I'm just going to check out train time-tables/costs to see what the fares are and how long it will take. If I do still come, I am increasingly tempted to drive - even though it's an awful long way - as it's such a flaming nuisance to have to get the tube into London to get the train (and the same back of course).
Don't suppose there's an airport anywhere nearby is there?
Leeds Bradford Airport is 50 mins away from York and I will come and pick you up in the car!!!
Or you could look at Manchester Sharon and get a direct train to York from under the airport if the flights were cheaper into Manchester..xxx

Hmmm ... it looks like I can get a London Heathrow/Leeds Bradford flight with BMI for about £115.00 return at the moment. The return train fare from Kings Cross to York is about £80.00 - so there's not that much of a difference really.
Definitely food for thought for when I get back from my weekend away
