Consolidation Dukandebut's Trying to Stay the Same Diary

Doesn't your cat get the spiders DD? (What is your name by the way!!??)

My cats love spiders. They watch them with great fascination. When the spiders stop, they receive a gentle prod to make them move again. Or sometimes not such a gentle prod, resulting in a sad cat who wonders why their new toy has stopped working.

Why oh why can't I have cats who EAT spiders!;)

And my name is Sue. :) How do you do, and very nice to meet you. :D

Busy day spring cleaning, moving back into our bedroom and spraying flea/mite killer in the upstairs rooms (we have two very allergic cats).

But today does have its consolations as it's Burger Day - otherwise known as PV day:

B Yoghurt with apple juice
L Chargrilled aubergine soup, sandwich made with meatloaf and gherkin, followed by yoghurt
D Galette, burger, grilled onions, homemade ketchup, gherkin, cheese. Would have been followed by a crème au chocolat, but I didn't have time to make any.

Put on 1lb this week, which is a relief. I think this might probably have been "helped" by doing very little actual exercise over the last fortnight as I've been too busy.

Gala meal and PV day today:

B Yoghurt with oatbran, apple juice
L Meatloaf and gherkin sandwich, yoghurt
D (gala 1) Scotch pie, potato cake, mixed root veg mash, broccoli and gravy, followed by a chocolate brownie.

Just very quickly popping in to post today's menu. Still spring cleaning and sorting stuff out like crazy at the moment!

PV:

B Yoghurt with oatbran, apple juice
L Cheese, spring onion and mushroom omelette, yoghurt
D Chicken stuffed with mushroom, tarragon, courgette and leek, served with mashed roasted butternut squash and balsalmic roast tomatoes, followed by crème au chocolat

Pleased to meet you too Sue:D (That doesn't sound right!!)
I must try that aubergine soup - perhaps tonight when visitors have gone! I have been trying very hard all weekend no to look as though my eating habits are too bizarre:D

The hot tub is now hot and very nice even if it is only an inflatable one! I can't wait to get out there again but totm so don't really want to get in it today especially with visitors! Maybe after work tomorrow!

My cats play with the bugs/flies/spiders then eat them which is quite handy!

Oh no DD - thank goodness you're ok! It brings back memories of our first house. The plumber had finished our central heating and we were in bed that night when there was the most almighty crash. OH leaped out of bed. I followed at a more leisurely pace, only to find him standing on the stairs stark naked with his finger in the end of a water pipe and half the living room ceiling on the floor:D It was a bit like the little boy with his finger in the dyke. Oh what a sight:D
Do you have a photo? ;)

As for trying to hide one's weird eating habits from family and friends, that side of the diet did wind me up to the extent that I found myself wolfing chicken at strange moments in the kitchen rather than have to confess to "mind hunger" late in the evening when I'd had far more dinner (quantity wise) than everyone else had!

In fact, one day, my father asked me "how much weight have you gained so far? It's hardly surprising I ended up with an eating disorder actually!!

ooooh DD... the work is underway... and I'm so pleased to see that you've piled a pound on! ;)

Glad you didn't get hit in the head and the takeaway was good.

The tiny jellyfish are the worst things in aus(though a 6ft shark swam past me once).

Lucky you, with the hot tub and the insect-eating felines - I envy you on both counts!

They really don't understand about this dieting business, do they? It definitely makes you feel a bit freakish when they look at you askance because of your food choices. Not much fun. Poor you!

And yes, I'm pleased about my gain. It feels so wrong to be typing that, but it's true! :D

Thanks, jaqys. The not being hit on the head bit was a definite relief, and the takeaway was delicious. In fact, I'm going to have to stop fantasising about it now as I could just eat another one.

As for Australia, I don't think I'd dare swim in the sea - it sounds pretty damn terrifying!

- and well done on your gain!

Thank you, Mouse! :D

Still doing spring cleaning, with loads more yet to do.

PV plus carb meal 1 menu:

B Yoghurt with oatbran, apple juice
L Cheese, spring onion and mushroom omelette, yoghurt
D (carb 1) Spicy Swedish meatballs with shredded cabbage and wholemeal noodles, followed by crème au chocolat

Still spring cleaning. At this rate, I might just finish in time for Christmas.

PV with gala 2 today:

B Yoghurt with oatbran, apple juice
L Ham and tomato sandwich, yoghurt
D (gala 2) Mushroom, garlic and thyme soup with cheese garlic pizza, followed by chocolate truffle torte with single cream

That mushroom soup was absolutely delicious, very rich and flavourful. I shall probably post the recipe on the Recipes thread.

PV with carb meal 2 today:

B Yoghurt with oatbran, apple juice
L Mushroom and thyme soup, ham and tomato sandwich, yoghurt
D (carb 2) Roasted red pepper beef with wholemeal pasta, followed by crème au chocolat

I decided that I couldn't wait any longer to try Zumba (the classes within a reachable distance of me are at silly hours), so I've ordered Zumba Fitness for the Wii in order to try it. Must remember to close the curtains when I'm doing it, though!

PP today:

B Yoghurt with goji/lemon/ginger muffin
L Turkey rashers with chive cottage cheese, GLG muffin
D Em's mince frittata, GLG muffin
S GLG muffin

Morning Sue - is it your PP day today (poor you :D)

Nice day today but a little chilly - have resorted to full length jeans (never worn before without cutting myself in half!!) and a cardigan!

Working at home today so I have a chicken in the oven along with a sponge cake! I don't know what I would do without my little cakes - I think they are what keep me going because they feel so non diet!

We have rain forecast today which I would welcome to be honest as it is very dry - we had 3% of our usual April rainfall! Not sure if rain would muck up the foundations for the conservatory though.

Chickens are laying well apart from the broody one but someone is going to give me some fertile bantam eggs - although what I will do when the next one gets broody I don't know. No sign of life from the duck eggs yet!

Morning, Mousie. :)

Yes, boring old PP. Still, I do enjoy my muffins and Em's frittata so it's not all bad.

Hate to confess this, but I've been wearing jeans, t-shirt and a light sweater even on what everyone else thinks have been warm days - well, apart from one day when I did go sweaterless. Everyone else around here seems to be wearing shorts and tiny summer dresses, but it's actually quite chilly out of the sun, I think!

I hardly dare try the Victoria sponge recipe, for fear of becoming addicted to it. I used to adore the little butterfly cakes our mum used to make when my sis and I were kids. They had the most gorgeous buttercream icing and a dollop of jam on the top. I'm salivating just to think of them. (Not good, since I'm on my PP day and banned from lovely things!)

How exciting that there may be the patter of little chicken feet before too long at your house! You must take some pics when that happens, and one of the proud "mum". Is there still time for the duck eggs to hatch? I have no idea about how long these things take, although I know that it's a good deal quicker than 9 months! ;-)
