Sunday 31st December - New Years Eve 2006
New Years Eve 2006
Well, the day started wonderfully with another call from Mr K..
(A gal could get used to this!!) and a long conversation about all manner of things.. funny,... we never seem to tire of talking.. (good job too as I do so much of it!
)... We (the girls and I ) had to be up and out of the house by 8am... NOT an easy feat with 2 teens I can tell you! lol So.. as soon as Mr K & I finished chatting I got to it with them.. woke them up... I got ready.. they got ready.. we set off at 8.15 which, to be honest, was FAR better than I had anticipated! lol We were off to visit my mother and stepfather in Chalfont St Peter.. (very powsh you know! lol)
Sarah complained that she had been up all night with an upset tummy again, so I did what only a mother would.. told her she would be fine, to wrap up well, and that I would buy some imodium en route! lol (2 hour drive!!!)... there was NO WAY she wasn't going to come with us.. she hasn't seen her grandparents for over 6 months.. AND.. my sister and my nephews were going to be there too.. so we set off.. stopped at the first garage... no imodium.. bought some water.. gave it to her and said for her to sip it.. prayed for her to be ok until we could get to some for her!
Mum was expecting us all to arrive by 10. (no pressure, but if you are 30 seconds late, well... let's just say, I think I know who Stormin' Norman got his style from!!!)..
I decided to go a different way than usual and headed along the A45 and onto the M1, logic being this would be faster and smoother for the patient in the back! It was a wise move! We rang my sister from the car and asked if she had any imodium... nope... so .. we stopped at the services at Toddington to get some. Sarah dashed to the loos.. poor kid.. she did look a bit pasty.. but you know what.. I warned her not to eat before she should.. but would she listen (I KNOW you are reading this in that sanctimonioius tone of voice that mothers use when they are in full 'I-told-you-so' mode.. lol)... no.. she wouldn't listen and was suffering.. I did feel sorry for her.. hence the imodium
They didn't work.. we had to stop again.. and just made it in time to mums for her too.. poor love. Got there and sis was in a state, latest boyfriend showing signs of being a bit of a con merchant.. let's just say.. I think he's too smooth by half and won't be sorry if she decides the same! She deserves far better than he is treating her.. but .. she is older than me and it's her life.. so I but out (I know.. bet you never thought I could do so.. but I can! lol)..
Mum was so pleased to see us all, AND, we got there on time (despite the loo stops).. we had a smashing time.. mum took me aside to tell me how proud she is of me and that she can't believe how well I'm doing.. and to stick with it.. and that I now look 'normal'.. I confess... it made my get a lump in my throat.. she has been a fierce critic of mine for many a year.. but this.. well.. this meant such a lot to me.. and even though I know I am far from 'normal' (and to some extent never want to be classified as such
) ... from her lips.. those words were pure and utter nectar.
I'll have to continue this later.. as Sarah needs the pc.. so.. part 2 of NYE to follow! (sorry - I know it's a lot to plough through.. but I want to get it all out.. lol - there's stuff about my first hub..about 'Eric'.. about my step-sister.. and that's without the events of the evening!!! Arrfgh... no wonder I've put it off!! See you later xxx thanks for hanging in there with me on all of this.. xx
