Tracy's Journey Into The Unknown (Maintenance!!)

Mis-behave said:
Hi I was reading that most people with Gall bladder issues are or may have a problem with gluten? Don know if you have looked at this angle?

Thanks, Tara - I'm almost certain I have a problem with gluten, though I've never had that confirmed. I gave up bread some time ago, and only eat stuff like cakes and biscuits sparingly, and I can really tell the difference in how I feel. Can't quite give it up completely, as I just love cake too much, but I'm having a really good go at cutting down on it! Of course, ironically, it's cutting down on all the stuff like cake (ie. fat) that will have given me the gallstones in the first place, so you can't win, lol. Thanks again. :) xx

Well, I finally got to my 9 stone loss today. :) My original target was 12.5 stone, and I'm at that now but have now lowered my target to 12 stone, lol. At the end of the day I'd really like to have lost 10 stone, but am now taking it half a stone at a time to see how I go. Thought I'd scuppered any loss this week because my sister invited us to lunch on the spur of the moment yesterday, and she gave us homemade pie (yum!), bread and butter, and a massive banana longboat (divine!) for dessert. Felt so sick for the rest of the day, but boy was it worth it!! :) xx

Thanks, Lexie! I do feel proud, because I know so many people fail to do what we've achieved here, but I'll withhold being truly proud until I've seen if I can maintain, because I don't have to tell you that that's the hardest part! :) xx

Oh Lord yes it's hard & I failed but I won't do again it's just finding that happy medium.... I also had a lot of upset early this year around when I hit goal & I turned to food like I always do. Not this time, this is too important x

It's hard being an emotional eater, isn't it? Fortunately (I think!), unhappiness isn't one of my trigger emotions - I actually tend to eat less if I'm worried or upset. My overeating trigger is happiness/relaxation, so if I'm on holiday or celebrating something, or even just relaxing in the evening, it's intrinsically linked to food in my mind! Think I may have mentioned it before, but I'm reading a book called Beyond Temptation which is all about emotional overeating, identifying those triggers and dealing with the little "gremlins" that drive us to binge. It's by a pair of British sisters, I forget the names, and it's pretty good - I just downloaded it on Kindle. :) xx

Ooh I may have a look at that, might be useful for my nutrition course too x

Fine this end. Just home from a week away, Colchester seeing Dave's son and granddaughters and then a few days on Yorkshire, but tried to make healthy choices but indulged a few glasses of wine too. Hopefully a reasonable damage limitation by the time I weigh in this week :).

Ah right, I remember you saying now, thought I hadn't seen you post for a little while. Hope you had a great time - I'm sure the damage will be minimal. :) xx

Hi Tracy. Glad the op is behind you now. Natural that it would throw you out diet wise for a few days and will affect your ME too. I know you are sore now but long term will make such a difference to you, gall bladder symptoms really aren't nice. Be gentle on yourself and wishing you a speedy recovery xx we leave about 3 today but I'll try and check in a bit if I can :)

Thanks Sharon! I hope you have a fantastic holiday - hopefully I'll be fighting fit by the time you get back, lol. Still rather battered and bruised, but I'm sure that's to be expected. The diet's still a bit to pot, my sister just called in with a get well card and a chocolate orange - I can't see me resisting that for long! Ah well, you have to give yourself a break every now and then, don't you?! Have a fab time. :) xx
