20 somethings

Oh jenna you nutter.

Hope weigh in went well mandy.

Thanks everyone for your kind words. Because he isn't well I am just going to weigh and go tomorrow morning. Bit upset because checking myself at home and it looks like a gain or maintain despite being 100% all week :( oh well. Got next week's evening meals written out so I can do an online shop tomorrow. Hope I get different news tomorrow but I doubt it. Boo hop stupid scales

Was still hungry after dinner. Thankful I made so much extra food at lunch time! Franny-two-dinners
B: banana, pear and a yogurt (all shared with toddler and dog!) 2 hifi light bars
L: syn free homemade pork fried rice.
Snack : an Apple an hea cheese and another hifi bar after my son picked off the mashmallows and stuffed it in my mouth!
D: pasta with prawns, fennel, rocket and spinach
More pork fried rice which has courgette, red onion, mange tous, red and yellow peppers, butternut squash and mushrooms so it is loaded with superfree

And I am STILL hungry. Crazy!

Hi ladies, sorry I've been MIA. Well done for those of you who've lost and maintained and anyone who's gained you'll get it off in no time :)

Had a crap week with my mum being in hospital and my routine was all over the place so whilst I followed plan I STS this week. A bit gutted but hoping for at least 2lbs off to get my 2.5 stone award and a total of 4 stone off since i had jack on Monday. Ideally I'd love 3.5lbs off to get into the 12 stone bracket, but we'll see what happens.

Hope you're all well and will try to get on a bit more! Xx

I still feel like crap today. I thought I was okay this morning but I'm glad I didn't go into work.

Weighed myself this morning and I'd lost 6lb since last night haha! Suppose that's what happens when I've not eat!

I drove to asda this morning and sat in the car outside and eat half a baguette. I feel like this I'd a new low point in my life lol!

Sammy i am so sorry to hear about your mum. I hope she is ok. Stress can stop the weight coming off, when things are better it'll probably drop off again.

Oh Clare, your naughty hubby making you ill. One woman in my group took butter out of the freezer and started eating it. There is always someone worse than you! Hope the weight stays off, pretty exciting.

Nate is still unwell, it is looking like it is his teeth now. Usually he isn't too bad with them. Thankfully these are the last ones for a while. He came for a cuddle and has fallen asleep on me. I had sw pancakes this morning and hopefully make soup for lunch, and biryani for tea. Feeling very organised and very tired.

Figured out why I got my STS this week... I got another star week yesterday! :( I only had one (my first since having Jack) just over two weeks ago, so looks like my body is still trying to sort itself out. Glad I know why I STS now as I was quite upset, but hopefully that means I'll get a great loss this week :)

I love comparing the weight i've lost to what my son weighs, he is approximately 16lbs now so I've lost nearly 3 and a half of him, it's amazing! He's so heavy just by himself, I don't know how I managed to walk around with all that extra weight on me! xx

Hi everyone,

Sorry have had a couple of busy days so haven't been able to log in and haven't had chance to read eveything.

Congrats on the loss Fran and well done for going to the gym Jenna.

Mandy hope WI went well, with the weather drawing in I think I have just the think, it's syn free and amazing, I make it in my slow cooker so it smells amazing but it's a cassoulet. I will post it in a mo for you...just have to find the recipe....also I can vouch for the xmas dinner soup which is in the recipe section being amazing and it's a good talking point. Syn free too :)

Almost Syn Free Cassoulet

Serves 6 - 8 (only syns in sausages unless you use wine, sorry don't have the syns for the wine)

Ingredients

  • Fry Light
  • 6 sausages, WW or Sainsburys BGTY cumberland are all 1/2 syn each
  • 4 celery sticks
  • 3 carrots
  • 2 onions, halved and sliced
  • 6 boneless, skinless chicken thighs (about 450g/1lb)
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 200g/7oz piece smoked lean gammon, trimmed and cut into 2cm/1in cubes
  • 2 x 400g/14oz cans chopped tomatoes
  • 150ml/5fl oz of red wine or water (I used water to keep it syn free!!)
  • 1 tbsp swetener
  • 1 tsp dried chilli flakes
  • 1 Bay Leaf
  • 4-5 bushy sprigs fresh thyme (I used dry as I had it in)
  • 400g/14oz can cannellini beans in water, drained andrinsed
  • 400g/14oz can butter beans in water, drained and rinsed
  • freshly ground black pepper

Preparation method

  • Spray a large non-stick frying pan with the fry light. Add the sausages to the pan and cook over a medium heat for 10 minutes, turning every now and then until nicely browned on all sides.
  • Meanwhile, trim the celery and peel the carrots and cut them intoslices about 1.5cm/½in thick.
  • Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4.
  • Add the onions to the frying pan and cook with the sausages for 6-8 minutes, stirring regularly until softened and lightly browned.
  • Trim the chicken thighs of any visible fat then cut the thighs in half.
  • Add the garlic and chicken pieces to the pan with the sausages and onions and cook for 3-4 minutes, turning the chicken twice until coloured all over.

  • Transfer everything to a large casserole dish.
  • Stir in the gammon, celery, carrots, tomatoes, red wine (or water) and 300ml/½ pint cold water, then sprinkle over the sweetener and chilli flakes. Stir in the bayleaf and thyme and season with ground black pepper.
  • Then cover with a lid and transfer to the oven. Cook for 55 minutes.
  • Take the casserole out of the oven and stir in all the beans. Cover with the lid again and put the dish back in the oven for another 30 minutes.
  • Once cooked remove the bay leaf.
  • Serve large portions of the cassoulet in deep plates or wide bowls

**** As I mentioned I make this in my slow cooker, I prepare everything in the same way except I put the beans in at the same time as the gammon, celery section etc so I can just leave it. If you cook this in a slow cooker only use half the liquid mentioned as it won't evaporate and make sure it's boiling too or it'll not heat or take extra long to cook, I'd also boil the water before putting it in the oven if this was being over cooked****

I'm having cassoulet on Saturday, a variation on the hairy bikers one. Thanks for the well done, was hoping for more.

Glad you worked it out Sammy :) I guess we just must remember we didnt carry it all in our arms. Turns out they can take 50lbs and I'be lost 54.5lbs so far... They have now booked another bag to take. I have said I want an I <3 new York t shirt for when I hit target.

You deserve it Fran a loss is a loss no matter how small or large!!

Sorry for taking up so much room everyone with my last post but it's yummy, syn free and if like me you're cooking for one or two it freezes really well and when portioned up you get more than you'd think. The last time I made it I got at least 8 portions but it's serves about 6 really really well. That recipe is a variation of the Hairy Bikers one, I got their book and it's really quite good and many meals can easily be modified :)

Well WI for me tonight, after the last 2 weeks off and eating whatever I wanted for the last 10 days I will be having a gain, I went against all my rules and weighed myself this morning and have gained about 4.5lbs but over 2 weeks that isn't too bad and I know where it has come from so I'm not upset about it plus I also started my TOTM today so that means part of the gain is water so I know I will have a loss next week and so will you Sammy :) I just hate that I always start on weigh day as that's always my heaviest day of the month :( Will update officially later on my gain but I won't be updating my stats as I want to pretend I am still in the 14's haha!!

Just noticed a typo in my recipe (obvs on purpose so I can feel part of your work stories from a few pages ago haha!! ;))

The bit at the end should say OVEN cooked not over cooked though I don't think you can really over cook if it's in longer as it's one of those beauties that you stick in one pot and leave it to do it's magic so once the prep pots are washed you only have this left to wash :)

Yeah the book is good. I have done the marsala chicken too. I must confess I served ours with mash (i love carbs) and split it between 6. (ish) I was too lazy/mean to buy gammon though so just chucked in bacon.

It is always ok if you know where the gain comes from I feel. And gains do soon come of as "it is still just fluid in the system, it takes two weeks to turn to fat" as my consultant says. Heard a worrying rumour that she has cancer this week. Hope it is untrue. She only celebrated her 40th wedding anniversary the other week. Fingers crossed it is just a silly rumour come from someone who knows nothing!

Hi ladies,

The recipe sounds lovely and it sounds like we're all having gains/STS this week! At least we can get back on track.

I'm just finished a college assessment and was going to tuck into a sausage roll but after one bite I feel sick (again!) so I might just have more tomato soup when I go home.

I hate feeling ill - and I'm off work all next week which means I really have to go in tomorrow, regardless of how crappy I'm feeling!

Star my fiance just saw your post for the syn free cassoulet and said "how can it be syn free if there are 6 sausages in it at half a syn each? That makes it 3 syns." I told him it's probably syn free without the sausages and that the sausages can just be added as an extra if wanted, but thought i'd point it out in case anyone has as many blonde moments as me and thinks it's free because I didn't notice that at all lol! xx
