Consolidation CONSO COMPLETED, DIARY CLOSED

Morning!

Both my boys have got colds and my throat is definitely rough today, so no doubt the vit C hasn't worked properly. Still, it won't last. Taste buds awol though:(.

So today, PV conso with small amount of carbs and fruit x 2

B - Dukan porridge
S - tangerine with littlies at library Christmas morning
L - veg soup, roast chicken and spinach
D - more soup, omelette, bread and cheese
S - orange

I once made an extra huge Christmas cake to give to a charity which always collected food for the homeless at that time of year. When I handed it, wrapped in foil, to the charity man, he gasped at the weight of it and thanked me, with a horrified look on his face. I think he imagined that it was made of concrete (it was enormous and absolutely packed with dried fruit and rum).

I know exactly what you mean as, last night, wrapping up my other half's (fabulous brandy smelling) cake, I remarked on its weight! T'would break a toe if you dropped it!

Oh dear Robin... got any oscilli[can never remember the end of that word - those little homeopathic balls that pop in your mouth and cure all coldie ills if taken early...]

Here we go Robin: Oscillococcinum - of course! How could I have forgotten its name! Always have some in the house!

Thanks Jo. I do like homeopathic stuff (arnica mainly, or there's one that I give to the kids to help clear stuffy noses and the like) but am crap at taking anything myself. I'm getting through cups of tea just fine, that's helping a lot and I have some sugar-free sweets too.

No appetite, will just have the soup, I think. Too bad for the protein today.

aww Laura welcome to my worldof the non tastebuds its so annoying

Tea usually tastes nasty with a cold... how are you Robin? At least you'll be over the worst by the holidays - one consolation I s'pose! (and how's the weather?)

Morning!

We have snow, not much (couple of cm) but more forecast for the day. The wind has dropped though so it feels warm out (even though it's still negative temps). Think the snow is worse up north, Jo, so take care if you're going to your country place tonight.

I'm OK, still coughing but the tiredness has gone. Looking forward to a day of soup! Tea doesn't taste of anything, coffee not much more, but I did taste the ginger in the porridge this morning, so on the mend!

Scales +300 gr today. Don't know if that's the gala meals (maybe should have had them closer to PP day rather than the weekend ?) or 2 packets of sugar-free sweets I've worked my way through over the last couple of days. Or the fact that I sampled the mincemeat (more than once). Or all of those. Not bothered either way, it will no doubt come off at some point (probably in January).

Another weekend, with friends this time, so gala meal and trying to be good for the rest of the time!

B - porridge, tangerine
L - tomato soup (with 1 large potato for about 2 litres of soup - will replace the bread for today) with parmesan sprinkled on top, omelette, apple
D - gala meal - tartiflette with dukan-friendly coleslaw, chocolate mousse (won't have) with shortbread (will have the shortbread) and a glass of something.

Tomorrow PV conso

B - Dukan porridge
L - pork steaks with mustard sauce, veg, bread and cheese, baked apples with mincemeat (will count that as both portions of fruit:eek:)
D - something quick and easy, scrambled eggs, smoked salmon or fish with leftover veg from lunchtime

Morning!

Hope everyone's OK, seems there's snow everywhere (except here).

PV Conso with fruit x 2

B - porridge, apple
L - left over pork from yesterday, green beans
S - bread and cheese
D - with friends so no idea (I'm making mincemeat pastry thing for pudding but won't eat it - will give them another taste of British Christmas:D), will do my best to keep it carb-free-ish - I know there's fish starter, so I'll just pick at everything else and have a tangerine for pud (am taking some).

Amazing you've none of the white stuff, although my friends in the Jura tell me that theirs has melted now so perhaps "mine" in the country has too!

I went out for lunch. Paris's snow has turned into a grey watery slush... lovely NOT!

Morning!

Last night was good, food-wise could have been a lot worse! We had veg soup and bread, smoked salmon, crique - potato/egg thing (just had a tiny piece) and nobody was fit for cheese, then they all had mincemeat tart (and all loved it). Oh and I had a glass of red! So that will be conso and carbs day.

So today, PV conso with no extras (and doing without bread as I had extra yesterday)

B - Dukan porridge
L - hardboiled egg white, spinach with white sauce and grated cheese (daily ration) on top, tangerine
D - another dinner out, but more a buffet so will eat before I go (roast chicken with something) and just pick at whatever is vaguely Dukan-friendly

Christmas week is turning out to be harder than I thought!

Morning!

Last night, despite having a snack before going out, was a bit of a disaster. I had a small glass of wine, some bread/foie gras, some meat roll-type thing, a few stuffed dates (my fault, I shouldn't have taken them, they are my downfall) and (the only OK bit) a tangerine. As I'm not counting that as my gala meal (already had one this week and another on Christmas Eve) it will have to be a couple of strict days, especially as Monday evening had extras too.

So today, no extra carbs, cheese or fruit. Just normal cruise PV then PP tomorrow as per usual.

I don't think I'll do as well at weigh-in this week somehow;).

*slapped wrist*

Hey don't kick yourself Laura - you have the right attitude of knuckling down to it for a couple of days now - and it doesn't sound as if you had that much!!

I wish in the past I had had the same attitude of recognising when I had overeaten and then compensating before the weight piled on! I am only now back to the weight I was 2 1/2 years ago! I put on a stone in the month before I had my spine fused (I was feeling a bit stressed about it, but not a valid excuse) and then another two stones since. My clothes got tighter and tighter and I reverted back to fatter clothes (although I have never gone up to my fattest - I was 19.11 5 years ago!!)

Anyway I am just hoping that this time I will have my head out of the sand and do something about it if/when I put on a few pounds. I think that half my trouble is that having been that big, I look at myself now and I can see that I don't look as fat as I did then, even though I still have a tummy so my brain is kind of kidding me! Conversely when I got down to 11 stone before I had my Daughter, I still had a tummy and I still felt fat. However when I compare pictures of me now and then, the difference is very noticeable in my face.

Aw, Laura - it's such a dangerous time of year. You're already on 2 galas a week, though, aren't you? So that's only one slip-up meal you've had, which isn't so bad. Hopefully, you'll catch up with your PV and PP. Since you're most of the way through Conso, it may not cause too much of a gain, fingers crossed.

Stuffed dates, eh? It's chocolate with me - definitely my Kryptonite.

I wish in the past I had had the same attitude of recognising when I had overeaten and then compensating before the weight piled on!

That's a really great point. Definitely the best way to think about it, Laura. You've got the right way of thinking now and you'll get back on target again, for sure.

Thanks folks:D.

I think my mindset has changed in that I will compensate (at least a little) if I overindulge as I want to protect my health (avoid nasties associated with being overweight).

Then again, the dates were calling me:eek:.

Now that my Mum isn't here to 'overdo' Christmas (she prepared for months, baked, baked and baked again) I feel that I should be doing the stuff she did (which is stupid as we didn't do Christmas together and my Christmas is a much scaled down version of hers) so that the kids have the British side of Christmas covered too (never really bothered me before). So I've made (and eaten) mincemeat, bought twice as many dates as usual (MIL loves them too, so a big bag in her hamper), done a Christmas cake for my brother - with icing, he loves it, I hate it, Christmas pudding. Plus all the usual Christmas stuff I do (and Anja's cookies too, and the jammy dodgers - much appreciated by the teachers). Oh dear. And more waffle - I'm good at preparing and serving that.

LOL I think dates are the last thing on earth that I would/could be naughty with - unless hidden in a sticky toffee puding :)

lol my lad loves ates must put them on the shopping list ....dont worry hun you will soon amend !!!

Morning!

Boring PP day here

B - porridge
L - omelette
D - pork steaks (not PP meat but forgot when I took them out of the freezer last night so will have to do) with fromage blanc/mustard

Lots of coffee, tea and water.

Still expecting an increase on scales tomorrow morning despite very restrictive diet yesterday and today but I'll worry about that in January as I want to enjoy my Christmas pud (and the rest).

Signing off until after Monday (unless I can squeeze in a couple of minutes tomorrow morning to weigh in) so Happy Christmas to all, eat, drink and be merry and hope you all have a great time.
