Hi everyone, I know this thread is old but I'm hoping to resurrect it... I love sewing, went to classes but got bored of making bags so stopped. My friend is teaching me how to make dance costumes from scratch at the minute - I have made my daughters charactor costume for dance comp this week... I'll attach pics when she wears it Thursday anyway I also cross stitch, make friendship braids / bracelets, love tie dying & acid bleaching - that's all I can think of at the minute... Oh I also just bought a knitting loom to try out
Look forward to seeing / hearing about other peoples creations X
Ooh good to see this thread active again! I've got a couple of projects on the go currently. First is I'm making 50m of bunting for my future brother and sister in laws wedding, using 15 different fabrics as it's all multicoloured and different pattern so lots to do but it should look good when done! Second is a biggie for me- I'm making my 3 bridesmaids dresses! I've got a year so if they go wrong we can come up with a plan b! They will be knee length infinity dresses so it's a fairly simple pattern just need to make sure they are perfect! This was my trial run and the one I showed them asking if they wanted similar before telling them I made it! They will be in royal blue
Like the idea of the loom ... do let us know how you get on with it..that is when you do of course! That's some undertaking Scarlett.. 50m bunting but what a brill idea... and WTG making the dresses too. Look forward to seeing the finished article. I am about to start on making a nightdress for myself. It's the one thing that I really hate paying a lot of money for and as I have a very nice sewing machine and not a lot else to do with myself I thought I would do it myself. I started knitting a cable vest some time ago but then developed polymyalgia in my arms so I still have it to finish. I love doing cable stitch and have knitted quite a few cable jumpers for my family in the past.
Oooh I would love to try a knitting loom! I haven't used one since school and that was only briefly. I haven't taken any sewing classes but I bought a sewing machine last year with a view to making my own clothes and making adjustments to the clothes I have. I have mostly been making bibs for my daughter and this week I made her a couple of circle skirts to play dress up with. She loves dancing and twirling them around.
I sew occasionally. I'm Asian, so for occasions I dress traditional, and sew up an outfit or two. More so in the summer for weddings etc. Have an industrial sewing machine at home. I actually learnt how to sew at 16, when I did textiles for GCSEs and then A-Levels.
Thanks Hun, it's is all the same dress believe it or not! That's why I loved them for the bridesmaids, they will each wear it the way they feel most comfortable as they are all very different figures, heights etc. hope they will turn out well! I'll keep you informed on here! XxOMG Scarlett you are so talented!!! The dresses are amazing x
How are you getting on with the nightdress? Were you inspired by The Great British Sewing Bee?Like the idea of the loom ... do let us know how you get on with it..that is when you do of course!
