I have been known to get good bargains in the reduced section at Tesco - especially on 'counter' packed stuff - so chicken breast fillets, tuna steaks - i just freeze them when i get them! Packs of salmon as well, i once picked up a whole salmon chopped up for about £15 - worth over £40 and we are still eating it!!! (it was approx 15 portions!) xxx
Are these fat free? We don't have Asda in Ireland but most of these flavoured packet noodles are coated in oil (fried) before drying. It came up in my meeting and the syns in some are
- Buy the extra cheap Asda own brand super noodles and use them in cooking - throw away the packet of seasoning - I think they are 17p each!!
Do you have an Asian supermarket nearby? I have a couple locally and their meat is much better quality than what I would buy at Asda and I've found you get about twice as much for your money! Last week we got 7 chicken breasts for about £9 and they were absolutely massive and taste much nicer than Asda where you would probably pay £6 for half the amount. They also didn't shrink with cooking. Also because you are at a meat counter you can order the exact amount you need and they have a variety of cuts (although they don't sell pork for obvious reasons!) You can also get things like herbs and spices and massive packs of rice/lentils cheaply.
