Oh yea Tracy we're ripped off with our healthcare.. €50 standard charge to SEE the doctor.. Then the cost of precriptions can go up to any amount.. the dearest I've paid was €115 but it'd usually be around mayb 10-15€ for an anti-biotic...
If you have to visit A&E you've to put a down payment of €100 to be seen... We're ripped!!

Oh my god that must b awful to have to pay £50 to even see a doctor! I bet many ppl end up sick cause they can't see a doc! U will have to move over here Frances!!

I have vhi n vhi dental but only because work pays for it for us. Otherwise I wudn hav it. The drugs scheme thingy only includes ppl on repeat prescriptions on medication that costs over that limit. But if iv to go repeatedly with say a flu r chest infection ive to pay each visit plus each prescription. Well. I don't coz vhi but ya get the drift am sure.
Yea allot of ppl put off goin docs coz of the price of it...

Sure I was sick for 4 days last week and didn't go to the doctor, I can't afford to. You're lucky ya get the vhi... we get nothing at all where I work. There's no bloody perks. Sucks! Do ye not pay for the doctor in england?

No nhs is free! Doc/ hospital! Some ppl with children also get free prescriptions and dentist too, for example if only one parent works, I think it's done by earnings?!

Because my hubby is the only one that works we get free prescriptions, dental and eye care. But i get free epilepsy medication too.
Also because one of my sons has a rare chromosone disorder he has lots of hospital appointments that we dont pay for either.
Listening to what you guys have to pay for makes me realise how lucky we are to have the nhs .

I think prescriptions are now £7.40 per item, they do a monthly pay thing tho, and contraception medicines r free!

I paid 75e for a routine check in the gp in Suffolk street and then another 65e the next week for a followup!! Plus 40e in prescription! Me a poor student I nearly sobbed handing over my card! And I don't feel any different!!

Omg that's ridiculous!! My gp is EUR50 for a visit, (I get EUR35 back from vhi) EUR25 for a follow up. There's a walk in doc in park west that's EUR25 per visit if that's any good to ya?? Prob not but he's an option.

We pay for everything!! We're ripped off big time!!
There is a social welfare scheme where ta can get s medical card but I think it's means tested. Can't b sure.
Dental costs here are thru the room as well!!

My parents have the medical cardbecause my Dad lost his job and my mum only works 6hrs a week. Even at that they had to lie and say I wasn't living with then because the government would take my measly salary and claim that I could pay for the whole household.
There is no free dental for anyone, just a routine checkup free through prsi. Sure I need new glasses and can't afford that either. Can't afford to get the crown done on my tooth. I'm just about scraping by paying for the medication each month. It's a joke with all the tax we pay here!! Governments absolutely robbing us.

And wow, can't believe contraception medication is free!!? Like... Free?? No charge? For everyone? Sheesh. I may look to move over there. Wish my meds were only EUR7.40 per item lol. It's about 13 for my pill and then 120 for my anti depressants (they would cost more but EUR133 is the cut off point for repeat prescriptions - used to be EUR88 when I was in college).

Sometimes I hate this country.

Don't u hav a limit on the cost of prescriptions?

We have free docs and prescriptions are either free (like the pill) or set price I thin like £7.20 but I've only ever had like anti biotics for flu etc so might be. Little more for other medications but otherwise we just go to docs and don't pay.

Xxx
