Indeed :D

I hope your work will allow you your year off. My work place is pretty funny about that - they call it a career break. You have to tell them exactly what youre doing, not allowed to work anywhere else at all and you have to work 2 weeks during that year for them when they want!!!

Wow Mary!! What exciting news. You are going to move over there. Good for you. I'd love to do something like that but my OH would not want it at all! I hope it all works out for you and that you will have great happiness from it.

Welcome back Mary (even though I know you don't want to be here). Your plan sounds so exciting, not jealous at all!! I agree with everybody else, if you can do it, do it! What an experience. Trouble is, you wont want to come back after that year!

Glad you've had a great holiday and how exciting!

Thanks everyone, we really are both motivated about it now, I need to start making enquiries with British Consulate and seek medical advice on medication. I have a prescription that I need to take every day, so I dont know how I can get those etc.

Also pensions etc to look into, renting the house out for a year etc etc, so much to think about, but really exciting.

Food wise - started really good this morning with porridge/banana, lunch was salad and 2 boiled eggs with ryvita, then it all went to pot.

3 bags of Worcester sauce crisps.
1 caramel kitkat
1 mint kitkat
1 orange kitkat

2 new potatoes with melted lurpak and chopped spring onions.
2 packs of chewy Turkish sweets, similar to opal fruits.
1 tangerine.
2 slices of white bread spread with lurpak and raspberry jam.

On the vodka now, so no doubt there will be something else to eat later.

Holiday mode definitely gone after today, back to work tomorrow - thank goodness!

Ooooh mary i am excited for you but it does seem alot to sort out so get on it woman! Least it should keep you busy and keep you away from the munchies :giggle:

Thank you for the birthday wishes girlies. Well I had a fantastic time once again in Icmeler. I had a great Birthday with two cakes! Gorgeous they were too - well I did have to sample both!

We are contemplating renting out our house and moving over there for a year, to see how things go, but its still at the early stages yet, but we are looking to have everything finalised before the end of the year.

Well there was an earthquake while we were there, it measured 4.1 on the richter (SP) scale, and it happened about 3:30am. Well guess what girlies.........yes I was still awake, we were staying up to await the arrival of some friends, and guess what again - we never felt a thing. I think the Turkish Vodka is a wonderful thing hahahahaha.

We didnt know anything about it until the next day!

The holiday was another wonderful one and we cant wait to return again in another 50 days. We had a look at some apartments while we were there, and for what you get and the price, its just too good to miss.

We visited a few places we had not been to before, Sarigerme, which has a wonderful beach with glorious white sands, and Asparan (sp) which is a restaurant up in the hills, this was lovely.

I have not weighed, but I would imagine about half a stone has gone on, the usual.........lol. I will be weighing on Friday.

I cant say its nice to be back, because my heart is still in Turkey. I just love that place. I did find it a little too hot though, but the swimming pool was always a welcome place to be next to.

Last Thursday was the Turkish night at the hotel, and everyone was really warm, and the boss whispered to me, to push a couple of the waiters into the swimming pool, as we did the Turkish dance around the pool, and I did oblige......but yeah, you guessed, I got chucked in as well. Within the next 5 minutes, nearly everybody who was there was in the swimming pool fully clothed.........what a great and unexpected night.

Oh well, back to reality now and back to work on Tuesday night.

I will try and catch up with some of the threads, but if I dont reply to them all, I will try again tomorrow.

Oh, waw Mary!! I think your heart is well and truly in Turkey sweet, so you may as well try it...nothing ventured, nothing gained. Will work keep your job open? If someone else has asked, sorry,,,I havent had chance to read through all the posts, just saw this one!!

Keep us all posted, but how exciting is that!!!!

Glad you enjoyed the holiday though :)

So how have you got on today Mary? Have the munchies left the building?? ;) xx

Iris, I will see my Manager next week and see how they will react to me having a year off, but I dont know if it has been done before, so I will let you know.

Jan, yes its good to get back to normality again, food wise it has been good today.

Breakfast, bacon grilled with fat removed, half a tin of tomatoes, 1 poached egg, mushrooms grilled.

Dinner, Smoked river cobbler, carrots, leeks.

Supper, (nightshift) Egg salad. Greek yogurt, frozen berries, honey, teaspoon of porridge oats.

Now, putting spanner in the works here....just asking another question. What will happen if they say NO to your request? Would that put a different slant on things and you going over? Or would you just say, oh well, still going anyway?????? Just wondering :)

Hope it works out though, I really do, although, dont forget you are used to being there for holidays and being in holiday mode, it will be a bit different just living over there and just doing day to day things. What will you do when you are there? Will you just holiday, or will you do something else? I know 1001 questions here :)

I am sure you will do a lot of investigation beforehand though, and thinking of you!!

You seem to have got back into the swing of healthy eating as well!! That's our Mary!!!!! :)

All the questions i wana know the answers to also! :giggle: Im just a nosy parker!! :rotflmao:

If they say no to my request, then we would probably still go, the year out is just as a safe-guard incase we didnt settle, at least I would have a job to come back to, but if that cant be, then its a chance I would be willing to take, and hopefully be able to find another job.

We wouldnt be living like we do on holiday, it would just be a normal lifestyle, up in the morning, cleaning, cooking etc, shopping, but probably walking a lot more. We couldnt afford to be living like Kings and eating out etc. Its just more for a more kinder lifestyle, nicer weather (although it rains heavy in Winter) no driving to work in the frost/snow. Just a little more laid back and relaxing.

Sorry I didnt get back online last night, but I had a load of stuff to catch up with in work.

Bed most of today and got up around 2pm.

Breakfast - Porridge made with half milk, half water. 1 small banana.
Snack - 2 ryvita with a scraping of jam.
Lunch - Home made lentil soup. Pear, Tangerine.
Supper - 4 ryvita, half a tin of tuna mixed with ELF Mayo, sweetcorn, onion. Berries, Greek yogurt, 1 teaspoon of honey, 1 teaspoon of oats.

Snack - Tangerine.

Sounds like you're dead set on going :) I'm soooo jealous! :giggle: I really hope work don't refuse your request so will keep :fingerscrossed: for you. Be sure not to forget us when you get out there ;) hehe

Food looking grand today girl :) xxx

Regarding the other thing ... I'm saying nothing ...... *****sticks nose in air***** NOT JEALOUS ..... HONEST!!!!!

:giggle: :D xxxx

I hope it all comes off, we are both really excited about this now.

Just ate my supper, so I have my tangerine left for later on. Got a few things to do in work again tonight, so I might not be back on until tomorrow girlies.

Enjoy the rest of your evening Mary - if you can :) xxx

follow your dreams!! I always say we have one shot at this life and we have to do what we want...cant take it with us I suppose, so may as well enjoy what we have here! And, I hope it works out for you both, I really do!!!!!

I long to retire there, which is what we will do and live in the holiday home....mortgage free and with sunshine at least from April to October..I can cope with the rest, even if it does rain :) It's the sunshine we all miss - eh!

Understand when you say having a kinder life...so true!

Will it be an apartment you go for or a house?? I am only thinking, if it is a house, you could grow veggies!!!! The green peppers grow a treat out there....OH's uncle grows them in the garden! ;-)!! haha.....oh, and tomatoes, and you can get a satuma tree, pomegranate tree, vine!! Oh, list is endless.......I will come and be your gardner for the year ;-)!

Looking forward to the updates...so excited for you.

Iris, ever the farmer ;) :giggle: x

I've got my fingers and everything else crossed for you too Mary and also wait for the updates with bated breath!! :D xx
