Wowzers!
Just finished my birthday dinner at the cafe in town.
During the day it's a cafe, and about a month ago it started doing evening meals.
They said it's been a bit slow, but it's still new and people don't realise it's doing it yet.
It's a casual place - nothing posh like frankie & Benny's (which I discovered I get 20% off in today because I work at the range and it's across the car park - obvs it won't be in all f&b's - just that one because it's a local business deal, but still good to know), not even as "posh" as Pizza Hut, but it's less casual than the likes of KFC, maccy d's and Burger King.
Anyway, course 1 was soups.
There was a choice of the classic Chinese soups - chicken & sweetcorn, chicken noodle or chicken & mushroom. I had noodles, mum had sweetcorn and dad had mushroom. No vegetarian alternative, however, pretty sure they're made to order so you could probably have ordered mushroom & sweetcorn, or noodles & mushroom/sweetcorn, whatever you so wish and I reckon they'd have accommodated for your needs.
The chicken & sweetcorn was thick and tasted really nice and my chicken & noodle was delicious. The chicken just melted in my mouth. Gorgeous!
Next course was a mixed starter - 2 ribs, 2 spring rolls and 3 onion rings, with a side of sweet chilli.
Another beautiful dish. The ribs fell off the bone so cleanly and the sweet chilli sauce was gorge - I finished mine and then had half my dad's haha.
(Upside down, sorry haha)
(Also, had already eaten my soup before remembering to take a photo)
Main course had a whole range of Chinese & English meals available.
Dad chose chicken curry & rice and me and mum had sweet & sour chicken and noodles.
Delish delish delish.
Then finally dessert.
Dad had lychees & ice cream and mum had fried banana and ice cream.
I was torn between home made cake and custard and apple pie & custard, but was told there wasn't any cake, so that made my decision for me.
It was the hugest portion of apple pie ever.
It completely filled me up, I'm still bloated now and it's been nearly an hour.
I had to leave a mouthful because I was so full.
Something I would never have done before.
So although I ate a ridiculous amount, I'm proud of myself for leaving some on the plate.
Am now in the pub with my friends, having an alcohol free kopparberg.
