Tipperary will rock 2025

Was just thinking we hadn't heard from you! Glad to see you back. Will catch up on posts properly later x

Battening down the hatches for storm Elwyn, we have a red wind warning for the whole country 😧 I've never seen that before.

Stay safe, Tipperary! We were in the red zone before Christmas. It was pretty sketchy in some places!

Wow that was some storm. Chainsaws out all over the place after it trying to clear trees to open roads. We had spent about 4 hours in the garden making it safe beforehand and good job too. We tide down the trampoline, the swings and the playhouse. Our neighbours trampoline is two fields away. Our across the road neighbour lost a huge poplar tree, it would have smashed through our gate except it's stuck on the phone lines. We lost power at 4am but it was back at 10am thankfully but phone network still gone. We lost a fence panel and some roof slates, not bad when at 4am we thought the whole roof was lifting.

Glad you saw it through safely, Tipp.

eek sounds scary, Tipp, but glad you made it through! It's just been so wet and windy here, but nothing like you guys had with power cuts etc.

Morning all, I don't know what it is but struggling to get my mojo back. Same 2 kilos bouncing up and down. Off to have a catch up and will be back later.

Weather here is cold but good.
Been out for a walk now 4 days in a row with 5.8 km being the longest. Roads can be slippy and muddy and sometimes we walk on a farm track so went out this weekend and bought proper hiking boots. Tested them yesterday on a 2km walk, they feel a bit heavier than my runners on the road but definitely give better grip on mud and grass tracks. Fels a bit tight on my right little toe but I think that was more to do with the socks I wore. Went for a second 2km walk yesterday evening when daughter came home so a total of 4km yesterday. Blister on my little toe now, going to look for comfier socks with no seams at the toes.

Was back with Stroke consultant last week, a much more thorough evaluation than my previous one. That was a "you're alive, you're fine, take these meds" visit, no input from me. This registrar wasn't happy with my blood pressure readings so saw the consultant ( not actually mine who is off sick) who was very thorough. Ive to have a 24 hour BP monitor this week and then have scans of eyes, heart and kidneys. I'm not concerned but happy to have the checks anyway. And we agreed to disagree over the use of statins, they didn't try to convince me I had to take them.

Food has been ok this week, I had lots of food prep done and am working my way through homemade keto chicken goujons, keto lasagne with courgette and aubergine in place of pasta, kale, courgette and peppers and lots of green leaves. I've to make mayonnaise today and will make some coleslaw, not strictly keto with the carrot but I use little of it and do like it, better than a slice of toast any day.
Ate out on Sunday, had goats cheese starter and then fish and chips, but without the chips and with salad, left half the batter behind.
I've been eating about 4 meals every 3 days, aiming for one big late lunch each day and maybe two small meals on a day that doesn't suit. The second meal may be as simple as a slice of ham and a slice of cheese. I want to eat even less processed foods and now that's only ham, cheeses and once a week rashers and sausages. So looking for fresher and healthier alternatives. Ideally I'd like to make my own sausages but that's a project for another time

Big challenge for this week is to get back my swimming and physio routine, I haven't done either since having flu before Christmas. My hips are getting sore again so need the physio routine to strengthen them. And you can see the tops of my arms and along the bra line getting flabbier due to no swimming.
Now that I have food and walking sorted these are next.
Great catch up, chat later.

Sounds like you're getting back on it and super organised. I basically live in my walking boots when the weather is bad! Definitely worth getting decent socks. I quite like the two-layer ones for blister prevention

Thanks, I haven't seen those. I did get some comfy ones yesterday and just tested them and they seem fine with the boots, both definitely a good purchase. Just in from a 2.5km walk on a track, would have gone further but need to get to GP to get BP monitor taken off. Was still a good workout, 2km on the track takes twice as long and more effort than 2km on the road.
Went swimming yesterday, yay, so happy with that. 20 swim lengths and then 250 abs and arm exercises. It's a start, plan was to go again today but exhausted as was awake all night with the BP monitor so once it's off I'm coming home for lunch and a nap. Little kids want to go for a walk when they come home at 5pm so will do that if it's dry..Couldn't really get an accurate weight this morning as wearing the monitor but really hoping to hit 66kg this week, lowest was early December at 66.2kg but was up to 68kg mid January and bouncing within those 2 kilos since.
Thai green chicken curry with Konjac noodles for lunch and will see then if I want to eat later. I made the mayonnaise yesterday, I made it thinner than usual and with lime juice and extra mustard it's lovely.

Sounds like a GREAT start, not just a start!

I need to get back into swimming. I've been doing workouts mornings instead, but I do miss getting in the pool. And I know it's nice and quiet first thing. Perhaps a mix up will help me get my whoosh loss as well.

We are lucky, we have two leisure centres side by side. One council owned and one in a hotel both with pools, gyms and steam room/sauna facilities. I've been a member of the hotel leisure centre on and off for 20 years now. At the moment I have yearly membership but only use the pool, and I seem to be hit and miss with that. If I can get up and out this morning before 9am I will go. It's busy at 7am but 0830 to about 1400 is quiet enough.
Back from GP and BP results not got, blood pressure is sky high even though I am on BP meds. I'm annoyed as last time it was checked in December it was normal, or some GP said. Anyway I've to take another medication for it 😭. I'm wondering is it because I haven't been exercising at all...I don't know.
Good news though, unofficial weigh in this morning has me at 66.1kg, that's the lowest I've been in 30 years and really hoping to get below 66kg for weekly weigh in on Saturday.
