A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step

oh no can't believe they are making you wait! so cruel, :fingerscrossed:

yeah that was yesterday and they have discharged her into the care of our gp! woo hoo!:D they are happy with her progress but said she may need more treatment if the solid food issue isn't resolved in 4 weeks! :( xxx

what issues is she having with solids?

Sounds really positive that they are happy with her progress, 4 weeks is a long time in babyville, she could come on leaps and bounds :)

She isn't taking solid food very well, i have managed to get her to take some pureed fruit now but thats taken 5 weeks:( she had feeding issues when she was born too but they think she might just have developed a phobia about eating and might take time to realise food won't hurt.... she was in a lot of pain when she was younger and in hospital so think we just have to be patient and she will come round to it eventually ... i hope xxxx

she is very young yet too. My daughter never had reflux or anything but she really wasn't much interested in food until she was 7 months and then it just built up gradually.

I'd not worry too much if she won't eat mushy food and give her some baby friendly finger foods, babies are legendary for putting almost anything they pick up straight in their mouths and you might find she weans better that way. It's quite a common way of weaning in some countries, it's only really us westerners who blitz everything into oblivion. I couldn't find my blender the other day and mushed up my sons food with a fork, it was still really lumpy but he didn't seem to mind, so I'm going to start to move him up to lumpier stuff and finger food.

yeah my cousin followed that method of weaning but think she switched back after a few gagging incidents lol. my oldest took to food straight away around 5 months and loved every mouthful, but the baby was just over 7 months when she accepted the fruit puree we are now at 8 months and they said they would worry at 9 months if she wasn't showing more interest by then:eek: she does like the odd organix carrot stick so thats a good sign will just have to hope she accepts food sooner rather than later! xxxxxxxxx

they all do the gagging thing, until they learn about how far to shove stuff in their mouths, my son was quite prone to choking on his mushy food, but seems better with the lumps - I can't make sense of that lol. Just make sure that whatever she has as finger foods isn't a big choke risk. I cut grapes up into small bits for example never give those whole even to an older child. Things like soft bread cut into fingers, chunks of boiled potato etc. My friends daughter was a battle everyday with sloppy food but is much better on finger stuff.
