Down with Spanx!

Thanks Gail - and you're absolutely right. It's nothing that I haven't told myself a thousand times - SW has to be able to fit in with my life and become the way I eat for life. So what if in the big scheme of things I've had a few slow weeks? I haven't put on - and I spent enough years doing that!!!

Today was ok-ish. I had to stop at the motorway services for lunch, on the way back from a meeting. Ordered a baked potato with 'a small portion' of cheese - the guy behind the counter had obviously never heard of 'small'! For once, the food was piping hot, so by the time I'd waited in the queue to pay, all the cheese had melted into my beans...! I did scrape some off, but I have to say that I just (guiltily) enjoyed the rest and decided to count an extra 12 syns (2xHEA) for it!

Monday: Green:
Brekkie: Allbran, activia ff yoghurt
Lunch: Baked potato, beans, cheese (2xHEA and 12 syns)
Snack: Banana
Dinner: Pasta, pesto (2.5 syns), leeks, mushrooms
Snack: ff Yoghurt

Total syns for day: 14.5
Week so far: 40

Had a comfort food day today, of the highest order! I was having a new boiler fitted, so kitchen was a tip and by the time the workmen left, it was late and I was starving. Funny thing is, that before SW, that would have meant a trip to the chip shop for a pie and chips - tonight it meant McCain's rustics and baked beans!

Tuesday: Green
Brekkie: Allbran (HEB), activia ff yoghurt
Lunch: Baked potato, leeks, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, pesto (2 syns), cheese (HEA)
Snack: Banana
Dinner: McCain's rustics (5 syns), baked beans, turkey breast (HEB)

Total syns: 7
So far this week: 47

Well done Spanx. That should be a great feeling for you. Fantastic will power :). I'm impressed !

Thanks Gail and Surreygal! Thought I should update my diary before my weekend away - even though I should be doing my ironing!

Had a reasonable couple of days - tried to keep them pretty low-syn given the weekend that's coming up, but was out at a client's office all day on Weds and they'd put on a buffet. Fortunately, there was pasta salad, so I had that and a salad, but couldn't resist a packet of hula hoops later in the afternoon...

Weds: Green
Brekkie: Magic Porridge (HEB), fruit
Lunch: Pasta salad (tomato and basil, going to allow 3 syns for the dressing), rocket salad (again, it had a little dressing, so going to add 3 syns)
Snack: Hula Hoops (7 syns?)
Dinner: Baked potato, beans, cheese (HEA)
Snack: ff yoghurt

Total syns for day: 13

Thursday: Green
Brekkie: Allbran (HEB), mullerlight, fruit
Lunch: Baked potato, beans, cheese (HEA)
Dinner: Pasta, spag bol (HEB), cheese (HEA)

Syns for day: 0

Week so far: 60

Right, off on girly-weekend tomorrow, so will see you all on Monday! I'm sure it's going to be a syn-ful weekend - will make sensible choices, but am also going to enjoy myself...I can already hear the red wine calling!

Have a great weekend everyone! xxx

WOOHOO!

Had a fab weekend in Jersey and came home to discover this morning that I have lost 2lbs! :D:D:D

I was quite good in Jersey - no puddings, fruit, yoghurt and cereal for brekkie (well, ok, and a croissant one day!) and I tried to make reasonable choices at other times. But I did over-indulge and I did enjoy it!

Oh well dont Spanx!! That's ace news!:D
I take it you still had a great time away :)

Fantastic loss Spanx especially considering a weekend away!!!!!

Fantastic. And that's exactly what life is about - a little bit of what you fancy in moderation and a lot of self control at other times !! Well done - you should be very proud. I'm really pleased for you :)

Total syns for day: 5.5

This weekend I will have been back on SW for 10 months. I re-read my first few posts this morning and it really made me realise how far I've come. Reading about why I hated being so fat and my reasons for wanting to be slimmer have made me see that I have really achieved something! I'm so glad I decided to keep an online diary - it's kept me on the straight and narrow, provided a focus, allowed me to 'meet' some lovely peeps and now it's providing the evidence I need to remind me never to go back to the weight I was. Thanks SW, thanks Minimins and thanks to all the lovely people who have posted in this thread! :D

I've just realised that I've made my annual target! When I started, I set myself a 1lb a week target. I've always lost weight slowly (when I manage to lose it at all!) so I knew 1lb a week would be manageable - and I've managed it in just less than 10 months! Woohoo! :p And no, that doesn't mean that I will be letting myself off for the next 2 months!

Another good day today:

Tuesday: Green
Brekkie: Allbran (HEB), activia ff yoghurt, mixed fruit
Lunch: Baked potato, beans, cheese (HEA)
Snack: Banana
Dinner: Mushy pea curry with chicken (HEB) and mushroom, rice
Snack: KitKat (5.5 syns)

Total syns for today: 5.5
Week so far: 11

Hi Spanx,

Loved your last 2 posts. I am just so pleased for you. I know what you mean about looking back and realising just how much you have achieved. It's fantastic. And you have done brilliantly. Bet you never thought you'd be here 10 months ago having achieved what you have. I know I didn't.

Hopefully the fact that you have taken your time to get to target is a good thing and will (a) give your body time to adjust and (b) mean that you completely ingrain this new way of eating and new way of life which will mean that when you get to target you are able to maintain easily :)

Well done you :D

Thanks Gail - I'm feeling so good at the moment I really need to write it all down to help through those difficult days! :D

My NSV for today is that I made a small Dime bar (7.5 syns and worth every one!) last for over half an hour! Pre-SW it would have lasted four bites, if that, but I nibbled it like a hamster and enjoyed it all the more! :D

Wednesday: Green
Brekkie: Allbran (HEB), activia ff yoghurt, mixed fruit
Lunch: Baked potato, beans, cheese (HEA)
Dinner: Pasta, chicken (HEB), leeks, mushrooms, courgettes, red pesto (2.5 syns)
Snack: Dme bar (7.5 syns)

Total for day: 10 syns
Week so far (well, not including the weekend!) 21

Thanks Surreygal! x

I am feeling great this week - I've taken some time to look back over the last 10 months and celebrate what I've achieved. I was away last weekend and I felt so much better in myself. I no longer felt like the odd one out with my slim girlfriends, didn't worry about being the biggest (although I still am, by quite a way!) and managed to control my eating and drinking, despite deciding to have an off-plan weekend.

I really feel like this is it for me, I can follow this plan for the rest of my life!

Now, I've got 9 months to reach my final target - that will require a loss of just under 1lb a week from now to then - and for the first time, I feel like I'm going to get there!

I don't think I really thought I would ever reach the target I'd set myself - I couldn't see myself getting to that weight. But having seen so many success stories on this site and having stuck to this for 10 months already, I finally believe that I can get there!

Spanx you have done fantastic over the past 10 months & reading about your journey has really spurred me on. I have no doubt you will get to your ultimate target & enjoy every second of being there when you do x

Thanks Sweet! I'm already enjoying the 'half-way there' me, so goodness only knows how it will feel to reach target!

WI in the morning and I've a feeling that my blow-out tonight will affect the result! Keep thinking I should change my WI day from Saturday, as I'm usually out on a Friday night as my son is at his Dad's!

Hi Spanx,

You and I often run similar hours...........................!

Sounds like you have had a good week. You may well be right about the curry and syn night affecting weigh in tomorrow (oops !) however in the long run it all works out so it won't actually matter. However if you feel like a change, try Sundays and join the Sunday weighers thread. We are a great bunch - I'm sure you will love us :p

And well done Sweet. You have done brilliantly too. You must be feeling amazing :)

Gail x

Spanx, it is always inspiring to read your diary. You don't do dramatic plans and falling ceremoniously off the wagon, you are tenacious and committed and change little things to make a big difference in the long run. I think it is amazing how much you hav elost, but more than that, that you don't put on, take off, put on. It is just brilliant- keep up the inspiring work and I ma very glad you appreciate the journey you have been on- cos you have been a star!

I can't even think about how amazing it will feel to hit target :D

Why don't you change your weigh in day? I changed mine from a tuesday to a friday to give myself more time to get rid of that sunday night chinese takeaway even though it was still within syns!!!;)
