Hello lovelies! My new start is going ok, thanks. I don't want to get on the scales for at least 2 weeks though, as I dishearten easily. The good news is that I'd only put on a little more than I was when I started in January, if that. (My skinny hubby told me that the scales were wrong as he got on them and it was out by a few pounds (heavier), so he started weighing stuff on them that he knew the weight of... brand new they were too! Anyway, I digress.)
I started again on Monday and I have been on track with the EE plan since then. I'm proud to say that this is in spite of a very stressful week! I'm sure you're all familiar with what stress does with CFS/ME... so on top of that I have been harbouring a fear of relapse: Double whammy!
I'm starting to get cravings for a takeaway curry though. I'm not sure if it would be too early to start using Syns on full meals. I suppose if I had one third salad/veg and plain rice it could work... What does everybody else think/do?
I can completely relate to the bad spells. It's like food is the only thing you have to resort to when you're stuck at home with symptoms. Be kind to yourselves though: It's easier for people with a higher activity level (and better concentration!) but we can do this. You have both already proven that you can lose so just stay focused on that. I haven't lost anything yet so I don't know why I'm being so blooming positive, ha!
ha so you weigh less than you thought ,thats something at least.
i did start on thursday but ended up stuffing cashew nuts in my face before bedtime.just got to get organised again and eat more free meals.dont seem to like the full feeling after a bigger meal at all,my son dished up last night and because i nearly ate everything on my plate i felt awful.
i decided to have a takeaway curry last week after a very long time but i had veg biriyani (sorry cant spell it) instead of veg korma and paneer+pea (cheese)curry.i only ate half and threw the rest away 9(my partner only eats organic and poor chap is allergic to garlic,he has a muscle disease called mitrochondrial myopothy and tries to eat very naturally).the first mouthful was a shock -the grease ! i did actually enjoy it and dont think i'll be craving one for a long time again now .you can either think right i'll have one and then try not to for say a month or two or think i'll have one in a month as a reward. chicken tikka, rice and salad or veg curries that are tomato based are better choices.
cooking a curry ? there are loads of recipes on sw.
i made a tomato and coconut (i know ) curry recipe i found online and it was just like the sauce i have in my favourite restaurant and only the cocont was syned.
the main curry i make is very basic but tasty.spray a large frying pan with oil(1 syn for 7 sprays),put one teaspoon cumin seeds (and mustard seeds if you have) in but dont burn them just fry to release the flavour. chuck in a chopped onion, mushroom or any veg,fry till theyre browned.cover with boiling water, put in a teaspoon of ground coriander, half a teaspoon ground turmeric, between a quarter to half a teaspoon chilli powder.put in a cup(ish) of washed red lentils.bring to boil and then cover and simmer till the lentils are cooked (about 20 mins).the lentils soak up the water and are prone to sticking to the bottom of the pan so check ,stir ,add a little more water if its looking too thick.you can stir garam masala (1 tsp)into a small glass of natural yog(fat free) and stir this in before serving or squeeze in lemon juice or a piece of creamed coconut block(syns).add salt to the curry to taste.sorry its not very exact but its one of the things i can make without thinking.
its wonderful that youre feeling positive.im really going to try again today.my arms particularly painful this week ,i moved some furniture last week (with my son)and did some major cleaning, nothing has got done in my flat for so long.its in major need of a change.
going to make soup and chop my sad pineapple up now...
