Anja's Up & Down Diary

DD today: 701 cals, 11.6 fruit & veg. I must have been a fruit bat in a prior life!:cupid:
I also did the first warm up, exercise routine & warm down on the Ibiza workout dvd & am over 13,000 steps so again all good.

B: melon
L: salad, cheese, salad cream, grapes, cherries, mandarins in juice
D: cottage pie, strawberries & raspberries with low cal ice cream

Sounds like a good DD Anja, how are you feeling today?

Love

11.6 is an amazing level of f&v! Do you have an accurate way of calculating it, I never know what a "portion" is? My friend thinks the jam in a doughnut counts!

Hi

I use WLR & they classify 80g as a portion.

Does it count as Fruit and Veg?

The product must be more than 80% fruit and/or vegetable based. Pure fruit / veg juices and pure fruit smoothies (not dairy based ones) will count. Many soups and sauces do not. Potatoes also do not count.

(If I'm inputting a new product & in the ingredients it has a % next to a fruit or veg then I input that & WLR calculates what proportion of a fruit & veg portion the meal/ingredient is.)

Yesterday: melon 207g, mandarins in fruit juice 113g, lettuce 52.3g, cucumber 41.8g, tomatoes 67g, grapes 99g, cherries 112g, strawberries 45g, raspberries 135g = 872.1g = 10.9 f & v + 300g quorn cottage pie with peas, carrots, mushroom protein apparently counts for the other 0.7 according to WLR.

I think maybe nearly 900g of fruit & veg in one day is not that good for me as I must be failing to use quite a lot of that sugar!

Hi Barb - feeling quite crap today despite the sun shining & it being an up day. I didn't lose any weight this morning and for 24 hours now no go again.:sigh: Why oh why does my body want to hold onto this lard!? & HOW? based on yesterday's fruit & veg.
Have amended my menu today on the basis of this morning's weigh in to be about 1600/1700 cals instead of 2000 odd.

Ok, stomach better - check, attitude better - slightly, check, am I going to do this now? check!

:party0019::party0019:

I'm going to have less of this:
:hitthefan::badmood::sick0019:

and more of this:

:character00180::party0023::innocent0002: :party0038:

and definitely NONE of this:

UD today. Slightly higher than I'd like at 1,827 cals, only 4.4 f & v today.

B: toast, butter, jam, activia yoghurt
L: veg lasagne, cheese & onion crisps, strawberry fruit corner yoghurt, cherries & grapes
D: spaghetti bolognese, strawberries & spray cream
Snacks: 2 choc digestives & a fondant fancy cake. If only I'd kept my thoughts off the biscuits!

Oh well, still less than maintenance cals, was only 700 or so yesterday & stomach okay again so I SHOULD have lost tomorrow. (Ooh - that's only 2,500 cals over 2 days! Hadn't thought about it like that before - Woohoo!). Big difference in steps though - yesterday was 14,194 + Ibiza workout, today is only 6,533.

You can't win 'em all!

Grrr! I'm having this :sick0019: problem again so still 11,7 this morning. DD today & aqua tonight so maybe I'll be down tomorrow!

I'm sure you will be. I am feeling much more positive today, as I mentioned I am upping my DD cals and I feel much chirpier as a result. Think 500 is just too low for long term, as Dr J himself points out! Sure you will see 11.6 tomorrow and hopefully I will dip to my lowest yet since starting Juddding, so fingers crossed all round!

Love

Aargh! I have no willpower/self control. My DD cals appear to have reached up to 1,162 with a little PMT choc binge before aqua, however apparently aqua burns 373 cals per hour so maybe I'm only on about 800 really. :banghead:

DD!: 1,162 cals, 12.3 f & v

B: melon
L: tomato & vegetable soup, grapes, cherries & apricots
before aqua: fondant fancy cake
D: 2 tortilla wraps with mushrooms & onions in spray oil
Supper: strawberries + spray cream
Oops: 1 choc digestive, 2 pieces Dairy Milk, 1 Fry's Turkish Delight.

I know it could have been much worse, but all the same slapped wrists & I'll see how it is in the morning. I know I'm having Indian tomorrow and I kept telling myself that to stave off the binge urges but it was no good! (I have noticed that I'm MUCH worse at eating crap the week before my period - does anyone else have this problem?)

:break_diet:

(Actually pre-JUDDDing I would never have considered that a binge, a mid-morning snack maybe, a binge was MUCH worse than that! I guess my mind has changed a bit!)

One good thing - 1 hr aqua class & 12,542 steps so not bad on the exercise front. Also finished as much as I can do of my 5th Maths assignment & am about 60% through the 7th one (it's a revision one so I've been gradually doing it as I do the others!) A few less things to worry about!

(That's 2 aqua classes & 45,595 steps in 4 days - Go me!):eek::)

Gosh it's quiet on here now!

Well, down to 11,6 this morning so no harm done. Having Indian tonight which will temporarily put my weight up & then bring it down. Only vegetable dishes of course but the bread & rice up the cals.

Was a bit gutted by the scales this morning - it did that thing where it showed 11,4 then 11,5 then settled at 11,6. I was so excited then had to calm down a little bit. (Definitely 11,6 - changed the batteries & got off and on several times - always the same result, so have definitely lost at least 1lb this week so long as I don't overdo the takeaway tonight!)

11.6 then - brilliant, thats what you were hoping for. I am hoping to see an overall loss of at least 9 pounds on Monday, that would be a lb on the week as I gained .5 last week! Really want to see those scales move, does feel incredibly slow at the moment, even 9lbs in 7 weeks is good but any less than that would be hard to bear. Still, I can;t think of an alternative I can live with so, here goes!
Have a lovely curry tonight, I really like Indian food, well I like most spicy food in general actually, thai probably being my top fave!

love

Thank you hon!

Just realised that Clairejen's on holiday for 2 weeks so it's just you & me for a while!

I LOVE Indian best (& Italian is another fave!). I'm a korma fan - I just love the flavour. Thai tends to be too spicy for me.

Still aiming for 11,4 - depends rather on what effect the Indian has :eek:. If I gain loads so be it, if it has its usual effect it'll go through me & I won't gain a lb. We'll see!

Well, 11,7 this morning which I'm quite pleased with as I must have eaten probably 3,500 cals yesterday. I was on over 1,000 before I touched the Indian & then some chocolate later on...

BUT I think the onion & mushroom wraps that I had for dinner the night before are having a very bad effect on me so the weight is nowhere near as high as I thought it might be! I actually think I'm only half a lb up as the scales showed 11,6 then flicked up to 11,7 (they round up, the bu**ers!)

Today is hair part 2, Asda & then watching the concert on tv. I've decided to do 6am - 6pm as DD i.e. aim to eat nothing at all by keeping busy & then 6pm tonight to 6pm tomorrow as an UD/ID and then 6pm tomorrow to 6am Monday as a DD so a 24 hour full day period of each just not necessarily in the expected order.

Will see how it goes... off to get my hair done again now...

Looking forward to seeing the hair colour! Feeling a bit despondant again, I am back up and reckon even with a good UD today and a good DD tomorrow I am probably going to stay the same. Going to have to do serious cal counting on UD's, which for me rather defeats the purpose of feeling free and being able to go out for meals etc. After all, food un counted accurately could be almost anything and approximations are only that. We'll see, sorry to be a misery on your thread Anja, have a good day,

Love

Don't feel despondent honey!

I definitely feel that we have to count both days I'm afraid. Wasn't the meal last night worth being a little bit up this morning? If it wasn't then maybe it's not worth going out to dinner but if it was (which I'm sure it was) then it's a little price that we pay for being happy, active, normal & social.

I tend to weigh all my food etc. when I'm making my packed lunch but I don't aim for a particular calorie count, I weigh until it looks like as much as I want & if that means that I'm on 400 cals or 600 cals or 800 cals so be it!

You're still more than half a stone down, if you're getting disheartened tweak it like you said or do the same as me with approx 500 DDs & approx 1500 UDs (Ha! - hasn't been that lately!) and be aware that if you go over it's not the end of the world there's always tomorrow. The diet will still be there. Which would you rather have the most; a thin waist or a life?

If you're finding it too hard then go back to the counting you were doing before, you're still down. (But stay on here too 'cos I still need you to keep me cheery!)

I'm in a mixed mood today - so far food & drink wise I've only had half a little bottle of Fanta Lemon which is good considering it's nearly 3. Also my hair looks good; not as blonde as I was expecting but she's factored in my holiday & said it will bleach much brighter in the sun & I don't want to start too bright otherwise I'll look ridiculous by the end of the 2 weeks. She also cut it at the back shorter than I wanted which means I can't put it in a ponytail anymore which is a little frustrating.

I got a parking ticket through the post today too... Turns out when I picked up Mum & Dad from the airport & she needed the loo I re-entered a no return area looking for a loo. She'd been air-ambulanced off the plane & buggied through the terminal & when they got off the loos all had long queues. I drove around looking for one & stopped at a garage (out of order) & a supermarket express (no loo!) and then finally headed back to McDonalds 'cos I'd been there earlier & knew where it was. My mum is disabled so I had to set her down right outside & now I have a £50 ticket. Do you think if I explain they might cancel it? I can only try. It was my first time at Heathrow so I didn't know the area & I couldn't just drop her miles from the door.

Grrr! Pic coming.

Pics as promised including one midway where it had faded to ginger. (Please ignore the pyjamas!) Still blonder than the pics show but it just shines - you can't see the actual colours too well in the pictures. It's now several tones of blonde with no ginger.

Love it Anja, that is a gorgeous colour! Your hairdresser is right to not let it be too light; a few years ago we went to the caribbean and I had my (already fair)hair highlighted. I came back from hols WHITE! I was not a happy bunny, my hair was like straw, very attractive.

Re your parking ticket, it is definately worth explaining the circs, there is a good chance they will be sympathetic as it was a genuine case and not just someone trying it on.

Re my despondancy, actually i feel a bit better now, my chatterbox seems to keep swapping sides! After i had posted earlier I wandered into the kitchen and this thought just jumped into my head ' well, I am still at least half a stone down, that can't be bad!', so you are right, I should be pleased and not an old misery.
My maintenance cals required are 2336, my 30% figure is 701 and 35% is 818. So as of tomorrow I am going to do 700-800 on a DD and on Monday(UD) stick to 1800, Wed(UD) stick to 2200, and Friday and Saturday(both UDs) aim at 4500 for the 2 days. That gives me 10650-10850 for the week, which is a cal deficit of 5502-5702. That should give me a drop of about 1.6lbs a week! How scientific is that!

God! that's scientific! and stickable-to!

Have just packed my case - packed a week early - how sad am I? I just can't wait! (Although Mum says I need to bring a clear shower cap as all the blondes wear them in the pool as the chemicals make their hair bleach! Well that's attractive! NOT a swimming cap but a shower mob cap!)

Glad you approve Anja, I think it is do-able to. Especially the shared cals on Fri/Sat as we often go out one or the other, although this weekend it looks like both! In answer to your earlier question re waist and life; life wins every time, I am too much of a social animal to become a stay at home dieting bore! (not that I don't admire and secretly envy those that do and get to their goals!)
I want this plan to work on every level and I am going to keep tweaking it till it does. I think the plan I now have figured should do it, I am more than happy to expect a loss of 1-1.5lbs every week and so long as that happens I will be delighted!

Hi Anja (& Barb),

Really impressed with you judding looks like you have both cracked it even your blips dont sound bad to me (the queen of blip) . Anja hair looks great again i would love to go lighter but didnt like the idea as my hair is dark brown so i feel inspired !
