Daisybell's collection of top tips to success.

The support group I set up is working well. Everyone is motivated and sharing ideas including ways to get rid of those damned chocolate bunnies that keep appearing!

Best used of Easter choc I've heard is melt it down and make tray bake toppings or krispycakes then share them out at work. Even if you don't give them out it's harder to eat a lot at one time when they are cakes etc.

Not much of a plan I know but every little helps. Hope you're having a good day. :)

That would just about finish me off! Traybakes and chocolate. They would never get out of the house alive. Luckily I am on my own over Easter as OH in UK. Friend who gives me chocs is in the US so should be OK

Feeling fantastic today as Sunday is WI day for me. I can't believe that I have lost 3 lbs. There are two things I can put this down to:

First I have stuck to plan 100%. Stayed within 5 - 9 syns each day. Had mainly green days as I don't feel full on a red day.

Second I have done a week of kettlebells (as a newbie) The muscle soreness has been horrible but I have persevered. I actually enjoy the program, it's the after effects that get me! The good thing is that I have plenty of room to up the anti - do a full minute for each move as opposed to the 45 seconds I barely manage at the moment. I can do more 50 minute sessions per week and ultimately I can increase the weight from 4 to 6 kg. Not that I can even visualize that happening at the moment!

Really encouraged. It's true that success breeds success. The more I lose, the more motivated I am to stick to it and do well.

Thanks Purple Patsy. I am beginning to feel different now.

Today I made hot cross buns to take to two friends - one lunch and one dinner. Am very proud of myself as I have only eaten one small one and no chocolate eggs or bunnies. When I got home there was one x bun left and I was just about to eat it when another friend texted me to say she had left her xbun behind. I quickly offered her the last one, which I can now not eat. How good is that! The timing was perfect.

Wonderful day today at Vienna Zoo. Walked part of the way there and three hours on my feet whist there. Was ravenous when I got home so thank goodness I didn't have any chocs in the house. If its there I eat it. Have two boiled eggs cooking in a curry sauce. Homemade so I know what has gone in it. Can smell it in here...mmmmm

Well done with the 3lb loss :) i'm having a week of cutting carbs down, not cutting them out completely though, I don't like red days but going to do them more this week see if it helps me lose anymore. If that doesn't work, going to have to trying cutting the syns down again, even though it didn't work last time.

I wanted to go to the zoo today, but its raining and nasty so we didn't bother.

Hi Ally

I agree with you about red days. I never seem to feel full on them and end up scouting round for snacks. I prefer the green days where you get the extra Healthy extras!

I find that I am eating a lot more now than I ever did before SW but I do stick to plan almost 100% and usually only have about 6 syns a day. I fill up on pasta and couscous but eat huge amounts of veg and fruit. On average I have ten a day instead of the five a day recommended in the UK. I don't have access to things like Muller light yogurts so use fat free Greek yogurt as my staple.

Bearing in mind what I said above, could it be that you are not eating enough? I love the fact that you menu plan each day and I too find that helps keep me on track. What I can't get my head around is the unlimited "bits" and to begin with I kept having to ask if it would work!

it's great that you have started walking more. Do you really push yourself? I bought myself some Nordic walking sticks and found that I could walk further for longer with them. Makes me feel a bit more athletic!!!! But appears to work. I have also recently taken up kettlebells. First week nearly killed me but I am now starting to get the hang of it and love it. It feels as if I am really burning fat, which is what it is supposed to do but I don't have to do the Zumba type level of activity.

Stick with it - every person's metabolism is different and they say that a slow loss is more likely to stay off, which is what you want in the long run.

Today is another day!

Why do holiday periods take us off track? I have been really good on the chocolate bunny avoidance mission but have found myself craving other foods instead (all the bad ones of course) the craving gets so bad that I am in and out of the fridge all day. Ate my full Philly allowance yesterday - usually I mix the Philly light with quark and have this on crispbread but yesterday all I wanted was the creamy taste - nothing else would do. Must focus again.

My online subscription ends this week so I plan to use my diary to food plan. I like the fact that the SW food diary breaks the food into free, healthy extras and syns. Seeing it written down helps me keep the right proportions. It is more a list of ingredients than a menu and as a keen hobby chef that gives me the flexibility to create dishes with what I have in. I love to cook for others so perhaps my diary will allow me to be a virtual chef?

I probably don't eat enough to be honest. I do eat until i'm satisfied but that doesn't take a lot. And i do push myself with walking but only being able to do it at weekends doesn't help.

Today is the day when I start to post my food diary on here instead of online SW.

Free foods: Fat free Greek yogurt, quark, apple, strawberries, melon, carrot, broccoli stalk, onion, spinach, peppers, tomatoes, cauliflower, potato, couscous.
HEX a : Philly light, skimmed milk
HEX b: 2 crisp breads, cooked rhubarb
Syns: 1 square of dark chocolate, spoonful of jam, 2 sponge fingers

So today I plan to have:

Breakfast: Fruit salad and yogurt ( working breakfast but I am providing the food).
Snack: crispbreads with Philly and jam
Lunch: Spinach and broccoli soup, raspberry yog icecream
Snack: hot chocolate drink and apple
Dinner: Aloo gobi, green beans, stuffed peppers, rhubarb fool.

Hopefully you can see how this works for me. I take the ingredients and make a menu from them. Minimal waste and I get to eat what is in season. Cant wait for the asparagus - it is in supermarkets so should be on the market soon ;)

As you can see I am eating masses of food and still losing weight. I love this diet! Sorry "healthy eating plan"

Food sounds Yummy :)

Thank you. I adore cooking so have been trying to get creative. I do change things as I go along so for example I omitted the stuffed peppers and had more aloo gobi ( cauliflower rand potato) I love Indian food and it works perfectly for Slimming World.

I have a sweet tooth so struggle to find things to satisfy that. Cannot buy muller lights here so rely on making my own concoctions. Yesterday I bought some lady finger biscuits and made a tiramisu. Delish. 3 fingers (3 syns) soaked in strong black coffee and a splash of brandy (1 syn) topped off with Philly light (HEXa) and fat free Greek yogurt. Sprinkling of options chocolate drink and hey presto a pretty good substitute for an Italian dessert. Shared with a friend so 2 syns total.

Today is weigh in day for my support group. Do this in kilos. Feel positive about my progress this week. Combination of staying on plan ( even the hot cross bun came within syn allowance) and really giving kettlebells a go.

I also weigh on a Sunday in stones and lbs. Two weekly weigh ins work for me because I dont convert from lbs to kilos. Therefore I get a sense of continually losing even if there are daily fluctuations in my weight. Might be an option for any of you serial weighers?

My food diary for today

Free foods: egg, fat free Greek yogurt, fat free natural yogurt, tomatoes, baked beans, peppers, cauliflower, green beans, lettuce, pickled onion, apple, strawberries, grapes
Heathy X. Milk, Philly light(a) 2 crispbreads, cooked rhubarb (b)
Syns. Sugar free jelly,(1) square 70% cocoa chocolate, (2) teaspoon honey (1)

Menu plan

Breakfast : fried egg ( dry) grilled tomatoes and beans
Snack: Apple and grapes
Lunch: salad and stuffed peppers, strawberry yogurt icecream
Snack: Cruspbreads, Philly and honey
Dinner: Piperade ( eggs, pepper, potato, tomato) green beans and cauliflower. Rhubarb in orange jelly with yogurt.
Snack: Hot chocolate drink

OK so thats sponge finger bickies and Philly light on the shopping list for tomorrow cos this has just got to be made. Thanks for that.

I assume you've done SW style Eton mess. Crushed meringue, fruit. (usually strawbs but I'm not picky) quark or 0% greek yog white choccy options Think that the options could be left out or subbed with other makes if you like. Mix options and yog/quark layer up ingredients in pretty dish and YUMMY. Think that's about 2 syns a go too.

As you're such a good cook you'll probably come up with fab adjustments so keep me posted. :)

The eton mess sounds gorgeous. Will have to give it a try. I suppose Pavlova would work with Greek yogurt too. I can't get the options chocolate here but I don't think that would affect the taste too much.

Today's food

Free foods : tomato, peppers, red cabbage, carrot, onion, apple, rhubarb, mushrooms, raspberries, cauliflower, eggs, quark, fat free Greek yogurt, pork, mackerel

HEx.: ryvita x 2, Philly cheese, milk,

Syns: chocolate (2) jelly(1) balsamic (1) smoked mackerel (3)

Breakfast: egg Piperade left from last night (oven baked omelette with veg in

Snack: Ryvita and Philly

Lunch: red cabbage coleslaw with balsamic vinegar, raw mushrooms, smoked mackerel

Dinner: Pork steak, cauliflower, braised red cabbage. Raspberry yogurt

Hot chocolate drink

Went to the market this morning and bought a kilo of mushrooms (huge bag) so will be looking for inspiration what to cook. Also have a kilo of cherry tomatoes so will oven dry some of those. Makes them so sweet they really do taste like a fruit.

Am trying to resist the temptation to bake some cupcakes. I am going for a drink tonight to celebrate a friend's birthday and would love to make her a little cake. Maybe I can reduce the proportions and do something very small. Temptation, temptation.......

you can make cupcakes for about 3/4 syns, if you replace sugar with sweetener, but even with sugar i think when i made cupcakes they were only 5 syns each anyway.

That sounds amazing when a curly whirly is 6. Wonder if it includes the butter icing? Will have to experiment and create the lowest syn version I can. Will report back
