We got our cake from asda, just had one tier though & decorated it with flowers...

Have u checked out Costco?

Our wedding cost £2000...

We had registry office, a sit down buffet at golf club, my dress was from a charity shop that specialises in wedding dresses. The dresses are end of range from bridal shops so all new.

My bridesmaids dresses from monsoon in the sale. Flowers were done by a florist friend. We just played all our music from the ipod through the speakers in the room.

All my friends/family said it was the best wedding they'd been to...

We too had a very low budget wedding and imo, it was none the worse for it. Cake was from Sayers, just a sponge cake but beautifully iced. 35 quid :D, hired dress from a bridal shop, had a meal at a Carvery after the wedding and an evening reception at a place that did free room hire and DJ. Friend did buffet for me for 1.50 a head and my wedding shoes were purple Dr Marten boots :D

At the end of the day, you can throw as little or as much money as you can reasonably afford to at the day itself but its not about any of the superficial stuff, its about the love and the commitment and the life you are promising to share. That's the important bits. The rest is just dressing.

We spent less than £250 on ours we had 10 guests, family only, MIL did a lunch and we had a meal in the evening at the Hotel we stayed overnight in, complete with a Mrs Overall waitress lol! We got married 27th Nov with three weeks notice. It was a really warm day too. I loved every minute of it and wouldn't have done it differently! I was offered a free church service and wedding breakfast from my church. But we didn't want a big fuss and i couldnt bear people looking at me! I was much more shy then!

Isn't it beautiful how different everyone's weddings are its one of the reasons I enjoy going to a wedding lol

My sisters getting married august so excited!

That's seriously impressive BB - where do you live? My sister is getting married next year, and she'll be doing it on a similar budget, so I could do with letting her know where you got your dress from? I'm really looking forward to her wedding. It will be at a nice registry office, followed by a reception at e local boat club. I'm going to help do the food for the day buffet, and my OH is going to help out on the music front. My mum will be doing flowers, and my grandad will be walking her down the aisle like he did me. There won't be anything flash or ostentatious, but I reckon everyone will have a great time & a good laugh.

It is horses for course, I went to my friends wedding last summer - it had obviously had a lot of money spent on it, posh hotel, posh dinner, choreographed first dance etc etc, but I just couldn't relax as it was so formal. However, it was the perfect wedding for my friend - it was exactly what she wanted.

We got our cake for our reception back at home from Costco & it was lovely - definitely worth a look for those of you looking to save some money. I think ours was about £20.

Hi hun its in Bracknell....if you search oxfam wedding shop on Google it'll bring up their website. I had to make an appointment...its just a small part of the shop but they had loads of dresses. They do lots of other stuff too...

The budget we had chicken, salads, quiches, sausages, etc got the chicken etc from Costco altho you could get costings from local butchers. It was a hot sunny day so it was lovely not to have a big meal. Our wedding was at 3pm...

Also I made a lethal punch for guests on arrival & wine for the toast. We did the usual speeches, first dance etc....

So glad I never spent a fortune as 2 years later our marriage went wrong & we would've still been paying of stuff if we had gone for an expensive day....

Ninnins, your friend has poor poor taste- that's an amazing dress. Mine isn't full length :D

Will also get her to the reading Costco, & e punch is a wicked idea!

And as I said before - your ex being a knobhead is not your fault!

Take a look on that website hun they've stores in other places too...

For the punch I just bought the cheap voddie, different fruit juices & slices of Orange, lemon & strawberries was lethal lmao...x

They've got stores in York & Bradford...don't think they are far from Hull unless my geography is rubbish lol xx

We spent less than £400 because we wanted a nice honeymoon and didn't want to get into debt for one party, albeit an important and special party. it was still kind of just a day to us.
my whole outfit: £230
jim's suit hire: £63
reg office: £90
little bridesmaids (2): second hand dresses and shawls, £3.50 each.
pageboys (2): wore their own ties
flowers: £10 for bouquet, bridesmaids and button holes
maid of honour: wore her own dress
bridal car: used our own. it was a pretty car!!
transport for family and friends: used their own. we did a lot of shuffling and carpools lol. managed to fit 30 people into 8 cars.
photos and video: done by my aunt and uncles
reception: held at parents' house, catered by my mum. we even had a whole poached salmon and some packs of smoked salmon she'd bought in the january sale at sainsbury's and frozen lol. most of the food was very 1980s posh, but we loved it!
music for reception: we brought our own music collection, stereo, amp and speakers to my parents' house. was all set up by hubby. Yes. my wedding music was pretty much all on Minidisc.
booze: donated by family and friends in lieu of gifts (bring a bottle reception!)
cake: my mum and my mum's friend, mum made the bottom tier, her friend the top. I made a sponge for anyone who didn't like fruitcake.

I think the most expensive part of the wedding was my corset.... and I still wear that lol.

our honeymoon was a late deal to the south of france. £750 for flights, airport parking, french car hire and basic indemnities and self catering apartment. we paid another £100 for better insurance on the hire car and a slightly better parking space in the uk, had hotel taxes and car parking fees to pay once we arrived and then ate out a couple of times but mostly bought food to cook at the self catering flat... basically the whole honeymoon cos us about £1200. we did half up front, and half on a credit card which we paid off in full the next month (oh I miss the days when I had an income lol!). it was the best holiday I had had in my life, to that point. that was in 2005 and it's only just been trumped by last year's week in a chalet in norfolk lol.

Your all making me feel so ashamed of what we spent on our wedding lol
