Dinkie Dawnies Dubious Diary of Downsizing, Deflation, and Debauchery

Evening peeps x :wavey:

Yay!!! I love Friday nights!!! Sitting here with a full belly, just finished my wine, rugby on the TV, cuddled up with hubbs & minis! Perfect! :bliss:

It was a busy day at work today. Actually we started out quite quiet but the the General went on red alert (no free beds in the hospital) so it all went a bit manic! And to top it all, I had to send the barriatric vehicle (for obese patients who can't fit on a normal stretcher or ambulance) to an emergency out of town so all the work I had planned for them went out the window!

Highlight of the day was, as always, lunch with Sarah, who wasn't too grumpy at all today! :D

Surprise of the day was a super text from the lovely Penny...great to hear from you Penny and I hope you're not too full of pizza and cake lol!

Most embarrassing part of the day...when Sarah and I were having coffee near the outpatients dept, a guy on crutches with his legs all bandaged up went past us to use the phone. When he picked the receiver, he knocked the phone off the table...when he bent down to pick the phone up he dropped the receiver...& when he tried to pick the whole thing up he dropped his crutches!!!

Of course, Sarah and I being the caring responsible people we are...burst out laughing! :rotflmao: Tears were streaming down our faces! Luckily some bloke ran over to him and picked everything up for the old boy cos us two were next to useless lol!!! :ashamed0005:

So that's about it for me today :D Hope you're all enjoying your Friday night too! :party0019:

you two are just so helpful :giggle: :giggle: lol

Kettering sent Paula home early as they desperately needed her bed for an emergency :( shes fine here though, very white and tired but seems fine and they are checking her at 10am tomorrow :)
xxxxxx

Hi Jackie,

Well I'm glad she's home with you but it's awful that she had to leave so someone else could take her bed :( It's just so frustrating  And it's not uncommon for us to re-admit patients because of being discharged too early.

You're doing a fabulous job looking after Paula Jackie. It must be such a relief for her to know someone cares for her and worries about her xxx

I was shocked when she first said they'd had to send her home early as desperate for her bed but having seen how cramped it was and not even a nice ward shes better off here :D I feel happier as I can keep an eye and know shes comfy, okay house a tip again as Charlie has untidied for me :giggle: but its a home.

Shes very very pale today and tired, so I didn't do any work as wanted to keep an eye, but think its the infection , antibiotics and a build up of lost sleep due to the awful pain she was in.

Its very sad though that they do have to send people home like that and some get readmitted, I guess thats bound to happen :(

meant to say well done on STS

Shall be thinking of your lovely family on the 13th and hpe all goes well :bighug: xxxxx

I've no doubts Paula will come on in leaps and bounds with you keeping an eye on her Jackie xxx You're just what that poor girl needs, love, care, stability, and some good home cooked meals inside her to build her up to help fight this infection :gen126:

Thanks for thinking about mum hunni, it means a lot that you remember :thankyou:

Well I thought we were exceedingly, ummm, helpful.
Anyway, I'd already done my bit, with that lady whose pound wouldn't go in the drinks machine.

A good laugh brightened my lunch time, anyway.

And Ros passed her theory test too - so that was really good.
AND I got out not long after I said I would. So not too bad a day at all, really.

Now to try & get my head round some stuff, so that maybe I can have that stab at getting back on plan next week.

I said maybe.
You never know.

Have a good weekend, all.

Well done Ros!!!

And Sarah...'maybe' is fine...better than 'never' but not quite as good as 'will' x

But the biggie in all of this is 'want' x

When you're ready, I'll be waiting with my new boots and whip lol...!!! :whip:

I think you might need to buy another wardrobe to store all your new clothes in.

It's getting a bit out of hand now Tilly!!!

I've really got the clothes bug now...

Especially the charity shop clothes bug lol! ;)

At least you can fit twice as many clothes in, now there half the size, at least i hope it works like that lol ;) xx

Heya Dawn,

Been a long time so apologies for that - Just been catching up with you.

Poor Suki - Hope she's ok and the incident hasn't set her back too much. Dogs can be so horrible to each other. Sending her a virtual bone for her to chew on and replacements for the doggy first aid kit!

Congratulations on Staying at Target!
:happy096:

And all the New clothes that you really do deserve so for all that hard work :) and you can Warrant every single purchase of clothes by the fact that they shall now fit you for life so really it's an investment!! :D and also you really don't want to gain so they don't fit you again so it's a wardrobe full of motivation too! :p

Found that story really funny - I think all I would have been able to do is sit and laugh too!!

Hey stranger! Great to hear from you! Thanks for those lovely comments x

So that's another one in the 'caring' profession who wudve burst out laughing! What a bad lot we are lol!

I'm loving all these new (or new 2nd hand) clothes in my wardrobes! But I still take ages deciding what to wear! Good job I wear a uniform to work!

Take care, enjoy yr bonfire party tonight and watch out for those jumping burgers...;)

I shall not forget as she goes in on Matt's birthday :) I shall be thinking of you sweetie :bighug:

Paula definately needs some home cooked meals. I thought I could show her how to make a few simple healthy things like omelette etc so she can have the odd decent meal when goes home. Shes likely to eat here several times a week anyway so at least I know on those days she will eat well then too.

Good idea Jackie. Teach her a few basics that her mother was obviously far too busy or uninterested to do.

Paula really landed on her feet with you hun...doesn't bear thinking about what cudve happened if u hadn't been about x I think she'll be very sorry to leave u, and it sounds as if your daughter has really bonded with her too. I wonder if Paula might be able to help in some way re her insecurities about school? Xx It would make Paula feel useful, like she's paid u back for your kindness, and your daughter may just open up to her? Xx

Lots of love xxx

thats quite possible Dawn :) they get on very well. Even Carla likes Paula :giggle:

Matt and Paula have had an on off relationship for over 2 years probably nearer 3, but this time its working so in a way I really hope it does. At one point they were far from good for each other but I thnk alot of it was Matt's jealousy caused by his insecurities if you know what I mean. But hes getting better and they do seem happy.

IF I had abit bigger house and a second bathroom I'd consider her moving in but I dont. I actually feel bad not offering, but for the time being would prefer a) to help when I can b) even if its the odd tenner here and there or a food package she can use. I'll just keep an eye on her and see how it goes.

Maybe Paula might take Charlie the odd morning for me and see how she is? If charlie lets her that is you just never know with kids do you?

I keep looking at your photos. Its amazing Dawn, you've done so well :D you really are an inspiration to others xxxxx

Aww bless ya Jackie...thats such a lovely thing to say x.
I spent a wk wrestling with myself as to whether I should put the pics on, as I didn't want to be seen as blowing my own trumpet iykwim? But then part of me thought I got so much inspiration from looking at other peoples before and after pics, maybe someone might do the same from mine? It was funny tho cos I deleted them twice after putting them on cos I was really was unsure how theyd be received x

I don't think you're in a position to take Paula on full time hun. You have quite enough going on thankyou with more immediate members of your family lol! Not to mention the lovely Carla! You've done more than ANYone else and Im sure Paula appreciates it...I hope so anyway! As soon as she's on the mend, I'd tell her you could really do with her help on a very sensitive matter, and then take it from there. You never know...? Xx

Hope the stitches came out without too much trouble x

Hiya Dawn,
