Sian's 2015 restart - time to shift the weight once and for all!

Re: Sian's restart diary - third time lucky! :-D

Congrats on the loss Hun! Sometimes it's best to just have a 'restart' and I think it will definitely help with your motivation. Have a lovely break xx

Thanks hun :) It's nice being at home...I always feel much more motivated when I'm surrounded by other people xx

Re: Sian's restart diary - third time lucky! :-D

Afternoon lovelies! Hope you're all having a fab Easter so far :) I slightly (read hugely!) over-indulged last night and feel really really rough today. I'm still feeling sick...probably a sign that far too much was consumed. Bleurgh! I can't wait for bedtime! Xx

Re: Sian's restart diary - third time lucky! :-D

Afternoon all! Well I'm finally feeling recovered from my night out on Saturday. Not the best weekend I have to admit!

After having a think I've decided I'm not going to reset my stats until after weigh in on Friday. I know that's probably a huge cop out, but I really don't want to start my restart on a bad week. Hopefully next Saturday will be a lot better drinks-wise, which will give me a better chance of losing.

As for this week I'm just going to try to keep to low syns and go swimming a couple of times to try to minimise the damage. Fingers crossed that works! I'd be happy to maintain, but I think that might be a bit of a tall order! We'll see :)

I hope you're all having a lovely bank holiday Monday :) xx

Hi Sian, Hope you are having a good break!

I'm going to give you some tough love today - I agree with resetting your stats IF it's really going to motivate you. It seems to me that you are sabotaging yourself too often with nights out. I know it can be difficult to cope with an active social life when you're slimming, but you're undoing all your good work in the week with one night out at the weekend!

Tell me to 'do one' if you don't agree, but I think you need a strategy for dealing with your nights out. Set a flexi-syn limit and stick to it, or make the decision not to drink at all, if, like me, your willpower goes out of the window after a couple of drinks! I used to make sure I bought my own drinks and then buy diet coke and tell everyone it had vodka in it!!! Or make every other drink a soft drink?

You know I'm only nagging 'cos I lubs you! :p

xxx

Re: Sian's restart diary - third time lucky! :-D

Hiya hun. Hows you?

I know that my nights out probably sabotage my weight loss, but as I live in Pembrokeshire most of the time away from my family and most of my best friends I get really fed up if I don't go out at the weekend.

Normally when I'm in Pembrokeshire I can have soda water with my vodka, but unfortunately this last Saturday night the only soft drinks available were lemonade, full fat coke or orange juice, so even having mixers was synful!

While I know that I probably ought to wise up a bit, it's also no kind of life to just work all week, work for about 4 hours or so each night and also stay in all weekend so I'm a bit stuck really

Xx

Of course it's not rude Sian, blimey, if we can't tell each other what we think after being 'SWcyberpals' for so long, then what's the world coming to!

If your nights out are sacrosanct, which it sounds like they are, then maybe you could try and have fewer syns all week and a blow out at the weekend? I know you do weekly syns, so it could be managable?

I just think that we have to find a way to fit SW in with our lives, (rather than fitting our lives around SW, which I agree is not much fun!) or else it's not going to work in the long-term. There are things that I know I'm not going to compromise on, like having a good time on holiday without worrying about syns, so I try and make sensible choices when I can and don't worry about the treats that week and accept the gain when I get back. But there are other things that I do compromise on, like having either a glass of wine or a KitKat and not both, or staying away from bread permanently because once I start I can't stop!

I've had a crap couple of weeks - 100% on plan and gained half a pound each week! Really don't think EE suits me - or else I'm eating far too much, so I've swapped to green this week and the sneaky peek on the scales this morning shows I'm 1.5lbs down - phew! xx

Maybe EE really doesn't agree with you hun. I know you used to do quite a few green days didn't you? I've never really tried doing a week of green or red...I worry that I'd feel deprived of food, although if I planned my meals it might be a lot better. I'm sure you'll soon shift that sneaky gain though hun, especially if your scales are anything to go by!! :)

With regards to saving syns....that's something I do generally try to do, as I know that I enjoy my night out on Saturdays. I try not to have more than 30 syns, which leaves me with plenty for the week. What has really got me down though is the weeks where I've been really really good and still gained weight. I find it really hard to carry on after weeks like that, which just seems to perpetuate the cycle of gaining weight followed by bingeing on crap because I've gained weight. It really is a vicious cycle :sigh: The only thing that keeps me going is knowing that since I started in 2010 I've lost nearly 4.5 stone. I reckon that's still something to be proud of, despite the poor weight loss record of the last year or so :) The support of everyone on here has also been crucial in keeping of going, so I never want anyone to think I don't value their opinions or suggestions, because I do :)

Thank you all for being fab cybermates :D xxx

Of course that is something to be proud of!! Some people can only imagine what that feels like and you should not be so hard on yourself. Applause your hard work and stop being such a bugger to yourself! Naughty Sian! xx

Re: Sian's restart diary - third time lucky! :-D

I suddenly had a moment of panic thinking that it was Friday and that I'd forgotten to weigh myself! Thankfully it's only Thursday, phew!

I'm still busy ploughing my way through if mountain of school work I've got to do before our inspection in May...if anyone tries telling me that teachers have an easy life I may well explode, lol!

Hope you're all having a good day :) xx

Evening all! Well it's judgement day tomorrow...I've pretty much had the first week of my holiday off plan, but it's back to the diet tomorrow after I weigh myself in the morning.

So far, the food I've got planned is:

Breakfast - banana and pineapple

Lunch - quinoa, courgette and parmesan (HexA) bites with salad, boiled egg and chicken (HexB). EL salad cream - 1 syn

Supper - Spanish omelette (HexA for cheese and HexB for bacon), salad, SW wedges, ketchup - 2 syns

That's the plan so far anyway :)

Good luck for the morning, and just remember its a fresh start :)

The quinoa bits sound lovely xx

They are very nice indeed...I had the recipe off Britmum's slimmingeats site. They were my new recipe for this week :) I'm going to try her coconut quinoa pudding next week, yum! Or maybe just a bog standard coconut rice pudding using the Kara coconut milk stuff xx

That sounds bloody lovely! Must check out the recipes! Xx

Coconut Quinoa Pudding

Author: Slimming Eat
Serves 4

Ingredients

1 cup (240ml) of uncooked quinoa
750mls of Silk coconut milk (2 HEa’s)
1 white chocolate options sachet (2 syns)
Sweetener to taste

Instructions

Thoroughly rinse the quinoa under a cold running tap.
Add to a saucepan filled with 2 cups of boiling water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover and simmer until all water is absorbed. Take off heat, but leave lid on for approx 10 mins to allow steam to continue to cook the quinoa until lighty and fluffy.
Stir in white chocolate options, sweetener to taste and coconut milk and heat gently until some of the milk has been absorbed into the quinoa and you have a nice creamy pudding.
Serve with your choice of fruit or topping.
This will keep for a couple of days in the refrigerator.

*NOTE - For those in the UK, use 2 servings of Kara coconut milk. But as this is only 1/2 a hea per serving, be sure to use the remaining half of your HEa elsewhere in your day.
