Morning Abz. x

Hi Jools, I'm fine love you?

Yes abz, get it going love. :D

i am doing jim. i've already lost the gain that i seemed to have last week so am guessing it was all water. well. i have lost it until the scales decide to be awkward again :) but i'm on the straight and narrow this week :D no worries. robinsons fruit and barley is certainly helping the water go down...

what are you up to today jim? hard at work?

Hard at work? well that's relative isn't it love. :D Just working on some new reports. I have been asked to produce a Bottom 10 sellers, looks like we may be reducing the range of stocks we carry abz.

I'm good thanks Jim. Very quiet at work right now so getting rid of the horrible crap I've been putting off from when I was busier!!

Ah yes Jools, been there done that, haven't we all. :)

well i am entering all the asset tags of all our machines into a new system. beat that for interesting!!

Jeez, thank god I can farm that sort of stuff out. I wrote a database program to print and scan in asset tags.

Good morning everyone :)

Already been assessing the jobs ahead of me and don't think I have enough cables to connect up the computer desk - grrrrr  Will have to go searching which involves getting into the mind of Mr Stone as he moved a lot of stuff on Thursday evening. I think I moved most of that stuff so they should all be there but first on first glance it's not looking too hopeful :(

The book thing is gonna be a bit mega cos I don't really wanna get rid of any of the books but I know I have to get rid of some.

Good luck for the weigh in Taz - I reckon it will be a good one :)

Have a lovely day everyone :)

well one of the chaps wrote a script to grab them remotely... and then lost it. and is now on holiday. i could get most of them remotely but had to type it all into a spreadsheet. now i'm copying them individually into the system. now it's possible that there is a way to import it that i just don't know about, but to be honest it's nice to have something to spend time on that isn't really stressful that i can log against my name that shows i have been working hard :D

What do you use as the asset code abz, and do all the PC's have remote access enabled?

the majority of them do jim. they are dells and it's the service tag on the back of the machine. but like i say, i have most of them now. the only ones i haven't been able to grab are probably switched off (which they shouldn't be) so i'll have to do a trawl of the office later as i can't ping any of them, and have a gander.

service tag on the back of the machine.

Ah, we use the physical address of the PC as it's asset tag. I don't bother with service agreements abz, most PC's these days can last about 4 years, and by that time they are discounted down to 0 value on the asset register..

well we have a lot that are under warranty jim. company policy. and to be honest with the amount of times bits blow up it's a good job... the company wouldn't pay for new ones, you can guarantee that, so the fact that the warranties are valid is a good thing, ha. not all of the machines are though.

Really? we have very few problems with PC's. Printers now are a different matter.

well ours have intermittent problems, ha. they'll be fine for ages and then they'll go kaput. the company wants to save paper now so they've asked that we print double-sided... oh god. overheating and paper jams... let them commense!!

abz xx

that'll be a nightmare abz!
