Couch to 5k challenge

I have found that in some ways it gets easier. Week one sessions seemed interminable! I really do trust in the plan. Biggest challenge is mental mostly. Was dreading week five run three but it was fine. Keep up great work

Yikes!!! I hadn't noticed that one yet!!!! :eek: I think you're right though that the biggest challenge is mentally. I too thought week 1 with so many runs was the hardest & actually have enjoyed week 3 the best so far so fingers crossed :)

Well done, sweet Pink....I think that I liked each week more as I went along (more or less), so hopefully the same will be true for you. From Week Five on there are three separate pod-casts for each of the three runs. The plan works! Today I did Week 6 Run 3 which was running for 25 minutes. I couldn't have done that a few weeks ago! And yes it's a slog but you do it and then you hear those lovely words "That's it!" and you know you're finished and you've achieved something. x
 
Hiya, I'm pleased to find this thread. I started the Couch to 5K app having never run in my life before, and am on week 3, day 3 today. I use a treadmill at the gym, and am surprising myself each time with my progress.

Well, I just completed week 4 day 1! I went to the gym feeling like I didn't want to even try as it seemed far beyond anything I have done before, but my daughter encouraged me and I did it. Having am episode of Jeremy Kyle on the tv I'm front of me helped (not a programme I would choose to watch as a general rule). I became fascinated with an argument between 2 young men who both ended each phrase with the word "innit" and who were accusing each other of burgling each others' houses. I have no clue if either was right, but it got me through my run so I'm really happy :D

Lilyinthe valley, I'm around the same stage as you. I'm hoping to do week 4 day 1 this evening. I'm quite excited about doing it... well hoping I can do it!!! :eek:

Hi Guys, I am thinking about doing this but it seems like it will be impossible! I have been going to the gym and running for one minute then walking for 4 the running again for the minute (I do that cycle for 20 mins). It seems to take me 4 minutes to recover! Is it really manageable to have the 90 seconds to recover?

I am a weed and need convincing!

Also, any other gym goers noticed people that other people are really light on their feet on the treadmill? I feel like its soooo loud when i am jogging!

Hendopig, just go for it. It's seems like a massive challenge at the beginning but it really works, it has for all of us. Just believe in the plan and push yourself to do as u are told on the app and you'll be fine!

Having not run for 12 days I went out again tonight. W4D3 - I did not manage the second 5 minute run at all! I probably should have started at W3 again but at least I restarted and I did manage the first 5 minute run.

I also managed to delete my C25K app so had to down load it again, unfortunatly that meant I lost all my data showing my journals and run details.

I will get to W9 and I will complete this plan!

Hendopig, just go for it! I had never run a step before doing this, it is only 3 weeks since I had to ask my daughter how to use the treadmill, and today I completed w4d1. And yes, I do worry that my feet sound like elephants' feet when I'm running lol! :D

hendopig, honestly just give it a go. I never in a million years would I have thought I could do this & now not only am I doing this but I'm loving it. I actually miss it on my non running days. Every week I have looked ahead to the next week & thought I would struggle & each week I surprise myself (long may that continue) This week I actually enjoyed the run without wondering how much longer til I could walk!!! :eek:

Lilyofthevalley, I'm planning on going out tomorrow night to do W4D2 so fingers crossed :)
