Steps In The Right Direction...86.6lbs Lost Fasting

Udon noodles are just a type of noodle, thicker than a regular noodle. I got mine in Tesco. They come dried in a pack and 50g dried is around 175 calories and gives you a good bowlful on a DD....and they cook in 4 minutes :D I also like the Soba noodles they do which are made out of buckwheat. Be warned though Asda sell Udon and Soba noodles and the nutritional information on the pack is wrong. The nutritional information is cooked not dried weight and it says the calories for half a pack when really they mean half of one of the bundles (each 250g pack contains 3 bundles of noodles) This is a massive difference! They grudgingly admitted it when I complained as when I looked at the values it didn't make sense.

Thanks for the explanation and the warning! Will definitely be trying out the Udon noodles :)

Someone needs to hide all the food as I have the munchies tonight

Tuesday - UD

Breakfast - All bran, semi skimmed milk, banana

Lunch - Homemade broccoli soup, 3 Warburtons brown sandwich thins with light laughing cow and ham

Dinner - Baked trout fillet, new potatoes, carrots, sweetcorn and asparagus

Snacks - Skinny mocha
Jelly, sponge fingers, peaches and cream
Packet of Sunbites crisp things
3 slices of wholemeal toast and butter

And I'm still hungry....I'm like a bottomless pit tonight! I will show self control however and take myself off to my bed. One high point of today was buying new jeans. I got to throw my old very generous (...stretched beyond belief by my increasing size, ample backside and sturdy thighs!!) size 20s out and am now in a pair of 18s....even when sitting down and after a full day's eating :p

Congrats on the size 18 jeans! I always think that jeans are the real test, as other clothes stretch more easily haha! I dream of being a size 18, because to me that's 'normal' sizing, rather than plus sizing if that makes sense.

I have 'hollow' days now and then when I just can't fill myself up, or maybe it's that I can't satisfy myself? I don't think you did too badly though?

 Full of the cold and feeling grotty but still sticking to plan...maybe a bit high on my UDs

Wednesday - DD

Lentil soup with 2 1/2 scan bran- 198 calories
Skinny cappuccino - 50 calories
Coke zero - 5 calories
Tuna light lunch - 218 calories

Total day's calories - 471

Thursday - UD

Breakfast - All bran with semi skimmed milk

Lunch - Pittas with salad and chickpea and lentil dip

Dinner - Noodles with chicken and veg with a sticky bbq sauce

Snacks - 2 mini babybel light
Homemade bran biscuit...was vile
Strawberry greek yogurt
4 miniature heroes
And then I wolfed down a whole packet of M&S cheese tasters....100g....520 calories....at 10.30pm  Ho hum it's done now!

Today I have woken up and can't taste anything due to the cold, so minimal effort going into today's food.

Friday - DD

Scan bran cake - 219 calories
Miso soup sachet - 18 calories
4 x Crackerbread - 76 calories
1 x light laughing cow - 25 calories
Vegetable and rice soup - 142 calories
Coke zero - 5 calories

So today's calories will come in at 485. I have drunk far more coke zero than usual the past few days but I'm using it as a substitute for the copious amounts of chocolate I'd normally eat when feeling under the weather.

Weigh in day tomorrow.

Hi - sorry to hear u have a cold - I have had one for over a week but the good news was I lost my appetite (v rare 4 me!) and I lost 3.5 lbs this wk!

hope u feel better soon

REALLY well done on the size shift and the fact that they fit ALL the time and not just in the shop when you're sucking it all in and turning bluer by the second....

Weigh in....4lbs off!! :banana dancer: So today marks 75 days of doing 3 fasting days a week (less over 2 week Christmas and New Year period) and I've lost 25lbs, I'm just over a quarter of my way to target and I've lost more than 10% of my starting weight. I'm so happy that this is working for me. It doesn't feel like dieting, it's just 3 days of "work" a week. And I don't skimp on my 4 normal eating days to get results. If I average my calories out over the week combining UDs and DDs it is roughly between 1450 and 1600 calories a day...was 1648 this week due to the family pack of crisps I scoffed the other night :D I know that fasting is just a way of doing calorie restriction to enable weight loss with purported health benefits thrown in but the format of it makes it easier for me personally to stick to. If I was eating 1600 calories day in day out I know I would have cheated by now if not given up or worse slashed my calories to try and speed up weight loss. I am very happy losing between 1 and 2lbs a week for putting in such minimal effort. I'd do cartwheels in the living room today with weigh in result but fear for the safety of dog and OH if I landed on them :p

that's brill - well done!

HI Ali.

I LOVE your diary!!
I researched 4:3 as an alternative to calorie counting and then found your diary whilst I was waiting in A&E (horrible urine infection but a story for another time) I read the the entire thing between yelps of pain. Haha.
Anyway you have been a massive inspiration and today is my first fast day.
Please keep posting, you have a lovely writing style and are a great advert for intermittent fasting.

Believe me I know what you mean about plus size clothes and normal clothes! I hated shopping for years. Certain shops were ruled out and even the ones that had larger sizes made me break out in a cold sweat. If something fitted I'd buy one in every colour they had....just because it fitted....not because I liked it! These were just cheap jeans from Asda (£10!!) but it did give me a bit of a boost when they fitted. Every pound lost is a pound nearer to being able to wear clothes I really WANT to x

Worst of it seems to be gone thankfully, but instead of putting me off my food I just wanted to eat everything  Congratulations on your great loss!! xx

Yeah, there is only so long you can hold your breath before you let it out and the button flies off and near takes someone's eye out :p Or that awful feeling when after eating something your stomach is so squished you just want to take the blooming things off. Was nice to go the whole day without any discomfort!!

A&E and reading my diary!...I hope they gave you some good pain relief! :p Thanks for the really kind words and I'm glad you are giving fasting a go. Hope you had a good and easy first fast and let me know if you have a diary so I can have a nosy :) x

The past couple of days have been pants. Work woes, massive fight with OH...then massive fight with sister and just generally feeling stressed and really emotional. The old me would have eaten my feelings and then some. And then I'd have eaten some more because I felt guilty for eating!! This time though I didn't. Overeating wasn't going to solve anything it would just create another problem to add to my ever increasing list. So although I am so grumpy and snarky I should come with my own hazard warning I have stuck to plan.

Wednesday - DD

Tomato and beetroot salad with 2 quorn peppered steaks - 321 calories
Sugar free jelly - 8 calories
Coke zero - 5 calories
Skimmed milk in 2 teas - 35 calories
2 crackerbread with a light laughing cow - 63 calories
Popcorn - 51 calories

Total calories - 483

Thursday - UD

Breakfast - Crunchy bran with skimmed milk

Lunch - Wholemeal toast with low low chilli cheese spread and wafer thin ham. Some Yeo Valley lemon curd yogurt.

Dinner - Baked smoked haddock, baked potato, carrots, greens beans, sweetcorn.

Snacks - 2 mini babybel light
Popcorn
More lemon curd yogurt and 4 mini meringues

DD tomorrow. Weigh in Saturday morning and then away to see family for rest of weekend so will probably munch a fair few calories!

Brilliant that you can now stop yourself from comfort eating, I hope to reach this goal sometime in my life! Amazing.

Friday - DD

All bran and skimmed milk - 200 calories
M&S chicken chow mein - 285 calories
Coke zero - 5 calories

Total calories - 490

Supposed to be going to see OH's parents this weekend but I've decide to stay home. He and I aren't speaking and I think a bit of space will do us good (...or be the final nail in the coffin ). Plus I don't think it's fair to inflict an atmosphere on his parents....and really they make it clear it's him they want to see not me anyway! For once I can't summon up the oomph to put a face on things and pretend, so I'm putting me first for probably the first time...ermm...ever!! Planning a duvet weekend.

Hopefully it'll do u both good to have some space -but try to stay on plan - take care

Weigh in day....another 2.6lbs gone :bunnydance: Really happy with weigh in and looking forward to a weekend of doing nothing much :D Planning on getting a takeaway tonight but aside from that will be sticking to my normal weekend eating pattern.... despite the fact I'm on my own and could go totally off the rails and no one would know :p I just don't seem to have the urge to binge when 4 days a week I'm allowed to have something if I want it. I definitely feel more relaxed about food these days and that's coming from a long time emotional eater. I love fasting and all the benefits it is bringing me aside from losing weight.

Brilliant loss, really well done. I find my attitude to "dieting" has changed dramatically in this one short week I have been on the plan. Enjoy your weekend!

That's a great loss! I agree with Kitty, I already feel so different in my attitude towards food, and if that's what we can achieve in one week, I am really excited to see how this pans out long term.

It's really encouraging Ali, to see that you are still so enthusiastic about this way of eating as you're so much further down the line than I am, and that you're still having brilliant losses. A true inspiration.

Thanks ladies :) x

Feel a ranty post coming over a comment I received elsewhere, but common sense tells me to leave it till I'm less ratty and tired. Good old totm is rearing its head and probably explains why I've been so super sensitive...blooming hormones!! Happy with this weekend's food and looking forward to another successful fasting week ahead.
