Cai's atkins attack!!

Cai

has a thin girl inside!
Hi all,

Brief background:

I have been doing SW for over 18 months with an amazing loss - but it's hard now, losses are more often little gains and I have 1 stone to loose!

I did Atkins diet about 7 years ago and lost 3 stone very quickly and easily - maybe this stone will shift from me?!?

I'm a teacher so for the full 6 weeks I need to stick to it 100% with the exception of 2 weddings and a bday meal - which I will still try to be good at!

Atkins brings back bad memories of which I will not go into at the mo but hopefully I will break it! :)

I am going to dig my book out so until then I am playing it by memory!!

Please help!!!

B - skipped as running late for Zumba.

L - scrambled eggs and cheese!

- I only has small amount of cheese as can't remember what the rule is!

I weighed myself this morning and was 11.4 (.4) so want to be 10.4!! :-/ is 6 weeks long enough?! I bloody hope so!

I was looking for my old book but no luck, now seen this u think I need to look it up on the Internet or maybe here?! X

Hi Cai, fantastic losses so far!

Suggest you take a look in the sticky section for 'so you're thinking of starting atkins' for some ideas and also pick up a copy of the book for reference. You can usually find them cheap on amazon second hand.

The rough guides are (I think - I'm in owl not induction so I go over these a little)

Up to 90g hard cheese per day
Up to 2 tbsp double cream per day
Use cream over milk (milk is high carb)
You can also try unsweetened soya milk if you like something lighter in your tea/coffee
Aim for 20g carbs per day, 15g of which should be from induction vegetables
Cook using fats and oils - the majority (65%) of your daily cals should come from fats.

Thanks for yr help.
I have read that stickie - not all of it a it's LONG of replies.

As for my loss, I was a stone lighter in feb ad there has been no reason for me to gain, just laziness towards the SW diet. :-(

RED days on SW always gave me better losses but recently the option to have a bar of choc has caused me to binge a lot (especially in the last 2 weeks!) so this morning i decided Atkins was worth a try again!! V happy I made the decision :)

Looking forward to loosing this stone with u all on Atkins!! Xxx

Right.

Not sure this is 100% Atkins, need a new version of the book!!

Snack was turkey with cheese (see pic below looks like a sandwich!)

Tea - home made beef burgers ( mince and egg) cooked in oil, with a boiled egg, mayo, onions, peppers and courgettes.

I weighed them and think I got it right?! Help me of I haven't!!

Looking forward to getting weighed again!! Lol. How sad?!

Hello Cai and welcome...

You've done so well and perhaps the change will shift the final stone!

I'd keep away from onions though on your first couple of weeks - they are fairly carby ...

Good luck! Xx

Thanks for the advice :) onions mushrooms courgettes and peppers are my absolute favourite! Are the others ok??

I will stay away from the onions from now :)

Is it 2 weeks for the induction phase? Xx

Swap regular onions for spring onions - much lower. Peppers are also slightly high - you can still have them but count the carbs when you eat them.

Induction is a minimum of 2 weeks but many people stay on for several months.

Excellent :) I was thinking of my 6 week holidays. :)

Spring onions is a good idea - will get onto that tomorrow :) thanks x

Also done 10ins on cross trainer :)

Hi there Cai, well done on your fantastic loss so far - that's brilliant!

Just to add to the veg discussion, green peppers have about half the carb content of red or yellow peppers, so you can use them more freely on Induction.

I'm sure you'll get used to this WOE in no time - good luck!:)

Feeling very good today!!

See pice regarding weighing scales!! :) lost just over 3 lbs! I kno I know it's water etc but it's just what I need to see in order to keep it up.

Pic no.2 is of my breakfast - turkey breast 50g cheese and a fried (in oil) egg! Yum.

I need to find out of I can add salt to things? Anyone know? X

Was going to attack the cross trainer this morning but it is way too hot - so instead I am going to clear out lots of junk!!

Spring/summer clean!! Xx

Yes, salt is something you actively need on Atkins as you should also be drinking lots of water. Add away.

Are there any other drinks ican have apart from tea and coffee??

I think I may have read coke zero somewhere - I have looked through the 'so yr thinking of joinin Atkins' page and noted the sweeteners which r not aloud are in my dilutes here. But Ideally someone would just let me know about a flavoured drink lol.

As fr the salt - I added it to my lunch and it was yum!

Lunch was just 2 scrambled eggs as hunger is not happening :-D woop

Snack - last of the homemade burgers, Edam cheese slice, boiled egg and mayo.

Had an early tea as off of a sudden my appetite came back!

Steak and leaf - was ok, very chewy :-(

Hubby didn't like his so I ate it too - and here is the bad bit - his had a creamy peppercorn sauce on! :-( :-( I tried to scrape some off but it was delish so did eat majority of it!

Feel bad now!

Looked on bk of the pack and it doesn't give the info regarding just the sauce. So going to try find it in MFP and c what damage I have done :-(

Hopefully not too much!
