Simon (Bolero's) Food Diary

Morning all. Many thanks for the ideas for the sweet potato. Baking it and filling with phili & bacon does sound very tasty...might have to give that a try, assuming I've got any Quorn bacon left. Lost track of what I've got in the freezer Quornwise. :)

Got an email from the archives about the job I applied for too. Didn't get anywhere, which is disappointing, but such is life. Bit out of practice with doing application forms (it's been the better part of 5-years), and the council one does require a degree in quantum mechanics to get your head around...so may seek a bit more help next time I'm completing a form for a job I actually want. :p

The casserole tasted really nice, although I think I'd cooked it for too long as the sweet potato had gone more than a bit mushy...to be honest, the sweet potato chunks were drinkable! I know now for next time, though, when I'll probably make it with the new lamb Quorn pieces they do. Should be a bit more authentic then, as it was a lamb casserole recipe I adapted in the first place.

Trying to stay philosophical about the job. Should it come up again I'll probably apply again, but my long term plan is staying the same...intending to go back to uni so I can get the relevant qualifications to research family history professionally. :)

I'll shove my diary for today up later. Having monkfish for tea, for a change, with runners & new potatoes.

Enjoy your dinner, glad the casserole was nice, opps about the sweet potato though!
Good idea bout going back to Uni so you can do the job you really want to do :0)

Dinner was quite nice...enjoyed the monkfish, which I just cooked in the oven in a little water. Tasted very fresh, and shall do that again. Hadn't had monkfish before, and was quite impressed with how meaty it was. Made for a quite substantial meal, for very few points really (think is was about 3pp the fillet I had).
My breakdown for today shall go up tomorrow now, though, as I'm feeling a bit unwell (a bit nauseous), so am going to head off...see if that helps.

Sorry to hear about the job. No doubt something better is round the corner waiting for you! What is it they say? - 'What's meant for you won't pass you by.'

I'm waiting for tomorrow to find out if I've got an interview for one I've applied for. Wonder if I'll be so philosophical if I don't get it! Haha!

Good luck with the job, Moonwatcher. Hope it goes well for you. :)

Not much I can do except being philosophical. May moan about my job (I mean, we all do I expect), but it could be much worse. Would never want to go back to being unemployed!!

Thanks. Yes you're right. It's human nature I suppose to have a moan about it, but it does beat being unemployed. I hope my earlier comment came across OK - the 'haha' was about me being philosophical about my interview chances, not about you not getting yours.

Yep. Absolutely fine. :) I was just having a moan in my head about the job centre, as one does. :p No matter how bad work gets, it sure beats the alternative. :)

Just sorted out my dinner...having that Thai curry I mentioned a few days ago, although I am incredibly frightened by the pp in the jar of sauce (22pp for the sauce alone!) so I suspect I won't be getting it again! Expect the problems is the coconut milk, but there's bound to be an alternative...so that shall be my next cooking mission, to try an find a recipe for a low pp green Thai curry.
The one good thing is, though, that it's meaning I won't drink too much tonight, as I've nearly run out of weeklies between that sauce and the bar of chocolate I intend to eat later for the weekend treat. lol.

Morning. It goes back many years to when I was setting up my email account. Couldn't think of what to put for it, and I happened to be listening to Ravel's Bolero while I was setting it up...so bolero it was. Bolero had been taken, though, so Hotmail gave the number on the end as a suggestion.

Waiting until a bit later on for breakfast, as I've got a funny work day again. Not in until 12:30, but then I get a break at 2:30 ready to dart across to the other side of the county to work at 4. Can't say I'm looking forward to that aspect of today!
