Big Boys Need Love Too!

Her mother had a perfectly good bathroom, no really.

WOW

My mate just sent me this cool link to a vid, it's awesome. I'd love to do this.

.....and hopefully live to tell the tale. Very similar to base jumping but with skis - looks very dangerous to me but quite a thrill factor

I just had a call from British Gas offering to come round and give us a free quote for a new boiler. Ours is a bit funny on the hot water so hopefully it will be affordable!

hi all :) just on to say hi and tell you how bad ive been today...:s my cousin split up with her boyfriend while they were on a break in edinburgh so they came back early and i went to get her from the airport. she is obviously very upset so i treated her (and me and my family) to chinese and then she laid out an array of chocolate on the table and we watched michael macintyre and i ate way too much!! oh dear. we're going for a walk tomorrow.. although it wont help too much methinks :S. ive put around half an inch on round my waist, even though my weight doesn't appear to have gone up too much, around 3-4lbs depending on the day I weigh.

sorry ive not been on. been looking after my grandad today, had a bit of a scare cos he couldnt breathe yesterday. he ruined his lungs years ago on an 40 a day (!!!) habit and now unfortunately he's paying the price. he was better today but i didnt sleep at all last night. kept my fone on and told my nan to ring me if anything happened and id jump in the car.

boss told me i could take tomorrow off as i havent gotten over my cold yet..totm isn't helping. and im shattered. so tomorrow im going to concentrate on getting better and sleeping and then going for a walk :D

gooooooooooooooood...i must get back on track soon, i feel fat :(

jim. i can't watch much of that as i'm at work but what i've seen looks amazing... and totally crazy. i would love to do something like this but my brain would keep on telling me what a stupid idea it would be to jump off a perfectly good cliff or out of a perfectly good plane...

i feel like absolute sh*te today. i think the diet is catching up with me. today is day three and it is not going to be a good day. i'm also living in abject panic about my wedding dress. if it takes six months to order there is no way i will get the one i want in time. so i'm going to have to go and try on as soon as poss. the only place i've found with one in stock is charging £150 over the rrp though. so i'm a bit astounded at that really and have told them so. will see what they say.

aargh.

it's keeping me on track though, ha.

Morning all,

Looks like we are all having boiler problems then. It was an absolute pain when ours went, we had to wait nearly 3 weeks until it was replaced.

Ellie I hope your granddad is OK, I must stop smoking.

Abz, those flying suits look really fun. I did a lot of parachuting in the army, but all bog standard stuff, nothing like that. WOW.

i don't think any parachuting is bog standard jim. how do you go from parachuting to IT? less adrenaline in IT...

well our boiler is just on. but it was so warm when we got up this morning that i've turned the thermostat down and we are just hoping that it will click back on as the house cools down a bit. it may not. but if we have no heat and hot water and call them on a friday they do make emergency weekend calls. so if tonight is dire i can ring them tomorrow and they'll be able to come when we're off work which is something at least...

I come from an Army family abz, I did computer science at Uni and initially only joined the Army for 3 years. I joined Para Regt mainly 'cos my Dad thought I was a wimp, you know long haired hippie (it was the '60's :) ) It was whilst I was serving with the para's that I found out the Army had a career for computer people, so I did my 3 and then transferred to the RAOC as a programmer/analyst. I had a great life, soldiering when required, and working with computers for my day job so to speak.

ah, happy memories abz, ;)

Not much love, still neck deep in annual reports and stuff. I have SQL coming out of my ears at the moment. :)

Hi everyone

There's nothing wrong with being an old hippy - I know that feeling well.

My Dad was a 40 a day man and was very lucky to live to 85 with most of those years being fit. He also worked as a miner and scraping out the chimneys in a chemical works so he was a bit of miracle really.

Before you say "Well smoking's ok then" I'll tell you about several of my friends who lost their health very young and who died FAR too young. I lost a friend and colleague with an amazing zest for life around 5 years ago. Apart from the smoking she was super fit - a dancer. She was around my age and had all to live for. I know it's hard to give up - my dad did it in his 60s though by sucking oranges instead of smoking and never looked back. If you think you can do it Jim, go for it :)

One more nasty little squatter out in the cold today - that's 3 down, 6 to go. Let's see if I can kick out one more by tomorrow's weigh in.

I've decided that I will donate £10 to www.shelterbox.org for my extra pounds tomorrow and again if they're not all gone next Friday (my penalty charge). The work they do is absolutely amazing. The money helps them to be there on the ground whenever and wherever disasters happen in the world with down to earth practical aid. The charity thing is good as it turns even a weight gain into something positive :D

We have had snow in the night so the pavements outside are white. The roofs are clear though so I don't think it's gonna hang around for long.

Have a lovely day everyone

Morning Gem, well done love, you are doing so well with evicting your squatters.

I'll really have to try Gem, I keep thinking if I can loose all that weight, surely I can stop smoking. It's all to do with willpower isn't it love.

Smoking is an addiction Jim - it's not as easy as people think. I have never smoked in my life and I am very anti-smoking as other peoples smoke has got in the way of my enjoyment over and over again in the past and often made me feel unwell. That doesn't mean that I don't understand the relationship smokers have with cigarettes. I grew up in a house where my father smoked and ALWAYS had sinus problems. Those same problems happened when I was singing in pubs where people smoked a lot.

I watched with great admiration as my Dad made his decision to give up and actually did it. I know how much willpower and strength that took.

If you do it Jim you will reap the benefits and so will everyone around you but it is not an easy road. Good luck x

I lost a very good friend 3 months ago directly due to smoking. He was 34 with a lovely wife and 2 young children and always appeared so fit and healthy. It's never worth it, however hard it is to give up you could be sparing a whole lot of heartache for a lot of people
