Big softy.

Oh that's rubbish :( They taste a bit like choc ices but 100 times better :p I'd send you some if there's some magic way of getting them to you without them melting, lol
