BordersGirl's Final Phase to Goal - I lost 6 stone!!

My hubby claims that my tummy is skin not fat - but it isn't. Don't get me wrong - I do have some lose skin - but I also have a chunk of fat. I think if I get to 10 stone and still have it then I may decide that I need to address it via exercise rather than losing more weight. Hmmm - interesting. Bit more mulling I think.

It's an interesting discussion - when to stop. Key to this is what weight can we maintain with ease.

My question is: do our previous weights have a relevance? Is there a stasis point?

I have been overweight all my adult life. In fact I think my perception that I was fat at school just cos I was larger than some girls and having to buy clothes in Evans as I was size 16 at university meant I then embraced an identity of a BBW. It became self fulfilling, and I got fatter most years.

So what relevance to me, at nearly 53, is the fact that I was 12 stone in 1978 and 14 stone by 1986? I see my goal as a range between 12-10 stone - and want to stop at a weight I feel great at and maintain well. I'm happy with the ambiguity but wonder what you think, BG and other Minimins friends, about past history and future goals.

I think its a combination weasy for me , its definitely an area of stubbourn fat , as im apple shaped i tend to hold alot of my weight there
but it is definitely made worse by the fact that my skin has been stretched, especially by my last pregnancy , I was huge and my son was 10lb when he eventually came out 15 days late , and i was also cut twice , which means you are left with a scar which provides a lovely underlining of my stomach, I think alot of c section women have this over hang
It means that things never fit quite right

of course i hope that losing the weight and exercising plus time will improve how it looks but i have a feeling no matter what I do it will always be there whether it be big or small

Unfortunately we cant chose where the fat comes off and even if I was 8 stone I would still have this

I was 8 and a half stone when I was in my early 20s. I was pretty slim (a small size 10 I think) but I'm definitely not going to try for that as I think I'll be plagued with loose skin and a turkey neck at my age now. My maintenance plan was going out after work, not eating anything apart from the odd bag of crisps, drinking lots of vodka, then doing it all over again the next day. I'm definitely not returning to that maintenance plan!

I haven't had kids but I still do have a sort of overhang of my stomach although it's getting a lot better than it was (was awful at the start). It feels like a wobbly jellyish fat area. I think that toning would probably help with this too but I am not really motivated to do much yet to be honest. There is more loose skin on the inside of my thighs than anywhere else at the moment. I'm hoping that it will firm up over time. I want to feel like I would be confident enough to go on holiday and wear a swimsuit (not necessarily a bikini, but a 1 piece or a tankini would do). I'm not there yet.

they do say that once you have lost the excess fat , it takes about a year for your skin to readjust , excercise can help and body brushing plus a good moisturizer
I think after that whatever is there you are pretty much stuck with
Id better start saving :)

Think I'd better start saving too ;). Actually I have a boob job in mind, and not one of the implant kind!

Perhaps we can all save up and go together for a 'holiday' to have our skin seen to in a year's time!

Where do you suggest Weasey? ;)

Ooo - sounds like a fun investigation!

I'll watch you 2 have your skin stretched while I have my boobs nipped and tucked :)

Maybe I'll have my boobs increased while I'm under the knife - just a bit...

Can I come on this holiday as well! Lol.
I will need some work done at maintenance!
