Cheekychinchilla's food and stuff

It's driving me nuts Barbette. I think I let myself get a bit too stressed today and the backlash of it is me feeling crap and ouchy and meh. But I do feel a bit better now :)
Willing to face another day tomorrow anyway! Only in for 3hrs tomorrow. Found out Wednesday's will always be my 3 hour day. Why they don't just up my contract to 20hrs and make life easy I dunno ;)
Hope they just let me do my job tomorrow and stop throwing stuff at me. Would be perfectly happy to be in theatre prep or in consult rooms with vets. Kennels can bugger off tho ;)

I forgot to say, in between all the moaning. I finally got paid today!! More than I was expecting as well, so  For the first time in months I've put money in my savings, I have a bit of spare cash, money for Mum, and I've paid the car tax! Feels so good to know I have a bit of money!

I'm pretty impressed with my food today! I felt REALLY hungry before tea but let Mum and Rachelle make their tea so I had the kitchen free, so made myself wait even longer! And have had all but my Alpen Light, which I'll have in a min, and feel quite full! Just shows what you can get out of 500cals if you really try! It's really interesting looking at calories. Although I couldn't calorie count all the time, would drive me nuts! It's what I love about SW, only really counting calories for synnable stuff. Takes so much hassle out of it!
I'll have to start taking pics of my fast day food. Tonight's tea was particularly colourful and BIG! :D

Think I'll take a peppermint tea to bed when I go up to read. xx

Work wasn't too bad today. I was in theatre prep and the night time team had been operating, so the place was a tip. At one point I had 2 vca's helping me and my boss lol! I was like "Get out of my bloody room!!" ;)
That was only for an hour then we had a big staff meeting. My God everyone is p*ssed off at the powers that be. These big management upheavals are NOT going down well! Kinda fun to see everyone riled up. And for me to have a catch-up at what's been going on!
The general feeling is people have no faith in the higher up's, people are really scared for the future of their jobs, and also very very worried at where the charity is going. It's predicted that we'll be getting further and further away from being a charity and not all that far off. Very worrying and we're absolutely outraged!! Our founder must be turning in her grave!!
Anyway, it was nice to just sit down for a couple of hours with some juice ;) I even avoided the HUGE box of sweeties that were being handed round.

After work I stopped at McDonald's to get my friend Michelle's surprise birthday lunch. I told her I'd be picking myself up something from Tesco so she asked for a sandwich. I totally threw her off and she was thrilled!
BUT, I didn't get a single thing from Maccies!! I tried to order a garden salad, but they didn't have any. Nice one McDonald's! So I did nip to Tesco for a couple of small packs of veggie sushi and also got a Chinese mugshot - which are free still aren't they?
Had one sushi pack at Michelle's and the Mug Shot - haven't had that lunch in ages. It's so nice! Had the other sushi pack when I got home.

Pretty virtuous saying no to sweets and McDonalds. I even grabbed a coffee from Costa and just got a black coffee! Nothing else :D :innocent0002:

Just had a nice shower and chucked my stuff in the wash. Going to pick Mum up in a bit and we're going to see either Jack Ryan or I, Frankenstein :)
Got some nice healthy snacks too, fruit and yogurt. I do have either a Malteser Bunny or some Minstrels, but kinda think I should be good and leave them at home. Hmmm.... I do also need to have some Hex's....

Had a sneaky mid week WI around lunchtime and I've lost 1kg/2.2lbs so far this week :D Would be great if I could lose the rest of what I stupidly managed to put on last week

Also got a text from my boss while I was waiting for Michelle and she was asking if I'd be better doing the early shift at the weekend so that I would have more staff with me and more support (think she overestimates them ;)) But thought it was really nice! I text the girl who would have to swap with me, even though my boss said she'd spoken to her and she's fine with it. I feel bad because poor Becci has had to do lates on the weekend shifts the whole time I've been off! I promised once I'm up and running I will do a couple of extra lates for her :) Was actually pretty touched! I don't think it will make much difference, but it's the first kind of olive branch I've been offered, so might as well take it!

The pay is most definitely appreciated! Car tax, a bit for Mum, and I'm getting my hair done tomorrow!!! That'll do. Easily pleased me ;) xx

Your work sounds like a litle unsettled at the moment, I hope they get it sorted soon and it calms down not nice working somewhere where's there's tension :(
Well done on resisting the tempation of sweeties and maccies, amazing restraint  And wel done on the loss :D
And that was really nice of your boss to think about you and help out x x x

It's about time really that my boss showed a bit of effort and understanding. I doubt very much I will have the support she thinks I will, but ah well, will give it a go. So working 8am-6:30 Sat and Sunday now.

I didn't realise it was so bad in work. Apparently head office have had this woman in who comes in to a company, shakes everything up, and moves on to the next. Bit different with a charity tho! I know we have to be efficient and productive and we do have to make money, but no one is happy with the way it's being handled at all! Quite worrying. One thing is, it seems everyone has united as a team in anger against the higher ups lol! Gotta bring us together some how!

Have had my hair done today :) Got rid of the copper because it wasn't working for me. Usually takes me a few days to get used to colours, so will let you know what I think then lol. Think she may have put a bit too much of the bright red highlights in, but I'll see.

On a fast day today and have only just eaten. So no food from last night, around 10, till 3:15 today. Accidentally took a swig of Coke Zero, but I'm sure there was nothing in that. I think the calories are like 2 per 100g and my mouth isn't that big :p
Also made a coffee with the flavoured ones  and that's 2 calories. Ffs! Didn't even think about that...

Off to my friends in a bit to finally meet their new dog. Thought I'd better make an effort and offer to go round because I think it's going to have to come from me. Pain in the a*se having to put all the effort in tho. She did invite me for tea but I nicely declined and made something up lol.

Food to follow....

Thursday food: Fast Day - not cutting out caffeine today with visiting my friend. Avoiding food is one thing, but hot drinks is another!!

Lunch: 300ml of the Souper Green New Covent Garden soup (108cals)

Planned Tea: Quorn cottage pie 300g chilled (219cals)
200g Roasted cauliflower & broccoli with Frylight garlic salt, paprika, and salt (63)
Dressing (4)

Snack/dessert: Alpen Light (70)
50g strawberries (16)
20 blueberries (16)

Drinks: Coffee (2cals for the stupid caramel one) 1.5l of water. Peppermint tea.

Calories used: 498
Calories left: 2 :flirt2:

Exercise: A quick hoover.
Cleaning the bunnies & de-poo'ing part of the garden.
20mins wandering round Asda with a very heavy basket

I think a lot of companies are under pressure at the moment but it must be hard for a charity as people expect miracles but you've still got to make money to keep on going. I think the staff, the bosses and the public all have different ideas of what you should be doing, must be a hard act to balance.
I hope your long weekend shifts go ok and isn't too much for you.
Fasting and going out that is brave, you really are good at this :D x x

We're moving too far away from the principles of the charity. We provide free veterinary care for pets who's owners can't afford veterinary treatment. We're moving towards accepting private clients and also ramming buyable stuff down our clients throats! I understand things have to change and we have to move with the times - which is why we offer severely subsidised neutering, vaccinations, worming, and flea treatment. For the benefit of the animals health! But this new way of thinking is completely against what our charity stands for! It's really sad :( The way it's heading they're going to start losing loyal staff!

To be honest with the fasting, knowing I wouldn't be faced with food it was quite easy. I just had a couple of coffee's and grabbed a bottle of water in Asda! If there were food on offer I totally would have caved :p But chatting and playing with the dogs (they have a new rescue puppy!) took up a lot of time and took my mind off food. Made it a bit easier! Didn't get to eat till 10:45 tho. So hungry lol! Glad I planned a filling tea :)

Mort, my friends new whippet puppy is adorable!! She was found with the rest of the litter and her parents in someone's back garden shed! No food or water, skinny as hell, covered in fleas and poo and everything :( She's lovely though and pretty well behaved for such a young dog - she's about 9 weeks old. I do have some teeth marks and a big scratch, but she's cute enough that I'll let her off ;)

Just watching Sunshine and gonna have my snacky bits in a bit. Think this fast day has gone quite well. Left eating till quite late for both meals, so should help with insulin production and 'repair' :) And I'm so having a proper lie-in tomorrow so wont eat till at least 1pm ;) xx

Has there been a recent change in who's in charge of the charity? I'm asking because we used to get our pet insurance through them as it was the most affordable around, but this year it more than doubled so we have gone else where. I would never not have Sam and Tia not insured especially Sam but at the same time it's got to be affordable. I liked using the PDSA as I thought the profits would go and do some good. It sounds as though the charity has become more money orientated and I can imagine the staff being disillusioned especially if they worked there because they were helping animals of people on low incomes. Is any of this feed back going back to the bosses above?
The puppy sounds so sweet, I can never understand how people can be cruel to animals. I've been so broody lately, I go gaga watching cute videos I'm driving Ian mad lol.

They've brought someone in who 'shakes things up' and moves on to the next place. All way higher up management have been pushed out one by one. I couldn't even begin to explain the management hierarchy lol, way to complicated for me. But yeah, lots and lots of changes, redundancy's, new people, etc... Apparently they're all like marketing and business people rather than veterinary type staff. Probably people who have no idea what goes on in the veterinary world, never mind a charity!

We were read out an email from a head of another region that he sent to all management of the hospitals and regional managers. It was fantastic! Very well written and quite sharp ;) So our staff meeting was to get our own views and feelings and do the same. We managed to fill 1 and a half big flip chart pieces of paper! So the idea is our bosses will get it all down in to a document and give it to our regional manager (although he wont be ours for long!!) and potentially send it higher too.
It's not nice to think that we all work for this charity because of it's beliefs and the good work it does. If they go through with all these crazy changes we might as well go back to working in private practice. Something most of our staff left because of all this crap! It's just heartbreaking for me personally to think that I finally got this dream job (I always wanted to work for an animal charity) and we're facing the charity not even being what it was any more. It's really sad :(

The puppy is adorable. Just sharp! You should see the big long cut on my arm! And it's very sore. Good job she's cute ;)

This is Lulu (their retired greyhound) and Mort :)

Looking forward to my food day today ;) I got my lie-in but didn't sleep as well as I'd hoped. Always the way when you REALLY need to get some sleep done for something big isn't it?!

The puppy is a whippet :) All legs!

Today was ok-ish. Relatively steady for us, rather than absolutely mental constantly. It did go crazy for the last hour and a half and we were running round like loons. I ended up with reception and the emergency phone for half an hour because Becci was stuck and hadn't had her break or anything. Why it kicks off around 5 every day is beyond me, especially a weekend.
It didn't help that 'my' nurse was the one who does no cleaning and just bosses around all day. Extra support?! Like f*ck there was!! She didn't even clean a kennel, not a single one! or did any washing, dishes, tidying, etc... Not that she does anyway, but I had a slight bit of hope that she might help me a little with it being my first weekend. But, no, not a chance...
The other nurse, who's covering for my friend today, is a cow as well. Usually blanks everyone, is very rude, up her own a*se, etc... But she's been pretty nice to me recently. She even spoke to me several times today, just me!! Like, there were no other people in the room. And when she wanted me to do something she asked! And kept saying stuff like "Can I ask a favour?" or "Could you just" instead of the usual whip cracking and barking orders! It set me on edge lol
Maybe it's the start of her being nice to me. But even if it was only a one off it made for a slightly more pleasant day.

Anyway, I was doing kind of alright but it really hit me around 4pm. Like a bus! The exhaustion and pain was ridiculous! I felt so bad, but there was so much to do. Just did what I could. Ended up having to leave the kits and instruments used from an orthopaedic op (not supposed to do them of a weekend!!!) I cleaned them and put them thru the ultrasonic and just left them to dry. I did put the drapes in to soak and tidied the other stuff. Felt bad leaving stuff, but all the empty kennels were clean, washing and driers were all on, dishes were washed and put away, and my areas were pretty tidy. Not bad considering! I was lucky it wasn't mental all day tho or I'd have never gotten through all that.

Food was good and I didn't pick at any biscuits or crap :) I wasn't particularly hungry and had to rearrange my food a little lol. But after the exhaustion hit I was really hungry, so was glad I saved my Animal Biscuits and an Alpen Light or I'd have been looking for junk!
Think I did really well on the food front. Had a nice, BIG comfort food tea too :) Got some nice food for tomorrow too.

When I got in I did the dishes (ffs!!), made tea for me and mum, made my salad and fruit tub for work tomorrow, and did a bit of a kitchen tidy. So sick of coming home to mess and dishes and stuff. As if I haven't got enough to deal with
Anyway, just gonna watch tv and try to relax.xx

I know how you feel about getting home and starting again, that's me every day :( I sometimes wish I could have a day off.
You sound as though you've had a really tiring day, you did well to getb through. Well done :D Hopefully you'll get a little help tomorrow and get some sleep tomorrow night.
And a massive well done on your food, you're doing so well at the moment x x x

Hey matey!
I just get a bit fed up of looking after the house when there are other people living here. The animals, fair enough, they're mine. But a little help wouldn't hurt!! I try not to leave stuff for Mum to do as she works full time and has a billion illnesses, and she does help some times. It's harder when my Sister and her boyfriend are here.
When she was here more I would build up all this tension and then explode. Not that it ever did any good like!
Just a bad week with work and everything and I could have done without the extra hassle. All's I seem to have ever done is look after animals and people, it does get to you sometimes doesn't it?!
Anyway, I'm fine, was just getting annoyed, esp after such a long shift.

Work was even worse today. When I got in at 8 the emergency team were still all working in the hospital. usually by that time they're all chilling out in the staff room having breakfast together before the last health checks before their shift finishes. But today they were all busy, the place was an absolute tip, they'd op'd again through the night, kennels and cattery was a mess, just a nightmare! And I was first staff in for us by half an hour. Plus, I had the emergency phone (luckily quiet!)
From the moment 'my' nurse got in she just flapped and moaned about the mess and jus ordered me around. Like I was just standing around doing nothing  And she didn't do anything about it but complain!
By the time Becci came in I was no where near caught up and she ended up coming in to the back a lot to help me out and basically help the nurse so I didn't have to work with her. I eventually got on top of stuff about 12!
At one point she even left me with an old, blind, deaf, senile, aggressive dog by myself! Just went on her lunch while I had it on the table and it was leaking pee and diarrhoea everywhere, trying to bite me, trying to jump off the table, and I had to change it's fluids bag! I had to carry that dog (about 12kg) back to it's kennel once it had mostly stopped leaking, while she was snapping at me  Then the vet grabbed me coz Becci was busy, then an emergency came in and I had to wait for the 2nd nurse to come and drip it and sort out meds, etc, etc....
I went on my lunch quite late and when I got up there the nurse was like "You're late" I just said "I was busy!" I have no doubt that she will complain to my boss about not doing breaks and lunches with her, but tbf, I wasn't working WITH her, just her personal slave when she wanted me. She disappeared for hours on end! Didn't tell me when or where she was going. Didn't tell anyone to be honest!
So frustrating and infuriating!

I did get on top of my work without any more help, through a very busy day. When I left all the kits were clean and packaged, and the autoclave was going. There wasn't one dirty dog kennel and any empty were set up with beds for tomorrow, in cat kennels all the empties were clean and half set up for tomorrow, all the washers and driers were going, all bowls and dishes clean and put away, the yard clean, etc.... I think I did really well! I'm sure my nurse will complain about me, but I know Becci and the other nurse will back me up and I'm pretty sure the vet would too.

I'm absolutely exhausted. About 4pm I started going blurry and getting really sharp headaches, so put my glasses on when I went for my break. I had to slow down a lot but the kennels, esp the big walk-in's are hard work to clean. When I got home it really hit me. I'm in so much pain absolutely all over. I sat on my bed for ages and then groaned all through getting changed. Did a yoga exercise to help my back and my neck vertebrae went "pop pop pop!" Ouch! I feel like I've been beaten up or hit by a truck :( And I haven't had these sharp headaches for a while. The regular pressure one is still there, as always!, but these sharp ones come and go.
I've noticed as well my throat and ears get very sore the more tired I get and my ears get very noisy too - tinnitus and rushing noises. An absolute joy me ;)

BUT I survived!! And I (personally) think I did my job very well and at a pretty decent standard. Not even "considering" it was my first weekend back, I think I did my job very well regardless of that. Will wait and see what my boss says on Thurs!!!

Anyway, decided to not go off plan but definitely celebrate getting through it. So got a Swedish cider and some chocolate. Had a bit of a healthy junk food tea too :)

Oh, and for the final bow on top..... I've lost 1.5kg/3lb this week :D Go me! Still can't update my stats, but hopefully soon eh?! Lets see what this week brings. This weekend should have definitely clocked a decent amount of calories burned anyway!!

Having a sort of day off plan tomorrow. Will have a low syn lunch and going to my friend's for tea for SW carbonara (there may be garlic bread, still undecided) but I AM getting pic and mix at the cinema for the Unlimited Screening of Dallas Buyers Club :D

xx
