Dinkie Dawnies Dubious Diary of Downsizing, Deflation, and Debauchery

Thank you so much DDDD, work that one out !!!

The magazine and the wonderful soup book arrived today.

I can not wait to make some of the soups. I love chilled soup in the summer so will be trying some of those recipes when it is warmer and loads of the hot ones now. I always keep homemade stock in the freezer. It makes soup making so easy.

The magazine is brilliant. I have abandoned all plans of sorting out my garden pots in favour of reading the mag. Harriet Jenkins who has lost over 14 stones looks bloomin amazing.

I think they have arrived in the nick of time..............in time to save me from myself.

Thank you darling daughter.

Daddy Paul sends you a big hug.

xxxxxxxx

Dawnie - the extended tattoo looks amazing.

Naughty mumsie - get back to those pots! and put the magazine down!

Look at you! Stop making me jealous with tattoos! Can't believe you have had more added to it already then again my OH did say you would get addicted for once he was right ;) xx

Helloooooo!!!

Sitting here with a bit of a sore back!!! All self inflicted of course lol!

As you will have seen from Sarah's earlier post, I had my tattoo extended today by a couple of flowers :p And I'm loving it lol! It's a bit sore but no worse than it was a couple of weeks ago, and so I'm hoping to not have too much trouble with it. The only problem I had was that I was wearing jeans and the waistband was rubbing on the lower flower and making it a bit painful, & my bra was rubbing the top one,so instead of spending the afternoon wandering round the shops and then getting my nails done I came home to change into some comfy leggings and take my bra off! But not until I'd had lunch with Shrinking Sarah :eating:

Morning!

Ooh chickpea cake, what is this? I'm intrigued.

I feel for Shirley I really do. She has had a horrific year really but you're doing the right things. Does she like doing any sport? Walking the dog or swimming? Something which she enjoys but can release some happy endorphins. Does she have any local coffee morning groups? Could she volunteer to do coffee and make friends that way. Then she'll feel she has more of a purpose in life. As you know I have witnessed my Mum slip down the slope of depression over the years and it's tough, real tough. But if it can be treated in the early stages then that's obviously half the battle won. Its good that she will talk to you because talking is important therapy in itself.

Sending big hugs to you both. I hope life picks up for Shirley and obviously yourself.

Well my 3G isn't great on the motorway so will try post this before I lose it all.

Have a lovely day x

Aww thank you Penny for such a thoughtful post x

Shirley has joined an over 60's club and has made quite a few friends there, which is a good start. They do trips out, hold art classes and have speakers etc but obviously it's only once a week. So I've spoken to the children tonight and told them I expect them to play a bigger part in her life by visiting, helping out with jobs or even taking her out. Just so she has some company and somewhere to go. We've also said we'll take her to Norwich to see her mum, just hope it's not as upsetting as the last time. Thanks so much for the advice Penny xxx

The chickpea cake is an acquired taste... but I've managed to acquire it a bit too well lol! You shouldn't really have it too much as it could constitute food abuse but I think if you're sensible, and don't eat the whole bleddy thing in one day like |I did , you should be ok!

Chickpea Cake

½ Syn on Green & Extra Easy plan for the Whole Cake * see foot note*

1 tin chickpeas

3 eggs

2 oz sweetener

1 tsp baking powder- ½ syn

Juice and grated rind of 1 lemon

Pre-heat oven to gas mark 4, line a small cake tin with greaseproof paper and fry-light.

Blend the chickpeas until smooth (you will probably need to add some water to do this), add all other ingredients and mix until smooth.

Transfer into cake tin and cook in oven for approx 40 minutes.

Turn out onto cooling rack and drizzle with lemon and allow to cool.

You can adapt the flavoring to suit...almond essence is nice.

Evening!!

That's good that Shirley has joined a little club but like you say it's only once a week. Could she perhaps meet up for a cuppa with one of the ladies on another day? I definitely think its a good thing encouraging your children to visit. I know with my nan it helps us going round for a cuppa and chin wag. Perhaps they could take her out every now and again for a walk round a park if it's sunny, get an ice cream etc.
Does she like gardening at all? Could you get her interested in making a little patch where she can grow some vegetables? Maybe not the best weather now but will be something for her to do come spring.

As for chickpea cake, mmm. Think I could also have an issue not eating it all. I have that problem with the SW roulade.

Gosh your tattoo has grown. Looks a bit sore in the photo. Hope it's less painful soon and doesn't stop you sleeping.

Are you on holiday this week? Have a good evening (watching recorded pointless with bf here, good job I can multi task hehe)

Xxx

Oh I love Pointless too!

The tat does look sore in the pic but in fairness that was taken within half an hour of it being done so it's to be expected I suppose. I'll put another pic on tomorrow when it's calmed down a bit!

Yes I'm off this week so that's why I thought I'd get it done today. I still may have another flower added but that should only take half an hour and I could even get it done in a lunch break.

We're watching a new programme atm about the london underground...it's quite an eye opener!

We are slightly obsessed with pointless. It's set to record every day! My bf is trying to persuade a friend to go on it with him too!! Ha ha

Hope your tattoo has calmed down now. Does sound like you've got the bug though!!

I saw that London underground programme in an advert but forgot to watch it. My sister was telling me that last week they showed how they had to put a corpse into a cupboard until the undertakers came to take it away. But it couldn't stay on the line because that would mean the tube couldn't run!! Awful!

On my way to work now, train was delayed but I fell asleep so didn't realise. Now yawning my head off trying to wake up. Have a lovely day x

Morning penny xx

Yes it was quite fascinating seeing behind the scenes! I did feel for a lot of the workers as its a bit of a thankless job a lot of the time but they do seem like a happy bunch. And LOADS of passengers fall asleep lol!

How's your brother? Bet mum was over the moon to see him x

Have a great day and don't fall asleep! Xx

I'm sure there weren't as many as 4 syns in that little squirt of dressing that you got.
But I suppose it's as well to be cautious.

What are you up to today, mate?
Still wearing the leggings and lack of, ummm, pebble-holder?
("Boulder" doesn't really apply, does it ? ;))

My brother went out to the pub quiz last night. He used to go every Monday do bet he had fun there and seeing mates. Today I think he is going to see nanny which will make her year definitely. Mum was pretty overwhelmed yesterday. She's been wanting my brother home for ages and it finally happened, albeit for only ten days, but sure she's fussing all over him!!

I am in work an haven't fallen asleep again.....yet!!

That's great Penny x specially for mum and nanny x will they both be ok when he leaves again? I imagine it's a wrench for all of you but bearing in mind how fragile mum is ATM I expect its going to upset her terribly x

Yes I'm dreading next Friday hence why I'm taking the day off and will stay with her. It also coincides with the start of chemo so going to be tough. We will deal with it then though. On Sunday we've got a family do for my brother so just hope mum copes with that. Fingers crossed

Still got the leggings on lol! And big pants so the waistband of the leggings doesn't rub! And a rather loose old "pebble holder" (thank you for that helpful term ;)) so I'm looking absolutely gawjus lol!

Trouble is I really want to get my nails done this morning, and get Petros bday pressie, and treat myself to 2 new tops in Asda so I'm going to just have to cover up as much as poss and hope I don't see anyone I know!

Well.... I do keep having a look at the 'change one letter' game but very rarely get out of the diary section, I read back on yours and a couple of other's diaries as they give me inspiration and help me to understand the principles of SW. I might sound a tad Sycophantic but I means it I do, I really means it I tell ya...

If I could look like you by this time next year I would be very happy........ :flirt2:
