TOUGH LOVE-APPLY WITHIN

C'mon guys we need to pull pursues together or were in danger of becoming the excuses group. We put the food in our mouths we can choose not to. I bought some mints while I was at work and refused to bring food home with me as i HAVE to get back to being sensible. What would help you all?

I need to have this mindset, I KNOW exercise helps me to feel better so I'm going to drag my ass to the gym tomorrow night

I can't get my head in the game recently. I have been terrible and lazy with food! Heeeeelp!!

My holiday is 5 weeks tomorrow and I feel like a bloated whale!! :(

Sparty im the same had toothache n had my wisdom tooth removed just to worn out to cook :( i know excuses excuses but its really been a case ov grab n eat if i can

Since our illustrious leader is MIA, I'm going to say it for him- what a load of flim flam ladies! Come on Sparty! You're ONE POUND from goal last I checked and you're messing around feeling whiny and sorry for yourself? I understand your operation set you back a bit exercise wise but you've had no reason to not stick to it with the food. Lou is right- you are responsible for what goes in your mouth- you slip up, you own it, you move on. The end. You need to remind yourself of why you started this journey in the first place! Sitting on your bum, eating what you like is not going to make you feel better. You need make a plan for the next day or the next couple of days and stick to it. I guarantee than a couple of days back on it will make you feel much better. Stop fretting about the big picture and focus on taking it a day at a time. You have achieved so much and throwing it all away now is not the answer.

Emma, I know that a wisdom tooth removal is painful, but you're right- what a terrible excuse!! Being worn out is not an excuse to eat rubbish! Last I checked soup is pretty healthy and good when you have a sore mouth, as are scrambled eggs! You could do porridge for breakfast! All of those can be quick- a tin of soup takes 5 minutes to heat up, max! The real reason is that you feel a bit sorry for yourself because your mouth hurts and you don't want to make the effort to make good food choices. All I'm going to say is that this is not going to help you achieve anything other than feeling disappointed in yourself, which will probably make you stay off track for longer. Get back on it today. I have the same advice for you as for Sparty- plan for the next day or the next couple of days and stick to it.

I agree with Lou. We do not want to become yet another thread of excuses. The whole point of TL is being honest with yourself. But it's not just that- it's about being proactive and doing something about it. I weighed myself this morning and my scales say I have a 6lb gain. I could complain about how it's not fair, about how my eating wasn't that bad, about how it's almost ladyfuntime blah blah blah. It isn't going to change anything- what will change everything is eating really well for the next few days, exercising, getting plenty of water and most importantly- sticking to it. Let's stop with this whining and half-heartedness and get back to it! There's 2 and a half months to Christmas and there's no reason why most of shouldn't be at or close to goal by that time! Let's show everyone else that the Excuses-filled approach is not the answer- honesty and accountability is.

YEAH!! lol feeling very motivated after that FL lol!

im off out tonight, i think everyones plan is to get drunk, and for some reason everyone's focus seems to be on getting me drunk..i think its coz i dont really go out much, but im hoping the more drunk everyone else gets the less they will notice what im drinking...and im just too old for all this hangover crap now lol, hangover + 4 kids = not a good day lol! i will enjoy myself, but i can do that without getting pi$$ed, and all the (attempted) dancing will burn some extra cals too!

hope everyone else has a great weekend! :)

You have all got to stop making excuses and get on with it. It seems as if any excuse is an excuse to eat. how can you eat if your mouth is sore? Most people who are tired don't have the energy to eat.

This thread is creeping into the mindset that you have to have a mindset!!! RUBBISH. You know what you have to do, you don't have to "psyche" yourselves into it, just do it. STOP obsessing with what you eat. The only mindset you need is one where you eat normally. It's being greedy that makes you fat, and being stoopid makes you choose the wrong things to eat. I've said it before and I'll say it again. All you peeps doing SW - get out those recipe books and drool over all the wonderful things you can have and LOSE THE WEIGHT!

Rod, where are you when you're needed!

Great post FL!!!

Loola hoop, well done you. And your right they won't notice. I we t away on a hen do Saturday and one of the girls only had 3 halves a lager I thought she'd been drinking same as the rest of us. Don't mention it or make a big deal
Out if not drinking and no one will know.

I'm wondering if rod, bonnie and smiley have fallen off the wagon? They've been mia for ages now. C'mon guys if your around and struggling let us know, don't hide away!!!

I'd just like to say. . . I love this thread. Was going to come on and complain about pigging out last night and being due on and being to scared to WI cause I know I've gained but honestly sod that. this is not rocket science: eat less, eat better, move more. That's it! A gain will come off with a bit of focus and forward planning and I am NOT going to beat myself up about on night of slippage after a really good week, I'm just going to move the f*ck on. End.

Yep. Move on. Plan. Do what you can to stop the pigging out happening again. Was it a girly night? Takeaway? Let us know and we can help you plan for those kind of social situations! Maybe do a little extra exercise to make yourself feel better today. I try to walk for a couple of extra hours if I can if I detour a little midweek.

I actually lost almost 3 stone when I was at Uni and I know how tough the socialising can be since you live with other people and stuff. You just have to be strong and really plan and be honest with the people you are living with. I generally found I always gained or STS if I had a big night of drinking. But, going off plan food wise never showed as drastically on the scale. If you can plan for those circumstances it becomes a lot easier. And remember- we eat roughly 21 meals a week. If 20 of those meals are on plan, you should be fine. You'd have to eat 3500 calories extra to put on 1lb of fat. Very difficult to do from one meal unless you are trying really hard ;)

I suspect Rod is busy with work but I really do hope Bonnie and Smiley are okay! Has anyone tried messaging them?

I've never read such a load of old cobblers in all my life - what is wrong with you lot??! Just get on with it - you either want to lose weight or you don't - and you know what you need to do to reach your goals. So cut whining, stop shovelling it down your hatches and get moving. Jeez!

Thanks for the butt kicking!! I really needed that! I think i need more!!

It's not only my operation that has been hindering me in my honest opinion. That was the trigger for sure but I delved straight into comfort food and because I let sorry for myself the old excuses came tumbling back.

It's four weeks since my operation today and I am officially allowed to exercise again. So I am back on it.

Good to hear that Sparty. 2 weeks to get that 2lb off then? :)

Thanks for the butt kicking! I think I need more help though....

My op was a reason that I couldn't exercise and I used it as an excuse to stray from plan. But my operation wasn't the only thing stopping me I don't think. I have been struggling financially so I haven't been able to eat as well as I did before - I love cooking new and different things so am always buying food and have had to cut back on that. As a result I am now lazy again :(

But I now want to get back to where I was before in terms of mindset and determination. My healthy extras have been hard to keep track of So I need to refocus on that and make healthy lunches and meal plans

Can anyone give me recipe ideas with lots of vegetables that won't cost much? I will do a veggie shop for the week tomorrow.

Hi Sparty - I'm not the best cook so a bit pants on any recipe advice. However a friend of mine swears by the BBC Good Food website. You can just use the search box to type in say Courgettes and up comes lots of courgette recipies. This might help you.

Personally I would be making lots of soup with veggies and doing some sort of roasted veggies you could have as an accompaniment. At least its the time of year now where there's lots of squash, sweet potato and root veg receipies kicking about.

For a cheap and cheerful meal I love a big tuna pasta and salad extravaganza.

Sparty I don't eat meat so eat a fair bit of veggie stuff, veg soups, lasagnes and chillis are dirt cheap, healthy and yummy. Roasted veg mixed through pasta/ quinoa etc.

Do you eat chickpeas/lentils etc? Thinks like chickpea or sweet potato curries are good and cheap, squash risotto, baked spuds
