A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step

they all do the gagging thing, until they learn about how far to shove stuff in their mouths, my son was quite prone to choking on his mushy food, but seems better with the lumps - I can't make sense of that lol. Just make sure that whatever she has as finger foods isn't a big choke risk. I cut grapes up into small bits for example never give those whole even to an older child. Things like soft bread cut into fingers, chunks of boiled potato etc. My friends daughter was a battle everyday with sloppy food but is much better on finger stuff.

well anything is worth a try! my oldest used to like to chew on bits of toast so could maybe try that too. xxxx

If she has developed a fear of food, it will help her get over it I think if she is picking bits up and exploring the textures and tastes herself, it will be on her terms.

thats true and she does like to watch her sister eat! so maybe if i give her something to hold she might copy her sister! xxx

yep, and eat together as a family when you can, we often have our smallest in his high chair now at meals, even if he isn't eating when we are :)

It's a good idea and myself and older daughter normally try to most nights, but hubby works 90+ hours a week and usually isn't home until we are all in bed :( so we are really looking forward to going on holiday and spending a week as a family! :)xxxxx

you just do what you can, when you can. My husband works different hours different days every week, so he ends up only eating with us once or twice a week, sometimes I'm busy with the baby and my daughter eats alone (she doesn't like that tho but needs must sometimes) I eat with her whenever I can and I'm sure it is enough.

It will be lovely for you all to have some quality time together :)
