Big Boys Need Love Too!

Perhaps I should have my hair cut cos I'm on course for sts again this week x

You have had something on every week lately Gem, maybe when things settle down you will start losing again

Morning!

It's very misty here today, Gem I'm sure it will sort itself out, Taz is right, you've had something on all the time lately.

Well - at least I lost some of the Christmas squatters immediately and have maintained since with the five extra. I'll be glad to get those off though and start moving my ticker down again. I'm quite realistic about weightloss and it'll happen when it happens - just as long as I don't start putting on!!!!

Spot on, that's the right attitude Gem

it is indeedy!! saying that, my deadline is looming!! ha.

hello everyone. i haven't been well today so have been asleep all afternoon and didn't get to go swimming.

did sort out our wedding monies early this morning though and i think we may make it yet without having to start married life with a mass of debt. other than the mass of debt we already have of course...

the honeymoon will have to go on credit card as i want to get it before we are married but hopefully chaps will be generous enough to donate so we can pay a bit lump of it off straight away :)

if anyone knows of any good credit card deals speak now!! maybe i should actually start reading the credit card crap that halifax is always sending me...

Abz, First Choice holidays do a thing where you can pay towards people's honeymoon as a wedding present. All you have to do is book your holiday and get the reference number and include that in the invitations in place of a gift list, then you just pay the remaining balance

Get onto Martin Lewis's website - he is usually up to date with the best credit card deals. What you need is 0 per cent on purchases :)

Sofa and chair completely sorted now and looking like a new suite - no sign of the cat scratches, they're all nicely hidden. That company are blooming marvellous!

so glad to hear about your furniture gem :D

i know taz. i've heard of it. but i want to wander into somewhere and get a fab last minute deal... and also there's a lot of people coming that just won't understand how to do something like that and will end up giving us money in any case. so i think i'm going to ask for money towards a honeymoon or ikea vouchers (for the sofa i've wanted for years. watch them discontinue it now i may get my hands on it!!)

Morning all.

Abz, before you buy a sofa from Ikea take a really good look at it's internal construction. We had one that broke withing a week and when we took it apart we found out why - it was constructed with only 2x2 wood and totally not fit for purpose! I would never buy furniture from there again. We have 2 Argos sofa beds now and they are brilliant. We bought them from a friend and we have had them for over 2 years and they are still looking like new!

Good morning everyone :character00238:

Still some lovely sunshine out there.

Abz - When we bought our leather corner unit (10 years ago I think!) we looked at one in Ikea cos the Ikea one was the first one I saw in a holiday home and fell in love with it. Someone told me to look around and see what there was. It was quite a scary purchase cos it was well over a grand (a lot dearer than the Ikea one) and we couldn't really afford it. We bought it from Courts (not sure they are still around) and hoped it would last a few years!!! Now, 10 years later I realise you can have a lot done to furniture as long as the main construction is sound. The lady that came also said that if one of the main pieces goes that can usually be sorted too.

I guess what I am saying is get something you really like and the best you can afford, then if something does go wrong some years later get it repaired :)

It may have been an expensive suite way back then but I've just got what seems like a new suite for £79 - bargain :)

Morning!

Jeez are we talking furniture on every thread this morning :(

I'm still totally amazed Jim but I'll get over it

LOL, It does sound from what you and Taz have said that they have done an amazing job, and I can't believe the price either Gem.

You could do that every couple of years couldn't you Jim - and better for the environment not to keep dumping old furniture. I reckon it could go on another 10 years at this rate!!!

hey guys. totally see what you are saying but this IS all we can afford. which is why we haven't had it in the years since i spotted it. one of my friends has had the same sofa for a year now and it's still like new. and it has removable, washable covers, which is important. but most importantly it's BRIGHT RED CORDUROY which is, of course, the most important thing to be taken into consideration when purchasing furniture :D

we've had the ikea sofabed for about 8 years now. i think it's seved it's due :)

yes Gem. We bought a very expensive suite about 10 or 11 years ago when the kids had finally gone, it seems to be holding up well, we have two covers for it, one a winter one and the other summer.
