The GL stands for glycemic load, so a more detailed version of the GI diet. It's similar to low carb in that both plans focus on balancing blood glucose levels, but different because eating a GL diet you would consume more carbs than on Atkins, but a lot less than a low fat diet. Hope that makes sense.
The south beach diet book is good and quite doable for me but will wait until the new year I think. I lost 1 lb this week without even trying so goes to show just how much I was eating.
Happy Thanksgiving anyone celebrating or needs a reason to. I'm having my friend from the neighboring village over. She's American too so we'll have lots of food and wine. May even try to find a live stream of the famous Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade from NY. Looking forward to it.

Yes it is a harvest festival. It's when the pilgrims put on a big feast after their first harvest in the new world. These days it's a lot like Christmas without the stress. A big Christmas type lunch and then the traditional football on the tv and of course falling asleep on the sofa totally stuffed. It's also very much a day when you reflect on all the things you have to be thankful for.
Today is black friday. It's when everyone rushes to the stores in droves and starts their Christmas shopping. Amazon uk has some great black friday deals throughout the day, worth a look.
I ate way too much and can't sleep. I honestly feel like I don't need a thing today, I'm that full
My son was invited to the house of a friend locally in Chicago for his Thanksgiving lunch. His first proper American Thanksgiving. I'm really thankful they opened their home to him. He had a great time.

I thought thanksgiving was to celebrate the arrival of the pilgrims on the mayflower? The native Americans met them and invited them to share their table, where they ate turkey (and then the pilgrims took their lands and killed them all)...

Hello lovely Sandra and everyone. Hope your all well.
I've not given up, just given up any kind of eating plan and have gained a fair amount of weight. Not going on the attack until after the new year though.
Also been working full time. I normally do about 15 hours a week and I've more than doubled them for a couple of weeks. By the time I get home and catch up on housework, I'm exhausted. I will get around to everyone's diary this week. I'm off from Thursday until Monday so a good chunk of time off.

Morning everyone. It's sleeting here today. We have a covering of snow in the countryside but it will be gone today unless the sleet tuns to snow again.
Started Christmas shopping yesterday and placed big online orders at various places so a little more in control.
1 week from Monday my lovely son will be home for Christmas. I keep getting teary just thinking of the airport reunion.
Tree is up and feeling very festive.
I seem to have a new daily ritual which involves a glass of wine and watching the delicious Inspector Lynley.
Started Christmas shopping yesterday and placed big online orders at various places so a little more in control.

Evening everyone. Been manically crazy getting house ready for son coming home Monday (can't wait beside myself with happiness at the thought). Having all the inlaws over for Christmas and they'll spend the night so there will be 9 of us. All rooms being used so have lots of junk to clear out and find a new hiding place for every thing.
Snowed here today but not very much, so working tomorrow. Off the weekend and lots to do.
Diet wise........ Trying to keep carbs at a minimum until I gorge on M&S party food Christmas Eve. Looking forward to having some kind of focus after New Year.
6 cases of wine in the house. Trying hard not to think about it.
