Top O The Mornin Everyone

:character00238: Good Morning Everyone :character00238:

Well I made it back and was SO brave this morning - I hopped on the scales - amazingly only 3lbs on. I thought my body would be housing enough squatter pounds to resemble Glastonbury after the festival! Major eviction tactics next week ready for Friday's weigh in as off to Cornwall the week after for more music and not quite so much guinness as in Ireland (it really is yummy over there).

Well just to let you know how bad I have been - Clonakilty is not quite at the end of the bus route from Cork (about 30 miles) but is a small town where everything happens after 9pm - musicians appear from everywhere and the whole scene takes off - every night in almost every bar.

What we didn't realise about Clonakilty is that the only place you can really get to without transport is Cork! There are no tours leaving locally and if you bus it into cork you have to leave early in the morning to get a tour and by the time you get back you have an hour and a half wait at the bus station for the 10.45pm bus - not good for 2 women on their own. But Girls on Tour are not to be shaken - we embraced the facilities Clon had to offer. We walked until we knew every nook and cranny (even a 3 mile walk to the beach one day). We took a large suitcase and a rucksack to the supermarket on day 1 and filled it with good healthy food (and one or two naughty bits, including an Irish Tea bread loaf which tasted like heaven) enough for the whole week. We wheeled the suitcase along the road until we got to the apartment block. Ours was 5 flights up (48 steps - I counted) so we relayed the shopping from the case in the rucksacks (that's a lot of stairs!).

We cooked fresh every night except one when we went to a fabulous restaurant called Richys (apparently where Michael Flatley goes) as we had been given a gift voucher. We also had ice cream every day and guinness every night but I guess that's where the 3 pounds come in.

Generally I feel very well and a lot fitter than when I went (probably 48 stairs - step aerobics perhaps?) but completely knackered.

The flying side of things was amazing (remember - I had never flown before) and fantastic when it banked and you could see all the scenery spread out below. My guitar was looked after well and survived the journey. They didn't charge excess baggage on the guitar as expected or on my over packed case which was more than 2 kg over on the way back.

I am still buzzing from the music scene there. Our favourite venue was a place called 'An Teach Beag' (pronounced 'choc be-og' which means 'little house') I guess anything with choc in the name has to be good!

My OH picked us up at the airport at 6pm last evening and after a much needed cup of coffee he took me out for dinner so the evictions start here and now :character00238: x

Yay welcome back Gem. That's great that you only have 3 squatters! Sounds like you had a really great time over there.

It has been so quiet here but now everyone is starting to come back it should start picking up again.

I got a message from my sister on Facebook this morning, which was really nice. I found her on there through her email adress and she didn't know that she still had a FB account! We don't get to talk very often so it's great that there is another medium we can use

Hi Taz. Good to be back - I think? The sun is shining anyway and I looked at the forcast for Clonakilty this morning and it was raining - again!!! Anyway, a week to kick out the squatters and off to (sunny?) Cornwall again.
Good that you have another way to talk to your sister. It really is a special thing to have a sister. I was an only child, no sisters or brothers, but luckily I have a friend who is as mad as I am (hence Girls on Tour week last week). Things go right or wrong and we see the funny side of it and collapse in giggles just like a pair of schoolgirls.

We were on the bus from Cork to Clonakilty with just a moby number to ring for our key and couldn't get through to the bloke on the other end. We were cracking up and making jokes about shop doorways and cardboard boxes and sleeping under a guinness pump when a young lad of about 17 years old dialled the number and lent us his mobile. I guess he felt sorry for the 2 mad women from England but that's just the way we are. x

Yeah it is great to have another way of communication. We have spent a lot of time with zero communication (long story) and even now it's not easy.

Sounds like you had a really mad time over there

hi guys. i'm glad you had a fab time gem :) i'm still in newcastle and have been watching torchwood like there's no tomorrow. it's my current addiction. looks like we are going out tonight so there may be a bit of gin in my future. but not much. i've been teetotal for too long, ha. not sure about the dancing though. my back is complaining from sleeping on the sofa for three nights running...

i will be home again on monday with my keyboard at the ready to check in properly :) and i've been very good so far :D

abz xx

Yea, it was great. Glad you and your sister are communicating again Taz x
Abz - Hiya - Gin huh? That should make you dance - sofa or no sofa x

Er... Abz, before you get on the Gin have you been eating? You know you aren't supposed to touch alcohol on a VLCD?!

Good point Taz - Abz you could be Brahms and Liszt before your feet trip onto the dance floor if you aren't eating x

Hmmm I think there are more 'health' implications than just getting out of your tree. It can be really dangerous to drink if your body is not physically able to cope with it. It could put serious pressure on your organs

Wohoo, finally got all the peices to my new pc selected, and costing me a grand total of £404!! Wohoo! Roll on friday when i can order them all, and then monday, i can build it!!! Was expecting it to be more, was wishing it would be less, but happy with what it is!! lol

Good luck with the computer buildage Tyn! Hope you have fun with it!!!
