When we were in our last rented house, the day before an inspection I walked into the office (which had been newly done out with new fitted furniture ect) to find my little one had drawn in green marker pen all over EVERYTHING!!!!! I mean literally everywhere, all over the chair, the drawers, in the little groves in the pattern on the cupboards, all over the desk!!!! I could have actually cried, (was the only time he ever drew on anything he shouldn't as well)

Luckily with a lot of hard work I managed to get most of it off and then boyfriend used his chemistry skills to work out what we needed to get the rest off, we could still slight marks but think that was just because we knew it was there as it was never picked up on.

I know it was awful, I'd forgotten about it until I saw that post. I think I actually did have a little cry before pulling myself together and getting cleaning. Boyfriend was at work as well, so got the shock all to myself.

No, we managed to get away with it, which was quite funny considering they took money off us for cleaning when we'd cleaned the house from top to bottom before leaving.... I suppose at least that probably wouldn't have been as much as what they would have taken if they'd realised something like that had happened.

DYJHIW you drop the actifry an snapped the lid off!!:mad::mad::mad:

The day before an inspection in my student house I left the Hoover running on the laminate floor in the kitchen and melted it, leaving a huge lumpy square with holes! Me and my housemates decided to cover patch with bags of food shopping and pretended we had just got in, it worked and we managed to persuade friends to relay floor with laminate from shed all for a few pints! So lucky! X

You are kidding!! If my landlord even attempted to take money off us for cleaning i would go mad!! This house is cleaner than it was when we moved in. And i treat it with the same respect and care as if it was my own!! Even with 2 boisterous kids and a large, mad dog!! But they can be sneaky, money grabbing b*stards! I think, Lol!! X

They try to get money everywhere, we were in such a state after moving from that house, we were buying our first house and like idiots trusted the builders and mortgage people that we would be in by a certain date, ended up in a temporary house which was depressing as hell, so when they said about taking the money off our deposit we just didn't have the energy to argue it.

That is shocking hun!! I dont know if you were the same but we have our deposit in a secure holding company that keep the deposit until both sides are happy when leaving!! I suppose that makes me feel a little more secure, and i will be taking pics of the condition i leave this house when we do to prove it is in tip top clean condition, just maybe not of the bronzed carpet lol!! I dont mind paying for any damages that are my fault if any but i wont be ripped off!! Are you all happy and settled in your new house now?? X

thanks everyone. il have to buy a new lid xx

Yeah I think all landlords need to use them now, its def a good idea to take photo's when you leave on a digital camera with a date if possible. We're very happy now thankyou, been in our house a year and a half (moved in July, the night before little ones Birthday so will never forget that lol)
