The really slow loss team!

Lost 2lbs this week. Alas, slow losers, panic not. It only cancels out my 1lb gain from last week. Half a pound more for my stone award. Frustrating! Reckon my body will allow me a measley half? Heh, we'll see! Keep plodding on, fellow tortoises. Might be Christmas 2015 but we'll get there, eventually.
 
binned the mackerel pate, its not very nice with plain tinned mackerel yuk!!!
Ok then back to the smoked mackerel and syn it! Not fair its it?
How about trying it with tuna? That may work. Or even salmon.
 
I have smoked salmon pate using 2 bags of the trimmings that are really cheap, a pot of cottage cheese with onion and chive, dill and chives. Free on red and ee. Lush.

You may be able to tell, I feel quite passionately about this mackerel/fish pate thing...:p

The 'salmon bits' mix is really gorgeous, I had that the other day, and today I've mixed tinned pink non-smoked salmon with my He A allowance of Light Laughing Cow triangles, bit of lemon, salt and pepper, voila! It IS a bit runny and not quite as lovely as using smoked mackerel, but still nice! :)

But yeah, as you've worked out the syns for the smoked version, maybe just have that - probably worth it!? Completely do not get why smoked mackerel is synned and smoked salmon is free, but hey, who am I to question??! :rolleyes:

yeah ill just syn it, even if i ate half of it, its 5 syns, but now i know about it i can plan for it and is certainly worth it as its yummy. just wish i had known 3 weeks ago when i started having 3x280g packs a week-at least. lol what a fool i am!! ive not been using my syns much the last few days, if im hungry rather than thinking ooh ive got 15 syns i have been saving most of my tea for later as im not often hungry at tea time and snacking on fruit and so far so good. even resisted a takeaway that my hubby and son helplfully ate in front of me grr

The other one I don't get are all the ones where there are double entries in the Hex list. For example 369g of stewed apples is a HexB. BUT 198g of stewed apples is a SPEED HexB. There's loads of examples like this all over the book and I really don't understand it.

How can a half portion be speedier?
If I have 2 half portions as 2 HexBs is this twice as speedy?

Can anyone shed any light?

Bless you, thank Hannah. I'm thrilled with it to be honest. Just wish I'd had a bigger wee or wore lighter trousers and could have just squeezed that last half. :)
 
A virtually unheard of 2lbs off for me this week - I am amazed!

Like HelsAngel it really only cancels out the 3lb gain on my birthday weekend, but I am going the right way.......... albeit still very slowly :8855:

No loss in body fat this week either, but I haven't had the time to do much more than the usual 2 mile a day Dobie walks this week :sigh:

I won't make the August challenge I'm afraid; however, I have reached my second goal of losing 5% of my overall body mass (9lbs) so that is cause for a small celebration methinks :woohoo::woohoo:

i was reading this last night ! i really dont get it at ALL
 
i didnt know that about the half portion being speedier?? very strange?? maybe cos stewed veg has more calories in than raw veg so the more you eat of it obviously the less likely you are to loe weight so if you use half a portion as your hexb its using your hexb up but your protion is less so youll lose weight quicker?? does that make sense?? its like halving your bread allowance or cheese allowance you would lose weight quicker cos your having less cals. thats the only thing i can think of xx
 
After my measley 0.5lb off this week gonna be a bit stricter with myself for a few days.

Today so far:

Brekkie - 2 boiled eggs (no toast)
& banana

Snack - 2x alpen light bars

Lunch will be speed soup

Snack more fruit

Tea will be quorn fishless fingersx2 (2 syns each) SW chips & salad

Still got some syns to use.

Sounds like a green day to me!!

I think I will have another disappointing STS or gain on Tuesday as eating is not going well at all. I was off work today and I went to the cinema with a friend and we got free salted popcorn. I am trying not to think of the syns but I did only eat today

thats not bad, i got salted popcorn at cinema and was sad and weighed it lol, half of a small bag is 5 and a half syns, and i was quite satisfied after that. did you have a lot? if not you may not have even gone over your syns?

i had today
breakfast-banana
dinner-spanish omelette, salad and beetroot
tea-2 salmon fillets, broccolli, carots, cauliflower
snacks-raspberries, and a options hot choc

not eating anymore now, as i have stomach ache

Everyone's doing great...HelsAngel, your post made me laugh, I am the same at WI, I always go to the loo first and I'm like, come on, please let this make a difference!!! haha loads of the girls at group say they do the same thing! :D

Fruit, tuna, sweetcorn, all good except the Latte and the popcorn, and that's probably just HeA and syns! That sounds fine to me, and if there were too many syns then a few days back on track will definitely sort you out :)


I went a bit overboard on syns today. One of my work colleagues was leaving so there was cake, plus I was feeling a bit down cos the weather has been so rubbish (REALLY affects my mood, need to figure out a way around that as winter comes along...hmm) among other things going on, and ended up having some crackers on top of my HeB allowances, and a few more pieces of chocolate than I should, and worked out that the syns I've had today come in at about 20 (eek). :eek:

I can usually get away with that one/two days, but I'm going to the cinema on Sunday and then probably out for dinner, and then to my family's house for lunch on Monday, when I won't be able to choose what the food is. Eeek!! :confused: REALLY don't want to have a bad WI after last week's success but if I overeat on syns for 3 days running I think I'm going to be so upset come WI..:cry:

Any tips/helpful hints?! Isn't it weird how you can feel great about SW one day and not so great the next?! Socialising and sweet things are my big problem area. Got a sweet tooth and once I get going I find it hard to stop, plus if I'm not cooking for myself, or going out, it all goes out the window. Anyone else find this?!


Maybe I'm just panicking and having a rant and it will all be ok, but thought I'd ask...! haha sorry guys....

hey hun socialising and my mood are my downfalls. in regards to cinema, why dont you take some snacks with you that are either free or withing your syn allowance? and in regards to the meal and lunch at friends, ask your friend what he/she is plannig to cook and explain your not being rude but your desperately trying to lose weight and need to budget your syns for it. that way at least you can have a flexi syn day and feel like your still in control, and in regards to a meal, depending on where you are going i always tend to go for steak and salad or something like that, that i know is free or very low syn. or a curry i go for a hot and not so creamy one. if you can prepare cos you know what your heading into it will be better for you as you could always look up the type of restaurant your going to in your book and have in your head whats low syn so you can make better choices xx
