Consolidation Anjuschka's journey through Conso (closed)

Anja - Your menus always sound so lovely. I do wish I had you to cook for me! ;-)

Tee hee thank you very much. Yes I try to make an effort in the evening, esp when including the family in my plans, but the rest of the day is usually controlled by what's in the fridge / needs eating up etc etc...

Ok,

I think I'd better wish you all a happy and enjoyable Christmas, whatever you do and wherever you are / end up.

I suspect I'll be off the computer for a while myself now, planning to carry on Conso as normal with Gala meals as 'required' and probably sticking with PV the rest of the time to make up for 'extras'. Our family from Scotland might nor might not come, they were due to come today but are definitely not travelling until the conditions improve (they have here, but not in the Midlands I think).

Had a nice (Gala) lunch with a friend yesterday: Quiche with salad: carrot & almond, Beans, Mixed peppers with vinaigrette. For dessert I 'just' had a couple of spoonfuls of her chocolate fudge cake which was lovely but I could never have eaten a whole slice! In the evening it was back to extra-lean beefburgers with grilled peppers and quark... and yoghurt for dessert.

Take care everyone, especially if you still have some travelling to do!

have a lovely christmasxxx

Thanks everyone, well I'm sort of back and takign the opportunity to pop back in, our snow-deferred visitors will be coming on Friday so I'll be out of contact again. I've tried to keep a track of what I've been up to in the last week, I'll post it up in small chunks I think!

23+24.12

A last effort before the weekend:

23.12 PP trying to be extra-good:

B: pancake with cottage cheese
S: oatbran muffins
L: tuna ‘mayonnaise’ (made with quark), and pickled herring (with a little bit of picked onion).
S: oatbran muffins
D: slow-cooked beef wit mustard sauce, a bit of the tuna before from lunch, yoghurt

Made a chocolate birthday cake without licking the spoon or my fingers…

24.12: WI day – last week paid off:

STS @ 61.9kg – a good base for the coming few days!

It was DH birthday, and in view of the weigh-in my resolve slipped, add some treats and wine:

PV+carbs

B: D porridge, stewed apple & quark
S: piece of birthday cake
L: winter soup with lentils (=extra carbs) sprinkled with cheese. Slice of bread, tomatoes.
S: Baked custard, home made lebkuchen
D: Dukan friendly venison& carrot & swede stew with quark, glass of red wine.
S: 2 chocolates after all chores done, food prepped and presents put under the tree! I get to munch most of Rudolph’s carrot too!

Exercise: hoovered and cleaned the whole house, prepared all the veg and goose for tomorrow.

Christmas and Boxing Day

25.12: Christmas day. It’s a Gala day (not jsut a Gala meal), there’s nothing I can do about it. A proper dukan-breakfast of oatbran porridge with quark and apple at 6.30 am as usual. But then mid-morning another coffee with Christmas biscuits and chocolates, a Christmas lunch of Roast Goose, red cabbage, steamed sprouts, a few roast potatoes, some carrots and parsnips roasted with the Goose. 1 ½ glasses white wine. No dessert as such, but more Christmas biscuits and chocolate for afternoon tea. In the evening we just snacked on crackers with cheese and paté.

Exercise: nice brisk 1+ hr walk with DD2 in the buggy. I am glad to have anti-slip things (crampons is a bit too grand a word for these!) for my boots otherwise this would not have been possible on iced-over pavements!

26.12 Boxing Day

So I could not resist and stepped on the scales: 62.8 kg which was better than I’d feared. I was extra good on the food front – back to 100% conso PV(with 2 fruit) and no extras.

B: Pancake with cottage cheese and fresh pear
S: Oatbran muffins
L: A slice of homemade soda bread (DD2 made it, with help from me) with Philly EL, Roast beef and Red cabbage. Yoghurt
S: Oatbran muffins
D: Leftover venison stew, Brussels sprouts. A small slice of goose and a couple of roast carrots from yesterday (all probably not exactly fat-free hence no cheese in my allowance today). A large Clementine. Later – some homemade ‘fudge’

2 Bank Holidays

27.12 PV+Carbs
A 'normal' day - though as I was so strict yesterday I lull myself into the belief that I am allowed to relax a little today:

B: Oatbran porridge with quark and raisins.
S: 1 piece home made lebkuchen
L: Smoked Salmon and mustard/dill sauce. 1 slice of rye bread, 2 extra slices of wholemeal soda bread (carb portion).
S: Satsuma
D: chicken stir-fry with mushrooms, peppers and broccoli, baked custard

Exercise: not much, lots of running round the garden playing hide and seek

28.12 PV day with Gala meal/dish (ie Dessert):

B: pancake with quark and apple
S: (post-swimming) Oatbran muffins
L: left-over chicken stir-fry from yesterday, slice of Rye bread, yoghurt
S: Oatbran muffins
D: Baked chicken with winter veg, Apple Crumble with cream… Crumble made with those biscuits I had accidentally reduced to crumbs a few weeks ago! Highly recommended!!

Exercise: a trip to the swimming pool, DD2 is happy to play with DD1 and DH for a while which allows me to manage to do 12 lengths proper swimming.

I also go back on the flume with DD1 for the first time post-weight loss and it's a revelation, speed is somewhat reduced and the whole experience is a lot more enjoyable :D and less scary...

I can't leave the scales alone, and of course they have crept up by a kilo

Today normal PV Conso day, and I manage to nearly stick to it, only diversion created by more baking efforts by my youngest who was given a cookery book (by me) and who needs to try it out now (with me).
In any case, if anyone has a 3-year old keen on joining you in the kitchen, I can recommend 'I can cook' - based on the the CBeebies series of the same name.

Exercise: a 2hr walk with the kids

B; chicken, egg, spinach (leftover from pre-preparing dinner for tonight), yoghurt
S: Oatbran muffins with apricots
L: tortilla wrap with roast beef, cottage cheese and peppers, yoghurt
S: one home-made biscuit, still warm (see above)
D: Spinach and cottage cheese cannelloni inc full-fat cheese portion. Satsuma
S: Oatbran muffin with apricots

Now I 'just' need to knuckle down for PP tomorrow, and then I have a few days off-track when the in-laws visit (arriving Friday PM). For that week I have planned two gala meals and the rest as PV, but I am expecting extras every day which may well turn every day into a PV+ Carbs day.

On the other hand, I have really been quite good. No more chocolate has passed my lips since Christmas day.

You're doing amazingly Anja :) and I love how inventive you are with the cooking :)....fudge sounds delicious !

Hope you have a great start to 2011 xxx

Thanks, somehow it never fells like that at the time (inventive) and is mostly a question of 'what's in the fridge'

Well for todays PP it was:

B: Oatbran porridge with cinnamon quark
S: cup of tea
L: (getting hungry from about 11 but managed to hold out!) a slice of slow-cooked roast beef shredded and heated with the (de-fatted) stock/soup that came out of it during cooking, flavoured with mustard. Poached egg, cottage cheese. Yoghurt (argh it was a fruit one, stupid me!)
S: Toffee yoghurt (everyone else was munching chocolate biscuits), cup of tea.
D: Thai-spiced prawns and omelette. Cinnamon Yoghurt.

I'm drinking a cup of fruit tea now, if I need a pick-me-up I have a SF jelly in the fridge. Fingers crossed for WI tomorrow!

After this I may well be out of contact for another few days, a few days better not to be reported to closely either! Planned two Gala meals and the rest PVs (with smaller than usual amounts of carbs on the Carb days as they will probably be made up by restrained intakes of biscuits or cakes during tea times). In outline main meals look like this:

Fri PV: Poultry Sausages (everyone else is having proper 'bratwurst' and left-over roast Goose), red cabbage, cauliflower. Maybe a glass of Cava later.

Sat Gala: Chicken Pie, mash, roasted winter veg. Glas of white wine. Dessert tbc. Maybe just coffee & chocolates

Sun: PV+Carb: Grilled turkey steaks and fresh tomato sauce (+WM pasta)(everyone else is having fresh ravioli & tom sauce)

Mon: Gala: Raclette :eating: (Potatoes, melted cheese, pickles, veg, smoked ham...) Glass of wine, no need for dessert!!! This is a tricky one as far as 'portion control' goes as you have little bites with breaks in between, over a long time. Suppose I could load up my plate first with a proper portion of all the elements and then stick with it!

Tue: PV+Carb: Beef and Pepper stew (+WM pasta)

END OF HOLIDAYS - BACK TO WORK on WEDS.... and also back to more exercise. I miss the cycling.

Wed: PV: Mediterranean Fish Soup (dukanised version of Chunky Mediterranean fish soup recipe - Recipes - BBC Good Food, using haddock though)

Thu PP: SLow cooked beef Roast.

Well see how it all pans out!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!:new_year:

I had a raclette a couple of weeks ago, Anja, and very nice it was too!

Enjoy!

On Day 1 of attack, and I admit to having read your menus vertically to avoid upsetting my apple cart... BUT, although I put off reading your diary for a while (fearing that my bubble might burst if I read that you'd regained loads...), I'm SOOO happy to read that it is possible not to regain stupid amounts of weight after a large weight loss!

DELIGHTED!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Thank you very much everyone!

Just checking in quickly, last day off today ans we'll go on a trip out in a moment. I had a nice weekend with the family, fairly off-plan whilst trying to stay sensible about it (err...)

WI last Friday was okay, pound up on the Friday before, but that was an extra low. So starting the weekend at 62.4. I have not succumbed to the scales this time and will now manage to hold out till Friday I'm sure.

My food worked out as planned, neither Gala meal was too OTT, even the Raclette all in all consisted probably of 5 small new potatoes, 5 thin slices of cheese, and for meats and other accompaniments I managed to stick to low fat ham, bresaola and mushrooms and tomatoes. Dessert was a small slice of strawberry cheesecake. No drink then but a glass the day before.

The evening meal was back to Dukan coleslaw, cottage cheese and cooked turkey, only cracked and had one small cracker with pate as the table was laden with non-dukan stuff.

So yes, the last three days were not over the top and the meals were mostly dukan friendly but I did have sociable afternoon tea with Christmas cake (stollen), a glass of bubbly and a few savoury nibbles on New Years day, and some peanuts and chocolate here and there too. DDs carried on with their baking frenzy so yesterday I had a muffin with dried fruit in it too.

Not vast amounts of exercise and the weather was miserable too but 2hr walk with the kids on Sunday and 1.5 hr brisk walk alone yesterday. I've also started only going to the toilet that's on the top floor so that's 2 flights of stairs every time...

All will be revealed on Friday no doubt.

I like Laura's thoughts on Stab and will probably be going a similar way, but decided that I'd stick with conso till the end of the month just to get back to a better routine after the holidays. Now I have time to collect some ideas and pointer and then I can draw up my plan (of never going back to 'normal' as I knew it...)

(of never going back to 'normal' as I knew it...)
Love it...

Thanks for checking in Anja, and enjoy your day. You're such an inspiration and it's good for those of us who consider the first lapse a door opener to a major free for all to see how you can rein back in continually.

What Jo said.

You are often pretty restrained on gala meals but from menus you seem to eat a fair amount on a normal day. Something for me to learn from as I'm very feast/famine.

All the best for continued stability.
