It's not in a new area (except for the reception side of it) I've worked with animals all my adult life (voluntary work and owning a million pets before then) and got quite a few animal care and nursing qualifications. But getting in to a training practice is a BIG thing for anyone wanting to be a vet nurse, so it is a bit scary.
And having been out of work for 6 years now it's a massive step. But I really do think I'm ready :D If they do offer me the job I will ask if I can do a couple of voluntary half days or something before the job starts to see how it goes. That a good idea do you think??

I had a lovely evening with my friends. Lots to catch up on even though it's only been a couple of weeks since we saw each other.

Now I feel like total crap :( My arm is killing, I have a headache, and I feel like I'm gonna throw up :( Stupid flu jab!!

Urgh I feel rubbish today. Stupid vaccination!! Better than getting actual flu tho, I know. But still, I'm pathetic when I'm ill  Didn't go to the vets today either coz I would have been completely useless

Watching Bolt with the dogs to cheer me up :D

I didn't get it. Got a crappy one line rejection letter in the post this morning. Had a bloody 2nd class stamp on it as well!! No mention of voluntary work or anything. SO pissed of and disappointed.
Will prob phone them to ask for feedback, but will speak to my vet and the head nurse first on Tuesday and see what they think.
I just don't know what to do any more :(

Oh Kelly, I'm so sorry for you :(
Great idea to get as much feedback as you can from as many different people. It could be the fact that it was reception work and they knew you had less confidence in that area? It could even just be that they definitely wanted someone to work full time?
Hopefully this cloud will have a silver lining and you will find a vacancy for something more animal-centred very soon. Big hugs to you :)

Thank you PCS. When I stop being annoyed and upset I will no doubt see the things you have said, but right now I'm just thinking "Why don't they want me?!" :(
One thing I will do is push for my vet to train me in everything possible-esp reception and pharmacy. After this he will probably want me to do it anyway.
I'm so fed up :(

Aww hun so sorry you didnt get it, i feel your pain.
just wanted to congratulate you on your loss this week, and your 3 stone award! Well done!

Thank you cupcakekatie :) I was so pleased to finally get my 3 stone!!

I will no doubt mope about for a day or two, but I'll be ok. Will just pester to get trained even more now! Might even by myself a cute little note book to keep in my pocket for when I get shown new stuff :D
Starting to think of maybe getting a part time job (just basic 16hrs) somewhere to help with the money side of stuff. I dunno if I'm ready to cope with a job I don't want. But I might be. Will have a think over the weekend I think...

Oh awesome!!!!! :D

Just got an email from Jobrapido and my local PDSA hospital are looking for student animal care assistants!! It's part time, I would get a new qualification, the money is great, and the hours are perfect!!

I have heard that it can be quite a difficult place to work for, because of the type of work they do. But my vet works a lot with the RSPCA and goes to court with them to prosecute cruelty and neglect cases. So as horrible as it can be I KNOW I can deal with it-this week was a perfect example of the horrific stuff I can deal with (not gonna tell you so don't worry!). So yeah, as nasty as it could get, I know I can do it. And the experience alone would be worth it all.

Gotta send them a SAE to get an application pack, which I will do when I go into town tomorrow.

So yeah. Squeeeeee!!!! :bunnydance:
