Great for snacking but EVEN BETTER in your soup... like suet dumplings but with cheese! And Marmite!

A bugger to roll/twist though :sigh: I made half and half pinwheels and twists, the pinwheels didnt come out looking so good:

but still tasted great! Not burnt, just Marmite. Less Marmite next time. In fact less eggs next time too and I might stick it in the whizzer before baking. It was a MARE to roll flat and then roll up, impossible pretty much :sigh: I swear it was more 'dough-y' the last couple of times I made it, maybe the cottage cheese was less runny?

The twists I couldnt do twist-stylee as it was a bugger to get them to even stay in one piece. I tried rolling them into long sausages but they didnt look too great so I also did a few where I made crosses in them with a knife so they looked a bit twist-ier, and I left a few just flat strips to see which came out best. The flat ones burnt a bit but both the others were fine, the ones with knife scores in looked best I think :)

Yummo!

Erm, whats in the cheese twists they look very yummy!

It's adapted from an idea in this thread. We've done all sorts of things with it :D This one is my latest experiment :D

The basic mix is:
- 1 x 300g pot fat-free cottage cheese (I use Tesco Light Choices cheese & chive)
- 1 x 88g pack Instant Smash
- 3 eggs
- 50g low fat cheddar

Mix it all up, knead it into a sort of dough and then do what you like with it - cobbler topping, cheese scones, dumplings, add more ingredients to it (herbs, Marmite) whatever you fancy.

For the twists I rolled about 1/3 of the mix out flat, spread a (very) light layer of Marmite on top and sprinkled with another 30g low fat cheddar/ Then I cut it into 9 strips and (tried! :) ) to roll them into twists. Thats where things got tricky! :8855:

I got the idea from the picture in this recipe, yeah mine didn't come out so neat... but I dont care cos they were OMMMMMnacious!!!!

Yeah, next time lots less eggs, probably bung it in the whizzer before I roll it out. (And there WILL be a next time  )

These cheese twists look gorgeous Ermintrude. How long do you cook 'em for and on what temp? Sorry if I've missed this! xxx

Your diary is fatal - I can't look at it when I'm hungry or I instantly become ravenous! Everything looks scrummy!

ooh I cant really remember, I just bunged it in til it looked 'done' :D about 15-20 min I think. That was at about 180C on my oven, but thats pretty meaningless as my oven is a funeral pyre, it does On or Off, there is no in-between

Thank you so much, marmite twists wohoo :)
Not so much of a twist for mine... More straws lol, here's mine :)

Woo you like Marmite then? :8855:

I don't normally like smash, but those twists look damn good

Ah theyre nothing like Smash, you'd never know thats what they were made of :) I think they're better in soup than as a snack personally, although both are nice, but in a soup when they soak up the juices they really are most like a suet dumpling, ommm

Tuesday 17th Jan - Green

Breakfast: Coffee & toast 1HEXA, 1HEXB, 1.5 syns
Lunch: Spicy lentil and ginger soup <1 HEXB for extra virgin olive oil

Soooooo... was going out to a free comedy show I got tickets for... when I got there it was already pretty busy so I asked if I could pick up the ticket for my OH while I was waiting. No, I was told and a wristband mechanically stapled to my arm. So I hung around another 15min for the OH who was duly banded too and then we waited... and waited... to cut a long story short it was a total balls up and even though we arrived a good hour before loads of other people who seemingly had priority numbers to us I got in but the OH didn't, so I ditched my ticket and we thought we'd go for a meal somewhere instead seen as we'd gone to the effort of getting into the city and having a drink already.

I was so stuffed after all this and never usually eat dessert anyway, especially in this kind of restaurant but the OH has a (very) sweet tooth and ALWAYS has to have dessert... so while he was looking at the menu this caught my eye and I just. Couldn't. Resist.
