surviving Easter

How are people planning on surviving the upcoming holiday without completely going mad?

Where I live the national vegetable is pork, best if breaded and fried. As I'll be a guest in someone's home it would likely be rude not to eat what is offerred. And, most people around here have no sympathy or understanding for 'dieters' - oh come on, one giant wienerschnitzel won't kill you... etc. Do I just pick a small one and eat it and keep my mouth shut?

What are others planning on doing if invited to an Easter do?

I plan on eating as much chocolate as I'm bought and worrying about it after :D

Is there any way of scraping off the breadcrumbs subtly? I don't see pork being a massive issue since some versions of the book allow it, although I'd treat it with caution!

I'm one of those weirdos who really doesn't like chocolate, so I'll be ignoring it as usual. "Easter egg" from parents this year was a plant pot :) however, White chocolate is my nemesis. So I'm avoiding that aisle completely until after the holiday! :) x

Its easy for me despite being a chocoholic because I live alone, my parents are the only ones that would buy me an egg but I normally say don't bother and buy my own, because they live 300 miles away!

I'll be spending most of my Easter break in the garden anyway if the weather is good.

I agree that the pork won't be the issue - how it is cooked and presented would be - I would honestly try to stick to Dukan as much as you can - people will not notice what you actually eat just if you don't take it at all so take a small piece and try and fill up on the friendly stuff - veg/salad. I would try to avoid carbs and sugar and if that means consuming a bit more fat then so be it! As for the choccy issue - none will pass my lips as just not worth it - can't believe I said that - but honestly just don't have the craving for it!!! I MISS cake more than anything but even the birthday cake sat in front on my on Friday didn't have me reaching for a slice - think my brain has gone barmy!!!! LOL!

P.S - currently have 7 easter eggs stored in my bedroom - never has this happened before, they have been there about a month and I haven't touched them - honestly that is a miracle. LOL!

we dont do anything special for easter or buy choclate so no temptations.... we are however going out on the staurday evening for dinner with some of hubbys workmates but they have made sure we are going to a restraunt that will cater for my special diet

Dukan has cured my choccie addiction, cos normally this kind of thread would make me desire chocolate, but honestly, I don't miss it. I've told mine and hubby's parents not to get us eggs, don't want to fall off wagon for something I'm not that bothered about right now

As for the meal, be strong as it won't be worth throwing out all the good work for one meal. As said before, stick to veg and salads, scrape off the crumbs and say a polite but firm 'no' when offered naughty treats. It's how you say the word 'no' that matters, polite and firm stops people hassling you to eat!

Hope this helps?

For me Easter will have to be..... hard boiled eggs. Could be very artistic ......paint them or tie dye them like we used to as children, but no chocolate ones.

I've bought an easter egg :D I checked the date on it and it will keep 'til after my goal date, it will be part of my gala meal when I reach true weight :).

Nobody else will buy me any chocolate treats, I do all the cooking so meals wont be a problem....if I had to socialise I'd invite people here or try to direct the proceedings to a decent steakhouse/restaurant :)

To be honest I've missed Mother's day, birthdays and so I would be tempted to just decline any invitations 'til after I'm at true weight, I figure there will always be another birthday or easter, it's not worth deviating from the plan and taking longer to get to goal x

Well said alottolose!

It takes me weeks every year to pick my egg - it's what I do :) I'm doing the same this year, had chosen Forrero Roche but the stupid thing was best before May '12 so no good to me.. I'll be picking an egg, I just won't be eating it until I reach goal and even then it will probably take about a month as I'll take my time!

I havent even thought about what im going to do over easter yet.

Thankfully Im not a chocoholic-I like it but could live without it. :p

For me its the school hols that are a nightmare, I just dont get time to plan and cook everything I want for me. Think I may have to spend the next couple of days planning.

I will have to think about what Im going to do easter morning. I usually cook boiled eggs and soldiers. Think I may have to get some asparagus and use them as soldiers instead. ;)

All of you have given me the courage to just say no!:p
I'm sure the only 'salad' will be a mayonnaisy potato thing so basically I'll just have an extra large breakfast at home, pack up some sweetener to put in my bag and pick at the fried pork a bit. The hostess will spend at least 3 days baking the yummiest desserts so that's going to be a tough one (and then she packs up several pounds of goodies for us to take home). Well, it's only one afternoon and I'll get through it somehow, hopefully still on the wagon, so to speak:)

Sounds yummy, especially the pork, its a favourite of mine. You're making me hungry, I'll have to go have some yogurt and rhubarb. :)

Trudy I just noticed your stats - you are doing PHENOMENAL and I understand why you wont touch any! Once I get past 20 lbs I don't think I will either!!!! :flirt2:

We're on holiday over Easter for a week, I think I might allow myself some Devon treats but only if I do actually fancy them rather than it being because they're there. I really haven't been tempted to cheat at all so far, even if people are waving sweets in my face I might get tempted but it's only because it's there, not because I want it! I'm hoping that the next 10 days have good losses, as that'll keep me motivated to not have any treats whilst I'm away, but if I do, a few days PP, no real harm done.
