Cai's atkins attack!!

Used MFP and looked it up. Calculated the full day (so far) and my carbs at at 10.9g - is that too high??
Did I read 5g somewhere or was that for any one item? I have also seen 20g floating about!

Didnt realise how carby salad was!!!

Thanks for yr help.
I have read that stickie - not all of it a it's LONG of replies.

As for my loss, I was a stone lighter in feb ad there has been no reason for me to gain, just laziness towards the SW diet. :-(

RED days on SW always gave me better losses but recently the option to have a bar of choc has caused me to binge a lot (especially in the last 2 weeks!) so this morning i decided Atkins was worth a try again!! V happy I made the decision :)

Looking forward to loosing this stone with u all on Atkins!! Xxx

So agree , SW is fab but the syns leave me wide open ! Lol

Right been to tesco - bought more eggs, cheese, gammon, tuna, sugar free jelly (is this ok?) and cream!
That's tomorrow's food sorted! I wanted some reduced meat but all the stuff they had were not Atkins friendly (sausages and burgers mainly)

I also bought soya milk! ;-) no idea what it is going to be like!

I have got some jelly setting and am planning on whipping some cream up to go with.

Also got some come zero as I read on here is was the best one. Not planning on drinking loads, just one glass a day (1.5 l bottle)

Feeling good again for sticking to this :)

Mouth tastes off (good sign) and I have armed my self with some tesco own senakot tablets which I think I will take from tomorrow every other day ish to Leo prevent

After two years of on-off Atkins, I'm a major fan of soya milk, won't touch milk anymore - as long as the soya is unsweetened - why do they add sugar, who knows? If you want to add sugar, you'd add it. Anyway, welcome to the world of label detectives :)

Re the senakot, you should be fine re #2s (we call it walking in the park lol) if you get most of your carb allowance from green leafy veg. Spinach so works for me :)

Spinach is a good idea!!! I love it - why did I not see it on ye list of 'allowed' veg?! I must be blind (unless it's a phase 2/3 veg?!) I remember last time I did Atkins (8-9 yrs bk) I really struggled with waking in the park (lol) and so this time thought senakot would just be a good idea; will c how I go on then! Last time I did it I can't remember having the greens with my meals!!

Is sugar free jelly still ok? I haven't got a new copy of the book yet and can't find my old copy - prob threw it out over the years! Lol x

Greens are good :) And honestly my weight loss was much better when it was just protein and green veg. Then I got bored...but I never forgot the basics :) Cook from scratch, stop when you're full and just be honest about what you're eating.

Re the s/f jelly - have it when you need to satisfy the sweet tooth craving, or the "I must have something after dinner" thing - just not too often.

Good luck - we are all here with you xxx

Thanks for the support :) I am excited to see the results - my parents went away today for 2 weeks and I am secretly hoping they notice when they get bk - and are likely to mention it if they do!

Good advice re true jelly too! I do have a v sweet tooth and havegone without anything the last2 days which is good for me - will prob have a small amount of the jelly tomorrow - how long does it keep in the fridge?? Hope it lasts a bit as made a pint of it lol xxx

Morning Cai... Great focus ! You're doing really well! X

Morning everyone!!

Wasn't it hot last night?! Drank a load trying to cool down!

Am pleased to report that my scales have shifted again and are showing the 10's again! (finally!) really need to keep on moving through the 10's now and no looking back! :)

Breakfast will be scrambled eggs made with 2 eggs and cream - maybe a touch of cheese on top

Think lunch will be home made burger with cheese. (will weight it as to not go over my allowance!)

No idea about tea yet, I have salad leaf in so will be that maybe with a slice of gammon or some form of eggs lol. I need to look at recipes on herefor some more ideas!

Going to a Zumba class at 10 then have an appointment re the school website at 1pm so lunch might be early or late!
The last I am going with will be fasting so I won't eat in front of her :)

I don't want to wish my summer holidays away too much but looking forward to seeing what the scale have in store for me tomorrow! Lol

Just need some more/new menu ideas!

Lunch was late @3.15 but been busy all day! :-/

Ate the very last of the mince (made into burgers) with cheese on top and a spoon of mayo as was quite dry!

Going to whip some cream up and have some jelly soon I think.

Soya milk in coffee is actually quite nice! I am impressed!! It is a funny colour tho lol

Zumba was hard work but good!! No class tomorrow as going to be having my nails done then shopping :) will go on the cross trainer hopefully tonight and tomorrow tho!!

What can I eat when in meadowhall?? Any advice?

Maybe chicken salad and then no salad with my tea?!

Well ... The awful taste from my mouth started to ease off which worried me - does that mean I am not in ketosis anymore?? :-(

So I'm going to check on MFP the grams of carbs but I still had my omelette as planned for tea!

Cheese and bacon :) was yummy and hubby enjoyed it too! - he didn't eat much of my meals when I followed SW - I have t told him I have switched diets as he gets bored if hearing about it. He doesn't normally seem bothered about his weight although a stone off would be good for him me thinks!

Then, out of the blue, when I declared in FB that I was waning to loose a stone this summer holidays he decides he could loose a bit.
As I am sat here typing it he is on his 2nd snack size marsbar! Lol - not sure he has a diet mode in him at all!!

Anyway, I will go and check my carbs and update when I have worked it out!

Does anyone know f there is an overall day summary as at the mo I am adding the carbs up of the diff items!

10.8 g'a of carbs according the MFP - how accurate is this?!

The cream I have no idea how much I really had as whipped 1/3 if the pot but not used it all etc so had to estimate it!

Anyway, had 4 glasses of water do far and 3 small coffees with soya milk.

Will try have another glass of water later :)

Evening Cai... Nice menus... Maybe the sf jelly might knock you out of ketosis if you're sensitive to artificial sweeteners... Xx

That's what I was worried about!! Especially after my total carbs was low!!
It was bloody nice tho!! will see what the results show tomorrow and if it is bad I will just throw it all away! Best way. SF jelly is def not worth it lol.

How much cream can I have? I think I've had too much today as mixed it in with my scrambled eggs as well as with my jelly!! Will that bring me out of ketosis as well?
I'm pleased to report I think that taste is coming back!! :-/ not pleasent but good to recognise lol xx

Cream can stall depending on you and how much you have ... Approx 30ml per day is allowed, I think !

I think I have had about 100ml today! :-(

Feel like I have ruined my day :-(

Am I right in thinking that I do t need to worry about total Kals? Cos MFP tells me to eat less kals. Mind u it did have 700kals down as cream as I think I put 150mls in it to be on the safe side! :-( x

Don't worry about cals yet, after about 2 weeks it might be worth looking at them - I eat anywhere between 1200-1800 per day with occasionally a day higher or lower.

I also often have a bit more than the recommended amount of cream - it's unlikely to do you any harm this early on but try to keep it to roughly 2tbsp per day. You definitely haven't ruined your day, it's only limited because of the very high cals and because occasionally people find cream stalls them

Jelly is very unlikely to kick you out of ketosis although some people can be very sensitive to it. Again, for most people having it now and then won't hurt at all. If you find you stop losing after a few weeks (second and third week don't count as loss often naturally stalls in one of those weeks while your body adjusts) then try cutting it out - though if you can get by happily without it cutting it now obviously won't hurt either - as long as it doesn't send you hunting other sweet things.

My mouth doesn't taste funny after the 2nd or 3rd day of ketosis. Idk if that just means I get used to it or if it's because I drink enough to dilute it but it doesn't indicate a problem to me.

Aim for around 20g carbs per day mostly from vegetables - try spinach, cauliflower, courgette, asparagus, rhubarb (yes it's a vegetable) and salad leaves.
