Before and during - so far so good.

I think it's good to look back on old photos and see where you were before. People used to come up to me in work (or friends) and say i had lost weight, but i couldn't see it.. I guess it's down to seeing the same face everyday in the mirror and not seeing a change.

Besides my clothes becoming looser i wasn't aware of anything changing, so i would feel that nothing was happening and at times i thought about just giving up and grabbing for the nearest junk food just to make myself feel 'happy' but i realised that when i was eating that crap food i would only be happy for a while. So i started looking at the pics of where i was and am now and i can see it, i have a chin and i'm starting to grow a jaw line.. i can buy clothes from any supermarket (some high street shops are still a work in progress) and i don't have to order them off the net and pray that they fit or go to a specialist store and pay three times the price for the larger stuff.

I think thats the true inspiration in weight loss, what 'you' have done. how 'you' achieved it. Not seeing someone else do it.. why climb a mountain when someone else has already done it, because you can.. because you want to, you need to. Go and climb your own mountain, it'll be hard and you might slip down now and again, but never give up. One step at a time, you'll get there one day.

Each of us on this site know the struggles; physical, mental or emotional.. you might not get to a goal in a month or a even a years time but you will get there with the support of your family, sw group or the people on this site. Never set yourself a final goal, just pick your next one, and then your next.

It doesn't matter how much you have lost, just that you have lost something and keep going in that direction. you might not see a change but you will notice a difference, mine was not feeling tired all the time, i can now run upstairs and not feel like i'm having a heart or asthma attack. i can run around after my cousins kids and play football with them.

For the first time in my adult life, i am actually happy and not just putting on a show. Thats the secret to weight loss in my opinion.. honesty, be honest with yourself.

Find a motto or a saying and repeat it to yourself. mines ''Change your thoughts and you change your world.''

You can do it ladies and gents

Don't stop inspiring yourself

Wow!!! What a thread!! I've been a bit complacent the last couple of weeks and gained a couple of pounds and have been feeling annoyed at myself! This has made me think actually how well I've done, give myself a kick up the bum and get back on it!

I agree, we can be our own inspirations, but with a thread like that, you can be ours too :) x

anytime you want a kick up the bum i'm sure someone on here will gladly give you it.. we all put on at times, iput on some after xmas and have just managed to shift it now.. and now i feel like i'm not moving any at all, but i'm putting that down to winter, bad weather not getting the gym as often as i normally do. but thats not stopping me, just going to get back on it when the time is right :D x

i'll have a fall, but i'll get back up i've done so well and not going to give up now. No matter what happens i'm just going to plod on, took me 15 years of my life to get fat, so it can take me another 15 to get healthier.. if thats what it takes, thats what it takes.. no giving up, one step at a time

:D x

Heres another pic.. the shirt was last worn in june '11 and the pants from nov '10..

i'm keeping them, next time i try them on will probably be june/july.. and i will try them on every 6 months or so.
Does anyone else keep old clothes for motivation, or is it just me lol.

if i can do it anyone can ;)

The first pic was taken in Nov '10 and the second April '12
So far i have lost 7 Stone 10Lbs ( 108 Lbs or 49 Kg) it's taken me 16 months and i gained some over xmas etc.. but slow and steady wins the race.
It took me years to get fat, so it can take me years to get fit.

Yes; the hair is lighter and gray in parts, and i'm now in need of a new pair of glasses (and a new wardrobe lol), I have one or two less chins and you can see my ears (i can hear a little bit better now i don't have fat cheeks in the way lol).

I've gone from 4XL / 5XL (depending on style/shop) to XL Tshirts and my jeans have gone from 52" (tight) to a 38" (tight). even gone down a shoe size lol

S.W works, you just have to trust it and never give up.. just keep going, day after day, you'll get there one day. i know i will :D x

Congrats on your weight loss!
I have been on SW almost 1 year (28 April 2011) and have lost over 6 stone and going for my 3rd Target of 6.5stone! Almost there, hope to do it before the anniversary.........

The first pic i posted on this thread was a collection of pics showing what i had lost in my first year of weight loss.. today i was bored and decided to update it.. so here it is 16 months of weight loss and the equivalence.
