Hello lovelies!
Work has been totally manic since I got back and I feel like I've only just managed to shift my hangover so haven't had time for a full report.
The weekend was absolutely fantastic and Windsor...wow...what a fabulous place! I haven’t been since I was little, but I’m now totally in love with it. Fantastic shopping, gorgeous restaurants, bars, clubs etc and beautiful scenery.
The bride and I arrived mid-afternoon on Friday and checked into our lovely hotel – The Harte and Garter – can’t recommend it highly enough. The rooms are huge and beautifully decorated – the bathroom was almost as big as my lounge!! And it’s located literally opposite the castle so the outlook is stunning. We did a quick bit of shopping (got two lush dresses, one with 70% off so reduced to £13 from a department store called Daniel and one for £14.99 in H&M. Love a bargain!!) then met Sam’s future mother-in-law and sister-in-law in the bar for some prosecco.
We had dinner at a fab gastropub called Bel & the Dragon where all the waiters were gorgeous and charming, the food was delicious and the tables were painted with blackboard paint so we could draw on them with chalk! Hours of fun to be had! After dinner drinks were enjoyed in the bar, then Sam and I stayed up ‘til silly o’clock chatting and having bubblegum bubble blowing competitions! It was so nice to spend some proper girly time together – we don’t do it often enough!
Saturday morning was a gorgeous breakfast and then a couple of hours chilling out in the spa – I felt almost horizontal I was so chilled!
More girlies arrived at lunchtime and we congregated in the restaurant, overlooking the castle walls, for what ended up being 5 bottles of proescco, fish finger sandwiches and scones with clotted cream and jam. Total bliss! Everyone opened their party bags and got stuck into the competition of taking the most amusing photo of ‘Colin’ – the little yellow stretchy man I’d put in everyone’s bag. Hilarious!
We did a bit more (slightly tipsy!) shopping in the afternoon, then got together for another couple of bottles of pre-dinner prosecco to play a game of ‘Pin Sam’s face onto Edward Cullen’s naughty bits!” and “Mr and Mrs” with James’ answers filmed on the iPad. Lots of giggling and blushing from Sam!
Dinner at a fab Greek restaurant – 4 course mezze with more prosecco and some lovely Greek wine. The waiters were great fun and had us up dancing at the end. Played drunken Chinese whispers which got a bit out of hand with the mother-in-law there! Then went to a bar for cocktails and shots and dancing, then onto a club. Really nice vibe in Windsor and we danced until they kicked us out around 3am! Then back to the hotel for more drinking and we ended up staying up ‘til 8am!
The less said about the state of us at breakfast on Sunday morning the better!
Wow, I have waffled on a bit there, but yes, that’s a synopsis. It was the most amazing weekend and I don’t think Sam will ever forget it!
Pics to follow shortly!
