Don't you just hate it when....

Wow, super cheap :)

It was and it was a lovely place too. Real gem of a hotel, I want to go back! X

Amended my post as you quoted it, also paid £30 each way for flights but still a weeks holiday on a Greek island for £119 isn't to be grumbled at! X

Nope, sounds like a very good deal!

I'm not a fan of greece - went a few years ago & whilst the apartment was nice, the resort felt very tacky. I always find when I go to Europe that I spend so much more money on food etc. Also, not a fan of cooking on holiday so self catering does not become the cheap option it could be. I don't mind compromising (i.e a week instead of 2) but honestly would rather go camping than go somewhere I don't really want to go in the 1st place!

Had my heart set on St Lucia!

Some posts are very obviously spam/trolls though. I've reported 30+ almost identical posts in the last few days, Mini replied to one and said its a terrible time of year for it as companies are trying to abuse the system to get links to their products mentioned.

Thank you! I don't appreciate being made to feel bad for trying to keep the spam off the forum!

We're still supposed to be saving up for our 'special trip' but I keep spending money on long haul holidays:rolleyes: so I said to OH next year (2014) we'll have cheap holidays (we have a place in Fuerteventura) & go on our special trip 2015. But I've already run 'the book bus' for 2014 by him!

Talking of camping have you looked at The Sun holidays, the coupons are out soon it could be an option. A few years ago we were very short of money & I wanted a holiday, so collected Sun coupons, & told OH I'd rather be having my tea in the sun on my week off & not sat at home. I told him I was going anyway & I needed a holiday, he saw my way of thinking & we had a brill time, 4 nights in Italy, then train to France were we spent 7 nights, we flew to Italy & euro train back from France. I'm lucky that OH works on the railway & we do get discounted rail travel.

What I also do with OH is plant seeds, so eventually he thinks something is his idea, ermmmmm think you'll struggle with St Lucia though:D

Thing is, St Lucia WAS his idea! Its his dream holiday! I recently won a deal at work and wanted to use the bonus to pay for it, but he has come over all sensible and said I should pay off the credit card instead. I know I SHOULD, but I DON'T WANNA :cry:

I suggested maybe a week in Egypt but he doesn't fancy that due to the disturbances there at the moment. Has anyone been to Turkey and thought it was a nice? I was thinking we could probably get a late deal there for May for a week. That way I could pay off the credit card now and then use it to pay for the ho;liday later on :) That way I'm still doing what he says and getting a bit of what i want :) Sort of......

Where did you go in Greece? Many resorts on the islands are very over-commercialised and way too "egg and chips" for my liking. I live on the mainland, close to Kalamata and tacky is never a word used for this area.

This one is Stoupa bay Stoupa Resort Photo.jpg and this is of the next door village Aghios Nikolaos Agios Nikolaos.jpg

I went to Sidari in Corfu - it was egg & chips & Tina turner tributes! We went to a local restaurant & the fish was all frozen! None of the restaurants had fresh fish - on a bloody island!

I did have some nice Greek food & proper Gyros - though they looked at me weirdly when I didn't want chips in it!

Maybe I should look at some mainland areas. Thanks for the ideas xxxx

Hi Kingleds, us again with hols eh! This time perhaps I could help you. We go to Turkey every year, have been for the last 15 years. What sort of place do you like, ie banging, quiet, family resort, couples????????? Only too pleased to help if I can :)

Just looking through my sun pack now am going to look into their abroad hols this time and just seen they do Italy which I'd love to go to!

Our first Sun holiday was in Italy, it was brill, we flew to Piza & spent the day there, then took the train to where we were staying, but the campsite was about 30mins in a taxi away & it cost a fortune, that said the campsite was brilliant, so clean & lots of amenites & not full of kids. We took a walk up hill to a little village & had a really nice beer & the 'free' food on offer was amazing, just like a little meal. I was really impressed & would love to go back.

Top idea paying of credit card now only to add to it again, if you get 0% on purchases then you're not spending any extra money. Would it be possible to wait until the last minute before booking a holiday & then see how much St. Lucia is & remind him how much he wants to go................................

We've been to Greece & found the accomodation was always basic, but we've always had lovely meals. We've been to Zante (not somewhere I'd go back to), Kefalonia, Stoupa, Thassos (our favourite place, we went back many times).

The egg & chips & Tina Turner tributes bit mande me laugh, I can just imagine it.

Ooh when were you in Stoupa - I may have been your rep

Flippin eck, years ago, poss c1996, it was lovely, just one round in & one road out. I remember all the restaurants were brill. Can't remember who we travelled with, back then we did use travel agents. We stayed just slightly up the hill, there were about 4 'cottages' & we didn't have a pool. All very nice, such lovely holidays.
